  1. I got my PhD at the University of Dallas. I like Texans. They're good people in my book. Two decades of incompetence could be wiped away if we are bold enough to show a little ingenuity.
  2. Nice. That, folks, is what is normally called a fact. I will wait for those who take conjecture from a fella who is frequently wrong to explain how said conjecture has value and this does not.
  3. Yeah, that's a depressing as hell perspective. If true, Jeffis Magic's pessimistic read on McD is right on target. I appear to be one of the few who likes both Mahomes and Watson. I've been convinced enough on Mahomes to put him first on my list. We need to get the future franchise qb who needs time to develop now so that when the bridge qb contract is up, the franchise qb is ready. Not hard to understand, really.
  4. I doubt John C. is asserting one should take that fella seriously. Regardless of where one falls on all these issues, the abject failure of the franchise to secure a franchise qb for two decades is beyond dispute. So are the other dismal facts. I personally think DW is slightly above average as a GM if one takes into account his acumen with regards to pros. He takes chances in the draft. Folks talk about how we only have six picks this year. Not good, but I look at Ragland and Listenbee as basically redshirt players who have yet to contribute; who may contribute. Lawson will be better in a 4-3. I don't consider 2016 draft a fail. Grade is Incomplete. We'll see. Folks who think Taylor is anything more than a cheap bridge qb are very much overly optimistic imo. So, I hope we grab Mahomes or Watson. I would keep trying for franchise qb because it is disproportionately important in today's NFL. EJ and Cardale Jones are not proof positive that Whaley can't pick qbs and there is a marginal chance Jones may develop at least into a useful backup and perhaps more. If Whaley is indeed in trouble, the Pegulas should have cleaned house when they hired McD and put someone in place for the long-term. I hope this smoke is fake news.
  5. Your avatar is the classic standing buffalo and you can say this?
  6. Well, I like both Mahomes and Watson. I'd be happy with either. I just hope we get a qb early as I see the value of Taylor as a bridge qb lost if you are not developing a qb. If you could guarantee Darnold to the Bills next year, I'd be willing to pass this year, but no one can do that.
  7. Who chose Rex? If he was really Whaley's pick, I think he'd be gone already. If he wasn't, as most who give "excuses" surmise, I have no problem seeing how DW does with McD.
  8. Then you'll be drafting somebody else's player, because he's going to be chosen in the first. That's the rationale for not taking him. Is it a metaphysical certitude that an air raid qb is an inevitable fail in the NFL? I doubt it. Somehow, even with abysmal mechanics, he makes all the throws with a powerful arm. Consider that much of the time an NFL qb is under pressure and throwing under less than ideal conditions. The capacity to get the ball to the receiver when good mechanics are not possible is a plus.
  9. You absolutely do if you project the qb to be a franchise qb and you just reworked the contract of a bridge qb for two years. A developed player at any other position is not worth the value of a true franchise qb. It's the quick fix, immediate gratification drafting that has ironically produced the playoff drought.
  10. I agree with this. Whaley was put in a bad spot and he's not a good public speaker. The result was unsurprising. I hope you're wrong. He's never been a head coach, so I don't think one can be absolutely certain of your conjecture, though it does seem plausible.
  11. I don't believe this is a bad qb class. Any one or more of Trubisky, Watson, Mahomes, or even Kizer could end up being a good pro. There are no sure fire franchise qbs. Those are very rare. Would anyone trade up for Goff now? "Every neutral observer" -- this means those who agree with me are objective; those who don't are biased. Convenient.
  12. You missed my sarcasm. I was summarizing the views of those who don't give much or any credence to the Nix EJ connection. I think Whaley is a reasonably good GM.
  13. He did, but EJ and Cardale Jones means Whaley doesn't have a clue about qbs and is a bad GM.
  14. Whaley is good at lb. We'll get some fast fella later in the draft for cheap.
  15. I have been trying to figure out how we could reasonably or even somewhat unreasonably pull off that trick. I don't think it's possible unless Mahomes falls into the second. MW is going top fifteen and probably top ten. If you trade back, you don't get him. You'd have to trade up to get Mahomes and I don't think we have the fire power. I suspect Mahomes goes in the first. If you have to choose, I take the qb.
  16. I think enthusiasm for Mahomes is more real than hype, but one can always speculate it is smoke this time of year.
  17. An athlete's career, if he's lucky, is the lifespan of a dog. I don't blame them for maximizing their earning potential, but I allow myself the irrational anger when it means they don't sign with the red, white, and blue.
  18. The last variation is the most likely. Ragland is definitely going to be the MIKE, even if Zach Brown is signed.
  19. I'd be really surprised if Lattimore is available at #10.
  20. I think he's quite good, too. At the price the Pats* paid, that's a lot of dough. Especially if McDermott's zone scheme doesn't require fellas on an island, so to speak. I just hope OBD doesn't feel compelled to take cb at #10 now.
  21. He's a class fella. I will be rooting for him to play well.
