  1. All the more similar to Sanchez.
  2. If Green is clearly the best player available at #3, I'd have no problems with the Bills trading down. Even if Green turns out to be a 10 year Pro Bowler, at some point the Bills have to address the putrid Front 7. Draft looks pretty heavy on defensive linemen. 2 front 7 guys, an OT, and a QB of the future with #17, #28, #33, and #34 sounds good to me.
  3. Say no to 2nd and 3rd round QB's Pretty good article on 2nd and 3rd round QB's. Horrible success rate. Only criticism of the article is that they use 18 years worth of data, which conveniently leaves Favre out of the analysis. Still wouldn't change the success rate that much. My 2 cents is that QB is the most scrutinized and coveted position. So if a college QB grades out, he'll get taken in the 1st round.
  4. No. That applies to rookies who've had disappointing years and should worry about contributing. Merriman is a former Pro Bowler who has been to the playoffs.
  5. The torch has been passed from Whitner to Spiller.
  6. Fairley reminds of an old school defensive lineman in the mold of the Steel Curtain and Purple People Eaters. Big and intimidating. He seems like he'd be able to play end in a 3-4. He was lined up there a lot last night. For a DT, he was making a lot of plays all over the field. Would love to get him but I doubt he lasts to #3.
  7. I am intrigued by his talent, but not at #3.
  8. I must be watching a different game than some of you. Newton's passing ability has positively surprised me. He's got a much stronger arm than I thought and is pretty accurate. Potentially, I see a Roethlisberger with better speed. The ability to keep a play alive is why a lot of those guys are wide open and also the fact that you have to respect his ability to run.
  9. Watching the game and I agree about Miller. He looks like a safety rushing the passer. I'd be surprised if his playing weight is 230 much less 240. He has good speed and can bend under OT's, but this guy reminds me way too much of Maybin for my liking.
  10. He will never get drafted higher than he would have this year. He might be drafted #1 next year, he might not. He will almost surely not make more money than he would have this year. Football is a sport where you are always 1 play away from serious injury. Your reasoning would make far more sense for a different sport.
  11. Probably closer to Michael Vick 2.0 than Jamarcus Russell 2.0. He's better than Brohm, and I'd love to see what Gailey could do with him. If he flakes out, cut him and you haven't lost much. Similar to a Merriman type signing.
  12. Bradford 'could very well have been' is RIDICULOUSLY different than being told you will be the #1 pick by the team picking. I'm glad you applaud him. You also probably have zero concept of risk and reward.
  13. I'm sure getting his degree now instead a few years from now will really impress all the NFL GM's, the ones who will be paying him $60m. This decision is all risk and zero reward. Carolina already came out and said he will be the #1 pick. Manning played at a football factory. Luck goes to one of the best schools in the country where athletes take serious classes and are expected to attend and do the work.
  14. Bradford wasn't the prospect that Luck was at the same time and also needed to fill out. Bradford was not a slam dunk top pick or even top 5 pick at the end of his sophomore year. Oklahoma also competes for a national title every year. I don't think Bradford mentioned staying for any reason other than football. Locker, like Luck, cited not wanting to leave the college atmosphere. Huge red flag.
  15. This raises major questions about him just as it did with Locker last year. Probably moreso because it looks like he's losing his coach and Carolina came out and said they'd take him at #1. Gotta question his competitive nature. What's he got left to prove at the college level?
  16. I agree with a lot of what you are saying. Fitz is almost the perfect QB to have when drafting a Qb at the top of the draft. He's smart, seems like a team guy, you don't have to throw the rookie out there immediately, and he provides a nice benchmark for a rookie to overcome to get on the field. Newton will be the guy Nix has to make the decision on at #3.
  17. The way this franchise has drafted in the 1st round, I'd give up as many future 1st rounders as the League will allow in a trade.
  18. As bad as our Front 7 is, our CB's are horrible against the run. Can't remember a single time this year a CB has come up and made a stop.
  19. If Jets rest their starters, Brohm should start as well as guys like Maybin and McCargo. Who cares if Fitzpatrick carves up the Jets 2nd stringers? Can't take anything from it and you could lose a lot of draft slots.
  20. What a joke. I'm sure the the Strength and Conditioning thought that up all by himself.
  21. He's not big and plays stiff. The blitz yesterday where he was basically unblocked and ran right past Roethlisberger illustrated all his shortcomings. Couldn't slow down and change directions.
  22. Evans is afraid to get hit. He is necessary to stretch the field, but the way he avoids contact is maddening. He is the anti Hines Ward.
  23. Why not? The guy probably has more career sacks than our entire team and is still young. Sign him to a reasonable 1 year deal. If he's done, so be it. I'd rather piss away a couple $million on Merriman's chances than Maybin's.
  24. Ideal scenario would be winning 2-3 games, be competitive in every game, still get the #1 pick, Merriman re-finds his form and likes it here, and Luck declares for the draft.
  25. Good job by Bell completely whiffing on that block.
