thanks mag. very interesting i admit i have not followed presidential politics as closely as i used to, mainly because i am so disappointed with the decreasing quality of the candidates over the last decade plus, but this obama getting cold feet is a topic i wasnt familiar with before. hes not someone i have anything invested in so i have no problem admitting it could be true, i just didnt see it back then either way, it does not relieve republicans from the requirement to get things done and not just be obstructionists. i didnt consider finally voting for obama in his reelection bid specifically bc he did not get enough things done, and i hold the gop to the same standard. far too many no votes on things that should have been simply procedure. one way or another both the president and congress must find enough consensus to address these difficult issues. this culture war weve been trapped in since 9/11 needs to stop and more than anything else that drives my voting patterns. but for now obama has won the narrative and simply voting no to everything is no longer an option. things need to move forward mostly on his agenda, we are just going to have to live with the results god i wish you people had nominated huntsman

Mitt didn't want to be President....
Meathead replied to Just Jack's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
he was the best of the circus freaks the gop paraded past us, which is saying something pretty pathetic if you morons had nominated huntsman we would have been rid of on ineffective president AND straightened out that fubar of a party with one fell swoop. idiots -
my understanding is that was a separate deal that fell through bc both sides had asked for more than the other was willing to give. i cant recall what exactly it was the republicans were demanding but it may have been related to steep cuts in medicare i believe. in any event, it was not as simple as you are portraying it here i am willing to review any balanced links anyone may have on this topic to refresh my memory. pls keep in mind i dont play the partisan games so pls provide the least biased sources you can find nevertheless, it was clear to me that obama had gone much further than the republicans in his first term to find consensus and was greeted with intransigence. now in his second term it is clear he has decided to press his advantage hard, perhaps too hard, but such is the consequence of securing such a sweeping victory

i agree that banning non-assault style guns is not the answer but using this incident to make that point is insulting to the intelligence -

Not just another new Head Coach thread
Meathead replied to mrags's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
welp all things considered im still ok with chuddly coming back for another cycle. non-competitive, mistake filled games like today are piling up and do make me concerned for their in-ability for them to pull out of it - aaaaagain but the final analysis still says one more cycle is better than the alternative at this time. in reality there is less to lose this way then starting over. chan does have some impressive offensive success on his resume, as does wannstachio on his. are they really washed up and unsuited for the nfl? or would another infusion of talent and heart pay dividends? stay tuned for the next episode of ... bills of our lives -

John Harbaugh Goes Dick Jauron...
Meathead replied to thebandit27's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
yeah i never understood why ppl hated dick for that comment. there was plenty to hate dick about, namely, that he played dickball. for example, you have fourth and 1.5 at their five yard line in the fourth quarter leading the cheaters by six in their house with about eight minutes left. do you take the three points to go up by two scores or do you try for the first down? take the fkg three of course. but when youre playing dickball you risk that two score advantage so that you can get stuffed and pretty much ensure that the cheaters will march right down and score the td that you never recover from. seems like every decision he made was the wrong one. at the exact moments he needed to be aggressive he was conservative, and vice versa coaches always look completely different when they are winning or losing. belicheater was a surly dufus of a crappy hc before he got marcia. now everybody looks at him like hes god on wheels. joe gibbs looked like he was one of the greatest coaches ever in his first stint, then looked like a bumbling altzheimers patient when he was calling back to back kicker icing time outs to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory howdie doodie would look like a nordic warrior if he could get a team to win twelve games. and the only man on earth that could look good losing is chuck norris -
5 Most hated Dolphins of all-Time

omg i forgot all about that. i was at that game too. hilarious marino - i could never really hate that guy. oh i mean i hated him when he would kick our ass, but jimbo had the fishes number for some reason so that rarely happened. marino was just such a joy to watch play, he really stood head and shoulders above the other players. i loved jimbo but he was no marino in that manner. bruce smith was but really there are precious few players like that, just incredibly gifted and doing stuff that looked impossible but they did it routinely marino had the incredible ability to find the one spot he could step into in order to avoid the rush and get the ball off. he could be completely surrounded and like a sixth sense he would take one small step and fire off a perfect thirty yard pass with that little no wind-up tomahawk chop throwing motion. in-freakin-credible. im just glad they hardly never had a running game to go with his passing bc that would have been torture to try to play against -

