DK Metcalf requests trade to a contender
BuffaloRebound replied to HappyDays's topic in The Stadium Wall
1st rounder seems kind of steep for Metcalf. He relies on his straight line speed and he’s getting near the point in his career where he might lose a step. -
Dorion Williams youngest LB in league this year to lead in tackles
BuffaloRebound replied to DJB's topic in The Stadium Wall
Dorian is one of our few back 7 defenders who brings the wood and plays with violence. I’ll live with him being out of position sometimes in pass coverage since so many defenders in a Mcdermott defense are either soft or undersized or both. -
Not my money, but I’d find a way to keep Rousseau. The cap keeps going up and NFL owners continue to print money. Is he great?… no. But he’s good, continues to get better and getting rid of him doesn’t make us better unless it’s for a draft haul or Myles Garrett.

Packers open to trading CB Jaire Alexander
BuffaloRebound replied to Dablitzkrieg's topic in The Stadium Wall
Doubtful about Elam. Dude starts grabbing and holding as soon as ball is snapped. -
Packers open to trading CB Jaire Alexander

He’s only 28 and was elite at one point. We need elite players. -
Harold Landry given permission to seek trade

Don’t disagree but outside of Mack can’t see any of those higher tier guys playing on a different team next year. -
Harold Landry given permission to seek trade

$17.5m for 10 sacks is a bargain. If you re-sign rousseau in the $20m per year range and you’re also playing oliver $20m+, it’s hard to go much over $17.5m for another D lineman. Landry kinda fits next to oliver and rousseau, then draft a DT in the 1st round. Maybe a swap of one of our 2nd rounders for their high 4th rounder gets it done. -
https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/titans-give-harold-landry-permission-to-talk-to-teams-about-a-trade This is much more realistic trade target for Bills. He’s only 28 and has 2 years left on reasonable contract.

Commanders DT Johnathan Allen Released.
BuffaloRebound replied to BuffaloBillyG's topic in The Stadium Wall
Sounds like they’re gonna cut him. Doubt anybody’s trading for him with that money due him. I’d be cool with him or bosa on an incentive based contract, -
I thought it was kinda weird how they let coleman kinda make an a$$ out of himself in interviews right after he was drafted. Bills media team seem to even highlight it because it was funny. Maybe they needed a personality in the WR room once they traded Diggs, but it really did Coleman no favors putting a larger spotlight on him before he accomplished a thing in the NFL. Almost reminds me of Mike Williams the Offensive Lineman we drafted over 20 years ago. Do something on an NFL field first before your holding court with the media.

If he replaces Elam’s roster spot, I like it. And he wouldn’t cost much more than the vet minimum. Could see McBeane making safety a priority in free agency and then drafting a CB in the 1st or 2nd round.

Stafford given permission to seek trade
BuffaloRebound replied to Kirby Jackson's topic in The Stadium Wall
Mcvay and Snead aren’t gonna be held hostage by a 37 year old QB who probably doesn't have enough escapability anymore to win a a Super Bowl. -
His injury history is a huge factor but he’s also just 29. Mack is 34 years old. That is a huge difference in NFL years. Bosa might still be able to give you an All Pro type year. Bosa on a prove it deal and a trade up for a stud DT in round 1 could transform the D Line and still give McBeane the ability tj sign a good CB in free agency.
-
Agreed. He has the talent to be the final piece. Sign him to a 1 year incentive based deal.
-
Trade up for one of the Michigan D tackles. Given McBeanes track record in the 1st and 2nd round, might as well use one of the extra 2nd rounders to move up.

Defensive Tackle: Is it the Players or the System?
BuffaloRebound replied to Rubes's topic in The Stadium Wall
Paying for good not great isn’t a championship formula. You can’t do the same with Rousseau who I like, but $20+million each for both Oliver and Rousseau is not a good allocation of resources. -
Defensive Tackle: Is it the Players or the System?
BuffaloRebound replied to Rubes's topic in The Stadium Wall
Excellent point. Our lack of size at LB/nickel and safety means our DT’s have to keep the O-Line from getting to the 2nd level as much or more than the O-Line has to worry about our DT’s penetrating. It’s not a defensive philosophy that is gonna win you a championship. -
I kind of agree. McDermott is a good leader and motivator, but his defensive philosophy of small undersized players playing a conservative reactive defense is never gonna get you a Super Bowl.
-
For a league that prints money, this is an extremely small time production.

Is there not an actual awards show? Whatever I’m watching on NFL network is awful television.

Is McD actually compensating for Beane?
BuffaloRebound replied to Mikie2times's topic in The Stadium Wall
Beane gets Mcdermott pretty much exactly what he wants on defense within the confines of the cap. We spent like crazy on the defense when Josh was still on his rookie deal. And those defenses still crumbled and provided no resistance when it counted. Back then, it was Daboll’s fault because the offense didn’t run the ball enough and control the clock for the defense. The real problem is McDermott prefers undersized players who can be in the right spot consistently instead of more physical players who can lock their man up or whoop the guy trying to block them. That philosophy works over a 16/17 game regular season especially when you have an elite offense. It has not worked in the playoffs against the best teams.
