  1. One on hand I can understand your rationale of thinking - why should the GOOD teams be punished with lower picks? On the other hand you have to remember the NFL's goal - parity. Even a blind squirrel will find a nut (Bradford, Matt Ryan, etc..) to turn around their franchise. Plus, the good teams usually remain good because of great management. They just don't get first dibs on the PERCEIVED top picks. Look at some of the teams in the playoffs - NE, PITT, BALT, NYJ, GB. Look at some of the teams who lost in the first week of the playoffs. New Orleans, PHILLY, INDY. A good amount of these teams make the playoffs every year. They don't need the help. The idiots who run teams like Buffalo, Detroit, and Cincy need all the help they can get to be competitive and fill stadiums. And that's what it comes down to - filling stadiums and drawing ratings. If a crap team remains crap for a long time, there's no need for them in the NFL. The more teams like this that the NFL can prevent from happening, the better for their bottom line. I do have ONE idea that could switch things up a LITTLE bit. Instead of WORST record gets the top pick, do what the NHL does and have a lottery system for the teams with the lowest records. This would prevent teams from completely tanking it at the end of the season. In the NHL draft, the worst team (record wise) doesn't always get the first pick.
  2. And it's quite easy to get one from him.. "Say PLEASE"
  3. I'd be quite surprised if Peterson went #3 overall. I thought he had a bad bowl game. Every cornerback but him was making plays unless you count kickoff returns. Yeah, we should draft another gadget guy.
  4. Would make sense if they traded Lee Evans for something decent. Otherwise we'd have TOO many receivers. The thing is - we aren't at the point where we can make this type of move. We SHOULD NOT be drafting any receivers or running backs with our top pick for a variety of reasons unless this guy is the next Jerry Rice. The thing that makes Lee Evans attractive in a trade is his relatively low salary for the next 2 years.. But we'd have to get a real good pick in exchange otherwise it wouldnt make sense to replace him (unless you absolutely knew AJ Green is the better receiver) We need to draft D, D and some more D. JMO.
  5. I'm all for this. But why in the world would he pass up a really good defense in San Diego?
  6. Dammit. I've been tracking this guy all year and figured he'd be a top 10 guy but never guessed he could go #1 overall! I wanted him on the Bills the most but Bowers wouldnt disappoint me either. The question is - will Bowers be available when its our pick?
  7. As long as the deal is reasonable I'm alright with it. I don't LOVE Poz but we can't keep getting rid of guys and replacing them with undrafted free agents. Sign him to something reasonable and keep building this team up. If he's as talentless as everyone here claims, he'll eventually be replaced.
  8. Good lord some people are just...Nevermind. IF YOU DIDN'T THINK IT WOULD TAKE 2-3 YEARS TO REBUILD THIS MESS OF A TEAM NIX/GAILEY ACQUIRED THEN YOU ARE PRETTY NAIVE. If Troupe and Carrington are as good as the Good Ol' Boys think they will be in a few years (maybe as soon as next year), then the wait will be worth it. Yes they could have taken someone who may have started quicker but longterm these guys have more potential in the eyes of Nix and company. Look at the best teams in the league, they're loaded with talent up and down the team. Why? Because they build within. They develop players, they let them learn and when the time is right they plug them in.
  9. Whoa whoa whoa. Calm down guys. BOTH of these guys were brought along very slowly this season. Hell, Carrington was inactive for the first several games while Troupe would only get the occasional snap. Toward the end of the season their playing time picked up but lets be real folks - NOBODY on this D produced results in the last 2 games. I believe most of the guys checked out before the last game because of injuries on both sides of the ball. As much as the Bills brass didn't want to say it (because of how impatient we are as fans) - both of these guys were long term (2-3 years) projects. I believe Troupe has the work ethic to make it work. The day after his season ended he tweeted the following: "Man i couldnt sleep last night i was so excited and so many thoughts about how i can get better this off season."
  10. I hate these types of threads. The futilities of debate for its own sake.
  11. I'll tell you in a little bit. Just give me a few weeks
  12. Nah, I can just see when a player is worth it or not. He hasn't shown me a single thing in a big bowl game. Even his kick off returns arent great. I don't want a slightly better version of McKelvin. I want the next Warren Sapp - Fairley. Ive hated the idea of drafting a CB or a WR for the Bills all along. This just confirms that feeling. JUST SAY NO TO DRAFTING A CB! (p.s. Im sure the kid is talented as hell and it's unfair to judge him on one game but thats what ive got for now. so you can have your peterson if you want bud, but i'll pass)
  13. This Peterson kid is not impressing me at all. In fact, at one point they were targeting him! I tried an open mind with this kid going into this game but NO THANKS
  14. As soon as I saw the author of this thread, I knew exactly what this was about. It's a broken record with Alpha. Sorry brah
  15. "one of the best pass defenses in the league" ya know, i'm guessing our worst ranked run defense has something to do with that. but i agree, i'd love to keep florence around. cut mcgee and give florence his contract.
  16. Hey, I didn't say CJ was some great pick worthy of his selection. I'm just telling you there's no way Buddy would pick Tebow at that spot. And please stop acting like Spiller is a total bust. It was his first year, give him another season before you dismiss him as a player. He's still got a lot of talent. I would have preferred someone else as well at that spot but that's easy to say now. Back to the topic, I loved this special. Hope they make a few more like this in the future. I keep thinking about the ramifications if Tebow fell to us in the 2nd. Would Fitz have been cut in camp (or before it) because Trent would have held onto his spot with Tebow learning behind him?! Gailey clearly chose Edwards as his guy at first. Just something to think about. Then again, I suppose they could have kept all 3 QBs but maybe they would have cut one to save some cash.
  17. Tim's agent said the Bills contacted him TEN TIMES the week of the draft saying they may draft a QB in the first or second round. But he also said they kept changing their mind. NO DOUBT in my mind if Tebow slips to the Bills 2nd round pick, they take him. No way in hell was Buddy giving up a first round pick for him. And also a Buddy Nix sighting at Tebow's pro day!
  18. Just curious if anyone heard Chan's interview on 97 rock this morning. I couldn't find an audio archive on their website. If so, please give us a little report of what Chan said.
  19. We should leak information that we'll take a 4th rounder for Brohm. Asking for a 2nd round pick for Orton is ridiculous.
  20. We're forgetting a few guys. We IR'd 7 guys total: Andra Davis (who will be back and will start. lots of folk have forgotten about this guy) Danny Batten (unproven thus far, who knows if he's any good) Antonio Coleman (was making progress before injury) Keith Ellison (ugh.) Shawne Merriman (you know the deal) John Russell (uhh...) and... REGGIE TORBOR (probably just a depth guy)
