Gus Johnson and his energetic calls leave CBS
Meathead replied to Beerball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
i used to like gus but i think he jumped the shark after he got all the national attention and the gigs on the football games (was it madden or nfl xx?) seems like once he felt he had 'arrived' he just kept going all in, which actually was 'too much' as he was forcing it hopefully hes learned and will go back to just being his normal un-played out self -
exactly a really good inside runner can sometimes get away with crappy pass blocking because the defense usually has to key on the run when hes in there before they let loose with a pass rush but if hes not a strong inside run threat AND he cant pass block they are simply going to prepare for a pass to him every time he comes into the game, making it very difficult for him to get decent catch chances he needs to establish one or the other (inside running or pass blocking) before he will get steady playing time with all that said, i think chan will have him ready and he will finally be a major force in this offense

amazing he has a football career after ozzie and harriet

Could this really happen?
Meathead replied to Captain Hindsight's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
im not an expert on whats going on but as far as i can tell the last deal the owners offered was quite fair lets also remember the owners got raped last time around - albeit their own fault for not listening to ralph but still they got screwed finally lets remember the players want full access to financials of the teams. so really they want to take pretty much everything they can and leave the owners with very little actual control over what is going on so if im an owner i probably feel like im getting painted into a very undesireable corner. at some point you just say well **** if this is the way things are gonna be shoved down my throat then i can just shutter the windows and be kept warm by snuggling up to the many millions i already have. fk the players im going yachting and i cant say i entirely blame them -

Would You Take 8-8 or 3-13 and the #1 Pick in '12?
Meathead replied to jwhit34's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
first of all, its more likely to take two wins to get the top pick. at three youre probably competing with other teams with three wins then its pretty much a coin flip if given the choice only btwn eight wins and three/two wins id probably take the three. ive lived through enough eight win seasons and to me they arent much better than three win ones. id rather have the high picks fortunately i see these bills as being one of the big surprise teams this year and challenging for a playoff spot late into the season. with our luck that probably means 9-5 until the last two weeks then losing both to lose out on a wc by a tiebreaker. but still i expect huge improvement, which i will take over a top pick any day -
hahahahahahaaaaaaaa better chance getting steve mcnair to play here next season

Donte Whitner compares himself to Jesus

whitner has one thing right - people just LOOOVE to hate wow i gladly will be on record all day long that i would like him back. theres something fkd in your head if you dont -
kelsay gets three mil total in '12 - a bargain for a starting player and very reasonable for a quality rotation guy he was the good soldier and gave it his all at lb - and failed miserably but once they put his hand back on the ground he was one of the bills most consistently effective players he will play a lot this season. after that he either renegotiates to stay here (when the back-heavy portion of his contract starts to kick in), or he gets traded or released a great employee, a good leader, and a decent player. i hope he renegotiates so he can stay on as a rotational/backup guy until he retires

As of last night, Bills looking at Blaine Gabbert
Meathead replied to BringBackFergy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
ryan who? fitz threw 23 for a full season rate of 28 impressive considering the train wreck of an offense he inherited but still not 30 i have a ton of confidence in chudwalwan to make a valuable pick at three but i have to admit i will be sorely disappointed if they take a qb there. just doesnt seem to provide near the value that they would get out of one of the huge ass dlinemen, green, or even peterson. id rather they wait until 34 and hope a qb they like is there, or simply ride the fitz train and wait on using a high pick for a qb until next season if they feel they havent found their developmental guy by then -
thats his other brother darryl
-
if they drafted dareus it would really be pretty silly for the bills to continue to try to run a 3-4 when they would have too many dlinemen and not enough lbs for that scheme with williams and troupe on the inside and dareus on the outside they would only have to find somebody to take the other de spot, likely to be carrington and some kind of rotation then our lb cupboard doesnt look nearly so bare with poz in the middle and merridude on one of the outsides. then again you just have to find another olb or rotation and youre in decent shape

Anyone else getting turned off by the lockout?
Meathead replied to Captain Hindsight's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
heck no i like not knowing when we might be able to sign some free agents to shore up a vastly undermanned defense that was the achilles heel all season yes i enjoy pampered millionaires and pompous billionaires fighting over tiny percentage points that represent more money than every visitor in the history of this site will collectively earn in their entire lifetimes no i bask in the joy of not knowing when or even if my tied for first favorite spectator sport will ever start their season i think its awesome that the bills have collected the greatest combined cache of coaching and talent evaluators we have probably ever seen in buffalo just so they can sit and wait with the rest of us and lose ground on the tremendous progress we already saw them make over the coarse of last season, their first together as a staff, and now this season with the legendary stache helping to fix the defense im so happy im whistling zip-a-dee doo-dah out my butthole -
a) there is zero chance the bills draft newton. zee. row. 4) what does ivrs. mean?
-
accuracy and brains. shocking
-
i know one thing for sure: they will not be picking a qb at three btw - still totally fine with the pick of spiller
