Insider: Nix hasn't addressed Bills greatest needs
Meathead replied to Amstel's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
i wish this site had demerits or groans or minuses cuz i would use them for amstel not providing a link. very rude message board behavior http://www.profootballweekly.com/2011/08/28/insider-nix-hasnt-addressed-bills-greatest-needs and if youre gonna tell me you quoted everything relevant, it doesnt matter. if theres no link it didnt happen. and if for some reason you cant provide a link you should explain that total crap commentary btw. how someone can get so many things wrong in one paragraph is amazing. he couldnt suck more at this if he tried -
these predictions never work out all i know is the team got dramatically better from the horrid start last season to being competitive with everybody, except at the very end when they had the busses running in the parking lots now with a full season under their belts and some added talent, they should make the next leap to being an average team. thats not bad considering how far theyve come from last september they will be a 8-8 team. with a couple bounces they could reach ten wins, which also means a possible six wins, but since luck eventually evens out over time i think the bills are due. thus im going with ten wins

Nix: Offensive line depth Bills’ main concern
Meathead replied to TheBlackMamba's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
nyj ... i guarumptee the bills will be adding some new ol bodies when the cuts start coming. whether they will find anything good remains to be seen but they will again try the recycle route, they have to -
why do they bother calling kelsay a lb? for that matter, why do they bother calling it a 3-4? its obvious kelsay is far more effective as a down lineman, is never asked to drop into pass coverage anymore cuz hes horrible at it, and essentially is a defensive end all the time. i mean im fine with that if it works, and im fine with kelsay who is a steady high-motor type at a reasonable price (3.75m), but lets call a cracker a cracker and say hes a de in a 4-3 defense
-
because lots of fans are this stupid: as a defensive end hes solid but unspectacular. as a rushing linebacker hes solid but unspectacular. as a coverage linebacker hes horrible, so they never ask him to do that anymore. hes a model citizen, consummate professional, and great example for younger players. and at 3.75m total actual compensation hes reasonably priced these are actual facts. but lots of fans are natural born haters who simply must have a target for their hate. if they have any trouble finding one they will create one out of their own perceptions by never acknowledging good plays, forever remembering every bad one, and projecting bad into whats actually a routine situation for any player in the league. if brian urlacher cant catch up to make a tackle its oh no big deal, but if kelsay cant catch up to make a tackle its the end of the world haters gotta hate. and dumb haters hate dumbly. simple as that

meh idk man steve johnson isnt going to scare anybody as a teams top wideout. he will get his balls and make his plays but hes not gonna keep any coordinators up at night. thats pretty huge to the offense and who exactly is going to be the threat at wr2 to help stevie out? parrish cant do that job imo, he is what he is, a great slot guy who would struggle against constant cb2+ coverage. david nelson is the only other guy to show something and he only had 31 catches at a very white 11 ypc - weak evidence he can handle the role. unless lightning strikes twice, stevie isnt ready to consistently handle wr1 doubles and probably nobody is ready to really handle wr2, so its suddenly a development year for the position they better get something damn good a high second round-ish pick or a starting caliber player in return or yeah im gonna be pissed too

Glad we were 4-12 instead of 5-11 last year.
Meathead replied to TC in St. Louis's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
every season the team is out of playoff contention early i go thru the same thing on this subject wins are NOT always better than losses when the team is bad and the game is on i am rooting for them to win. but once its over and theyve lost i quickly transition to being not at all bothered by the loss and in fact in a very real way glad they did not win fans will talk about learning to win, establishing a winning culture, ending the season on a high note. those things all have value, but when compared to a better draft position they really pale in terms of benefit so late in the season when the team has no more chance of acquiring a playoff spot, and of course the game is not on, my motto is and always will be 'just lose baby' -
they also only have so many final roster spots. even if youre willing to play a veteran over the young guys you want to keep, you know youre just going to be faced with cutting somebody in a few weeks to get down to the roster size. why waste training camp space and reps when you know somebody is going to have to go anyway. agents and players also know this, so unless they are desperate they arent going to come to a camp where they know they are up againsta shakey numbers game i gotta be honest, i am SUPER happy dave pornstachio is here. he has obviously gone over the whole roster with buddy chan and edwards and they feel comfortable with what they currently have. if it was just still edwards i would be very nervous cuz frankly i think that guy sux as his job, but with somebody like stacheman you can have confidence that hes on top of where the defense is at and what they need. even with so many average defenders, castoffs, and young guys i am positive the defense is going to be dramatically better. considering how bad they were last season that isnt necessarily hard, but with a track record on defense like wanny has its obvious that unit is going to be fully prepared mentally and tactically as much as they possibly can be we know the offense is going to be significantly better with chan having a full year now to implement his systems. and honest to god, due to what i know is going to be a much better defense i see at least eight wins from this team. and if merriman truly does return to his prior form, ten wins doesnt seem at all unreasonable

haha rhonde barber totally chumped on that one see kids thats why the db has to cover the qb the whole wc play

Bills Cap Casualties aka Cut Kelsay
Meathead replied to billsfan89's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
still playing defensive end, kelsay had his best season in '10 and overall was one of the best bills defenders in '11 after switching to olb he struggled with some key duties of that position, specifically pass defense and shedding second level blockers, so they essentially moved him back to de as a rush and containment lb, which he is reasonably effective at. he was one of the scant few bills defenders to consistently generate pressure, tho he admittedly isnt much of a finisher when it comes to sacks. again, from an overall perspective he is a quality not great player at $3.75M he is reasonably priced or perhaps a mild bargain for the total package he brings to the bills on and off the field, as summed up nicely by gm buddy nix: "The thing you don't want to do is take your core guys and your leaders out of your system," Bills general manager Buddy Nix said Thursday, the first time he commented on Kelsay's extension. "We decided, obviously, that we've got four, five or six guys like that. They maybe are not great players, but good players that set the tone for what you want everybody else to be, and how we want them to be. So that's the reason he's here." i concur -

oops. the entire time i was typing that i was thinking jets. ive been to both giants and jets games there and the jets fans are indeed far more aggressive. id still be careful, but giants games tend to be a lot less fighty than jets
-
total insanity. its like the ralph but more fighty. if you wear bills stuff make sure you bring something to cover it up after the bills win, and make sure you walk out with giants fan friends. lots of cool people in ny but the arseholes are dang-er-ous