Meathead replied to bisonbrigade's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
once again, my decisions have no bearing on how hard the players and coaches have to try and win. THEY have to play to win, I am free to hope they actually lose when the game is on i always want them to win. when the game is over i feel good for about an hour if they win, but i feel better the months up to the draft if they lose thats my advantage as a fan -
the republicans put themselves in an impossible situation. on several vital issues in his first term obama tried to negotiate with them, they got very close, then the republicans walked away remember, i didnt vote for obama either time, i voted for a republican both elections (paul, huntsman). these republicans are the ones who are screwing **** up. its like theyve lost their damned minds. their job is to govern, not to just say no to everything. thats why i voted for SMART, PRINCIPLED, REASONABLE republicans for president - to kick that partys ass, get them to stop acting crazy, do their fkg jobs

great point yes i think ticket sales will suffer early in this lease deal. if you were around years ago when the bills sucked for long periods there were lots of empty stadiums. the threat of losing the team has definitely kept tickets flowing in recent years despite a craptastic product. of course theres still a loyal following that will come regardless, but without that imminent threat im sure there will be those that feel they dont have to buy a crappy product anymore hopefully the bills make that a moot point by getting a franchise qb in place and starting to win next season. hey it could happen

Who Handled their QB's Worse? Jets or Bills
Meathead replied to DFITZ1's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
ur crazy if you think fitz doesnt have value in this league as a starter. at least ten teams every season would take him over the starter they already have. theres only so many people on the planet that can play that position at that level so even if your at the bottom of that list youre still a commodity that can be dealt. fitz has that value, sanchez doesnt -
Who Handled their QB's Worse? Jets or Bills
Meathead replied to DFITZ1's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
well certainly the jets ended up in worse shape with their starting qb. fitz is a bonafide starter, albeit a relatively poor one, but hes still someone that will start for somebody in the nfl. if the bills had somebody to replace fitz they would still get a mid round pick for him. sanchez is likely finished as a starter, probably wont command anything in a trade, and will spend the rest of his career backing somebody up somewhere else jets also are in worse shape with their qb2. thigpen isnt very good and is another career backup, but at least he could step in and run the exact same offense. the jets would need to reshape their offense for tebow - and they arent even bothering to try that. so really hes not even a backup for them the one place the jets are better off is at developmental qb, which isnt hard since the bills dont even have one. but as a seventh rounder its still unlikely mcelroy becomes their solution so its not much better. its obvious in hindsight that the bills erred in not taking someone like cousins or wilson to have in their system ready to supplant fitz if he didnt progress like we all hoped he would this season - and didnt. now they have to try and play catchup and probably invest more to get somebody this spring, and delaying their ability to trade fitz and putting them in jeopardy of losing even that mid-round pick they could get for him so all in all if you asked me if id rather have the bills or jets situation id MUCH rather be the bills. at least they have one real starter on the roster, plus a legitimate candidate to compete for the job next season in vjax. both teams will likely draft another qb early next spring which ultimately will be the most key factor in who comes out better at the position going forward and for the last time, can we puleeze stop point to vince young as any kind of valid option whatsoever? jeez, the guy cant even get a BACKUP job on ANY nfl team, why in the hell would he have any value to the bills if he was still on the roster? -
i like joe a lot. hes one of the seeminly rare reasonable conservatives willing to stand up against the extremism that is in control of that party. i wish he was still in politics as i would surely vote for him

#1 drop a daisy cutter on marcias house thats the only way youre gonna stop them. hes a one man team and the only reason belicheat isnt the painfully mediocre surly nobody he always has been no idea why that came out underlined but it does look dramatic doesnt it

players and coaches have a job to do. they absolutely must try their very best to win every game fans dont have that obligation. our participation has no effect on the outcome. thus we are free to see thing from a more practical perspective. in this case that means losing games definitely helps the team by making it easier to get that early pick qb we desperately need just lose baby
-
doesnt matter what happens the rest of the way, buddy chan and fitz are going to be back next season so deal wid it but i am hoping they lose both. while i watch the game i cant help wanting them to win, but when its over im more glad if they lose. the closer they get to the top pick the less they have to give up to draft one of the top qbs, which they definitely will be doing. wins at this stage do absolutely nothing, while losses can help the club enormously later on just lose baby
