My sense is the Bills want to promote from within. If Dorsey ends up with the Giants, I suspect Chad Hall will be considered. As a few posters have noted early in this thread, I think Pep Hamilton is an interesting outside name to consider.

Gunner's 2022 Mock Draft (v3 and FINAL - p.17!!)
Dr. Who replied to GunnerBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
Probably, but if they value their elite qb they will change their strategy to allow Josh to thrive with less risk to his body. Adding explosiveness and YAC at WR takes away from having to use Josh as the first option on fourth down must have plays -- though probably in the playoffs he will and maybe should revert to that much of the time. I sure hope the reaction to the 13 second debacle is not a turtle, let's go get defense response. That would be doubling down on the mentality that got them in trouble in the first place. -
With Allen, can the Bills de-emphasize skill positions?
Dr. Who replied to Success's topic in The Stadium Wall
No one has said defense is unimportant. If you read through the thread, you'll see what is intended. We need to allocate more prime resources to offense. This regime has not shown itself averse to spending top picks on D. So far, it's got you a pretty good defense. If they want to kick that up a notch, they're going to have to get someone like Chandler Jones which another poster suggested. A speed cb2 would help. Folks can see what could improve that side of the ball and that's fine, but the idea that the offense is good enough and it's the D that needs attention is not correct imo. -

A great pass rush gives even elite qbs trouble, obviously. Mahomes was pressured, but consistently escaped downfield. His running killed us. Top level pass rushers are difficult to get. You won't likely get one at #25. Not sure who is available in free agency, but that is certainly a position to inquire about. Josh Allen will make Buffalo a prime destination for anyone who wants a legit shot at a SB. -

It's not like they haven't been spending the bulk of the top picks on D. The game changes and strategy has to adapt. The defense is currently good, not great or dominant (the stats are deceptive.) Nonetheless, that is good enough in today's game. If you can upgrade, by all means do so, but not if that means neglecting to spend high picks on supercharging the offense and increasing the oline talent. We're probably just going to disagree on the best way moving forward. -

You're completely misreading the current NFL game. It isn't the nineties, the rules strongly favor offense, even the '85 Bears would have trouble dominating. When you have arguably the best qb in the game, you play to that strength and add playmakers to extend his career and increase his effectiveness. That doesn't mean you neglect defense, but the relative tilt needs to go opposite from your intuition. -

Granted that he was selected as a project, but they're sure slowplaying the rollout on this fella. I'm skeptical, though not opposed to a breakout season obviously. -

I did not listen, but I trust your take. Does protecting Josh limit to the oline or does it include the skill positions, because I think the latter should still be addressed early rather than later in the draft? -

Ughh, what an awful scenario. Simply can't be allowed, like the entire board should crusade if it starts to look like that is the plan. -
I don't like him. I think it's likely he retires, but he'd definitely make the team more dangerous. He's a redzone threat, can still block effectively, and legitimately makes two TE sets something the defense has to account for, so the answer is yes.

I love some of you… but I hate this site right now
Dr. Who replied to NewEra's topic in The Stadium Wall
I'm over a decade older than you. The window of mortality does make a loss like this tougher to take. As I wrote in another post, it's also that I have relatives in their eighties. I want them to be there to share a Bills' SB victory with, and this was a prime opportunity lost due to incompetence. It's much harder than just getting blown out. Josh Allen played the best football I've ever seen from a qb in the playoffs for two games. The penultimate Bills' TD was an epic drive with multiple fourth down conversions, simply spectacular, clutch play. The joy of the last Bills' TD was so intense and then so quickly dashed in an almost incomprehensible manner. That's why the emotions are so raw and perduring. I'm not out to fire the coach, but I get the anger and that folks can't stop writing about it; granted it can get tedious and irksome. -

And your father left a note: please take this vagrant in. He left his wallet in the car. -
I saw a stat, I don't know the provenance, that indicated Mahomes had a huge YAC percentage of yards and that Allen had few. Maybe that's not true, but it sure seems like most of our yardage through the air is point to point without a lot of YAC.

Ongoing Buffalo Bills Ratings on Madden 22 Thread!
Dr. Who replied to TheyCallMeAndy's topic in The Stadium Wall
Pretty sure it went up, but they added a new feature, the coaching brake. No matter how great Allen plays, you lose the game. -
I have either mostly stayed away from Cole as a topic because it is so politicized or I have given thumbs up to folks who appreciate his skillset and contribution. If you think McKenzie's game against the Cheaters is more or less a one off, that's fine. Maybe it is. Regardless, whether it be McKenzie, a rejuvenated Beasley, or some new fella, this offense needs speed and it needs playmakers that can provide YAC so that less pressure falls on Josh to make everything go. Mahomes gets a ton of yards in that manner and we get hardly any at all.
-
Part of it is we lack receivers with speed and moves for lots of YAC. Beasely getting too long in the tooth and looks like we are about to let McKenzie go. Utilizing rb as receiver is also a concept they seem to have only utilized late in the season. I think it's more playcalling and talent. Josh has improved his touch a great deal since he got here, though probably that is an area that he can work on yet from his floor of best qb in the NFL.
-
This is a team that needs speed and they're likely going to let this fella walk? And they kept Davis off the field for much of the season. Really curious asset management.

Has the NFL season ended for anyone else?
Dr. Who replied to billsintaiwan's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yep, me, too. I'm very productively hanging out here, for instance. -
Yeah, Davis is not JAG. I still think adding a player like Jameson Williams an excellent idea.
