Dogfish Head & Sam Adams to merge
Bill from NYC replied to The Poojer's topic in Off the Wall Archives
You are correct, but one exception is when Anheuser Busch bought a Long Island Brewery called "Blue Point." They maintained the quality and make a beer called "Toasted Lager." While not spectacular, it is certainly far superior to any of the mainstream beers. A nice beer to try is made by the Coney Island Brewery called "Merman." It is a very smooth IPA and is only 5.8% so you can drink 2 or 3without getting plastered. Believe it or not, NYC has excellent water because it comes from upstate reservoirs. There are several good micro breweries in places such as Brooklyn and the Bronx. -
Great post! The fascinating part imo is how we Bills Fans employ different coping mechanisms. I tend to keep my expectations low and rejoice when they don't draft first round defensive backs or running backs. The last 2 drafts may or may not work out, but at least they put us on a path where it will be possible to win games. Keeping my expectations low helps to prevent me getting as angry as I used to.

Global warming err Climate change HOAX
Bill from NYC replied to Very wide right's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
No prob. And thanks oh so much to the great state of Michigan for giving their electoral votes to President Donald J. Trump in 2016, despite the democrat votes of dead people, etc. -

You make a great deal of sense. Obama had it right. Give the worst offenders (India and China) 20 or 30 years to voluntarily make changes, and punish US companies and consumers a few billion so thieves like Gore and the Clintons can get rich. This, as the world is cooling off. I am stunned that there is 1 person who doesn't parrot your sensible, patriotic position on this issue. Thanks for enlightening us. -
I believe what you are saying but I don't get the reasoning. Wouldn't the NFL being a passing league seem to dictate more importance to a Right Tackle? D Linemen stunt all the time looking for a mismatch. Additionally, with the LBs and perhaps even the safeties getting smaller, wouldn't a big, stud RT also be more effective in the running game? I never thought Mills was that good but Ford looks to me like a very good player. Even if his floor is to be an excellent RG I am fine with this. Jmo.

Trade Lawson and a 2020 draft pick for Clowney?
Bill from NYC replied to tomur67's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I would pass on him in a split second. Everything that this team needs is in the 2020 draft. There are probably at least 5 receivers who are better than any who came out in 2019. We have a QB who can throw the ball 5 miles through a brick wall. Let's get him some receivers! I wish that we had even more picks in 2020. Jmo. -

I would be 100% against a trade like this and probably wouldn't even part with a 2nd. The 2020 draft is just that good. -
Fair question but Mills was also not helping whoever was at RG all that much either.

They truly must be tanking for Tua.

Which of these do we need to retire first?
Bill from NYC replied to Kirby Jackson's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Good point. It just seems a bit odd to me but I suppose it isn't a big deal. -

Yes, the most of all time. How many does the coach of your favorite college team have? -

Process all the way. It is embarrassing how he plagiarized that from Nick Saban, who has the championships to back up his call for a "process." -
2020 Drafttek Board is here !!!!
Bill from NYC replied to Buffalo Barbarian's topic in College Football
http://www.espn.com/college-football/player/_/id/4241478/devonta-smith Devonta Smith is best known for his clutch overtime catch in the title game against Georgia. He was only a freshman, but trust me.....he is now a state hero at Alabama. When you look at his stats, remember that Jeudy, Ruggs, Irv Smith, Jaylen Waddle (a name you will keep on hearing), Damien Harris, Josh Jacobs, and Najee Harris also had to see the ball. He also nursed a hamstring problem for a few games and Saban held him out. Devonta isn't as fast as Ruggs and Waddle (they run sub 4.25 40s), nor is he as fast as Jeudy, but he is very quick, has excellent hands, gets open with ease, and is perfectly coordinated. He makes fully extended catches on a regular basis, and I am talking about his entire body being horizontal. He is a quiet kid, one likely to stay out of trouble. Other players on the team talk about how good and unheralded he is. BB, I can't tell you how much I would want this kid on the Bills if he stays healthy. -
Thanks for this. I have been posting this for weeks. This list was correct to include Devonta Smith as a top 10 receiver. His hands might even be as good as those of Jerry Jeudy. I already consider at least 5 wide receivers to be first round worthy and there are still approx. 116 days until the opener (but who's counting?)

ABSOLUTE MISTAKE that Devonta Smith isn't on this list. Imo he is a first round pick if he comes out. I also think that Ruggs was under valued, but I do appreciate the effort put into this! -
Quinnen is a very good player. Make no mistake, he was the best Alabama defensive lineman last year. The thing is, he only started for 1 season. He needs more work but he will do it because he, from all accounts, is a great kid. Unlike most, I didn't think that he would go in the top 5. I thought that he would be there at 9 for us. There are different ways of looking at the DT situation.....We could say that Quinnen benefitted greatly from playing at Alabama. We could also allege that Oliver benefitted from playing against weak sisters compared to Alabama's opponents. Probably some of both is true. I hope that Williams has a great career and wins games against the Pats, and that our draftees (especially Cody Ford) are pro bowlers.

6’4 WR Derek Kief, Alabama tryout with the Bills
Bill from NYC replied to wppete's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Very hard to evaluate this kid. He played behind 4 actually great wide receivers and a very good tight end. He looks good but I am guessing that he was hardly covered. Nothing to lose by bringing him in. If Daboll likes him lets do it!!! -

But not re-signed to a contract, correct? -

I could very well be wrong but I do not think we re-signed Clements. Wasn't he franchised for 1 year?
