Adding an impact WR and RT/TE will still leave some holes at G and LB which could be exploited by opposing teams. This weakness could potentially undo the goodness of adding a WR. And note that the original post claims StevieJ will be part of this maneuver. Which means we will be thin on experience as well on the receving front. All in all, I don't agree that we are a playoff caliber team if we give up our 2nd and Stevie (and note I am not a big Stevie fan and yet hold this opinion). I much rather draft a WR/TE, LB and G with our (current) top picks.

Not denying the general statement that draft has become much more important tool in managing the roster and the cap. But it depends on the position. If we take your logic to the extreme, you seem to indicate that QB is the only position worth a 1st round pick. I disagree. While BPA is generally the best strategy, I wouldnt extend it to include only a few positions such as RB and maybe TE (and the obvious ones such as K, P etc).
-
Yes I missed those. I just got the impression (did not actually count) that the above were positions of most interest. I hope we dont draft a DB or RB with our first pick.
-
So based on the last few weeks of visits, it is evident where the Bills' drafting priorities are: WR/TE, OL, LB and RB. I am fully on board with prioritizing these positions this year.

Just for fun, let me ask you. Can you imagine a girl hot enough to miss the next Bills playoff game for? -
No RB, DB (and ofcourse K, P). BPA at any other position is fine (yes including QB)

Why Not Kick The Tires with Josh Freeman?

Right now, we have two #3s in Lewis and Tuel. We need a reliable, experienced #2. First order of business is getting a #2. And if the FO feels so strongly about Tuel, then let Lewis go. Can't keep hoarding #3 QBs. -

Oh come on, any team led by Rodgers cant be that bad. By that time in the season, it could be Vick. Not that it would change the gist of your post.... -

Why Not Kick The Tires with Josh Freeman?
Fan in Chicago replied to patfitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I am advocating getting Freeman not as competition to EJ but to bolster the backup position. And if it comes to a point where Freeman is pushing EJ for the starter role, we may already be in trouble. For as good as Freeman has been in spots, his inconsistency and undisclosed behind the scene issues should give one pause. Or atleast warrant a thorough due diligence. Which is also why I am specifically talking about him as backup. Agree on every point -

I differ in the point about bringing in someone with experience to backup EJ. IMHO, it is imperative that we bring in a QB with sufficient playing experience. I will go out on a limb and say that the Bills D is adequate enough to get us to the playoffs. On O, we have added depth at OG (CWilliams) and a proven WR (MWilliams). If we get two starters out of this draft (say at TE, OT), the only thing holding us back is the QB position. I am fully on board with giving EJ most of the season to prove himself. But, we have to be prepared for him imploding or getting injured. Based on the way the roster is built, we are too dependent on EJ and we don't know enough to place an entire season's outcome on one hope. As hope is not a strategy, we need to bolster the backup position with someone who has (preferably) starting experience and can protect the football. Not sure if that QB is Freeman, but we better bring someone in before TC. Lewis is too turnover prone to be an adequate #2. As someone else stated, he should be a #3 with Tuel put on PS or let go. -

Have been out of the country and unable to post much, but just to put things in perspective, here are our recent 6th rounders: 2013 Dustin Hopkins K 2012 Mike Asper G 2011 Chris White LB 2010 Arthur Moats, Danny Batten LB 2009 Cary Harris DB 2008 Xavier Omon RB (Though that year we also selected Stevie Johnson and Demetress Bell in the 7th round) 2007 JOhn Wendling DB This trade runs a very low risk of having lost out on a impact player in 2014 draft (yea yea, I know about past history not being an indicator of future success ....) -

A woman gets a nice job to report on your favorite team and all you testosterone fueled posters start mentally undressing her. This is just terrible. I am ashamed to be associated with this lot. That said, I surely would. -
Thad Lewis compared to Backups around the league
Fan in Chicago replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Lewis may be adequate but I do not want to enter the season with him as a #2. He is quite inconsistent to be our primary backup. I was hoping for a more experienced and steady hand if one were available. Our D is now built to win but as expressed in several other threads, QB is our single point of failure and we cannot hope for EJ to stay healthy/develop significantly . I will be interested in who becomes available post-draft. -

My cousin moved there about 8 years ago. She and her family love it. Nice communities, safe and newer shopping areas. Schools are good but be warned of hypercomperitive kids (parents actually) . Always looking to out-do the other kids in terms or academics and activities. So depending if you have kids and the schooling they have been uaed to, this could come as a shock.

Pretty, quiet town .Friendly people, nothing in terms of night life. Excellent outdoor activity region. Tough to buy and (especially) sell houses so dont buy one till you are ready to conmit to the town on a long term basis. Depending on your lifestyle, yu could love or hate this place.
