  1. If we're competing against a Super Bowl contender for Adams' services, maybe this is an issue. Otherwise, money is money. Kind of an unnecessary obnoxious comment by Schefter. He should stick to re-gurgitating what insiders tell him.
  2. Agreed. Bell isn't good enough to be handed the job. Bring in Adams in the hope Bell improves and beats him out. If not, at least you have a veteran there.
  3. Could also work both ways. If we can stop the run, Whitner or another safety won't have to constantly cheat against the run. Having a head coach who's only expertise was DB's at least gives you a decent secondary.
  4. The good thing is that he is really young and that might be intriguing to Nix who looks like he's building for the long term. If we start the year with Bell at LT, don't see how they're giving this team or the QB's a chance at all. The Ravens also have a need at CB, which they didn't address in the draft. I wouldn't trade draft picks for Gaither. Draft picks are too important to a team like the Bills. How about McKelvin for Gaither?
  5. Not all 1AA's are equal. Colonial is the best 1AA conference by far. Comparable to the MAC. Dominating that level is no small feat.
  6. Gronkowski is pretty intriguing. Local kid and Bills have never had a difference maker at Tight End. If Gailey can figure out how to play 3 RB's, he can get 2 TE's on the field too.
  7. Like this thinking. Not that many teams ahead of us in 2nd round looking for LT's. Miami most likely takes Mount Cody the pick before us.
  8. I think that Clausen is there at #41 if we want him. Cleveland is the only other team likely to take a QB before us and they supposedly like McCoy. Don't think Minnesota takes Clausen - their window is small and that might push Favre into retirement. I still think we pass even if he's there at #41. The way the 1st round played out, Spiller looked like the right pick. Davis from Rutgers was the only other need pick that went close to #9.
  9. So the choices are trade back into 1st for Clausen, Tebow, or McCoy. Or trade for Campbell, Vick, Thigpen, Roethlisberger... missing anyone?
  10. My main concern with Clausen is that Notre Dame is a unique place. Most if not all of the guys playing on Notre Dame have a good head on their shoulders and probably have good prospects in life even if they don't play in the NFL. 95% of the guys playing in the NFL are not like that. The NFL is a much less forgiving place and I worry about Clausen being able to command the respect an NFL QB needs. What may have worked at Notre Dame may not have worked at Florida, USC, and other football factories which more resemble what it's like in the NFL. He's a better QB than Losman, but I worry he has some of the same personality traits as Losman and playing at Notre Dame masked that.
  11. Boom: Golden Tate Jerry Hughes Cody Bust: Clausen Rolando McClain Anyone drafted by the Raiders
  12. It means he's not going to take a guy not ready to contribute right away, like Maybin, Pierre-Paul, Anthony Davis. My guess would be the pick is between Spiller and Dan Williams, if Okung and Trent Williams are gone. Impossible to know if Clausen is the pick because it will totally depend on Gailey and Nix being sold on Clausen's intangibles.
  13. Agreed. Nix's specialty is college scouting and the draft. He will take the Best Player Available and someone who can play right away at #9.
  14. Agreed on Clausen. Came off immature and uncomfortable. Don't think he is talented enough to get away with that in an NFL locker room. I also don't think he would have got away with that at a USC, Texas, or Florida either. Street/toughness factor is lacking at Notre Dame and I think he is in for a rude awakening in the NFL.
  15. Wow. Roethlisberger is a piece of garbage. If I was that girl's father, I'd take a baseball bat to his knees and handle the suspension myself.
  16. At least he won't be retiring at age 26 to be a teacher. Don't think it takes much book smarts to be a running back.
  17. Yes. I'll take the judgement of Shanahan, Carroll, and Holmgren over anyone in our organization or on this message board. I especially think if Clausen gets past Carroll and Seattle, that says the most. No one knows him better besides his own coaches than Carroll.
  18. Assuming St Louis takes Bradford, that leaves 7 teams before the Bills. 3 arguably have a franchise QB or have invested a lot in a QB the last year (Detroit, KC, Tampa). That means 4 teams in need of a QB would have to pass on Clausen. If he's that good, he doesn't get past those 4 teams. If he does, that means Shanahan (basically already passed by taking McNabb), Carroll (who recruited him in high school and played him every year), Holmgren (known as a QB guru), and the Raiders didn't think he was a franchise QB. Basically, if he's deserving, Clausen won't be there at 9.
  19. How about Vick, Spiller, and Gaither? And you still have all your draft picks from the 3rd round and beyond.
  20. I don't see how the Bills draft him at #9 and keep Kyle Williams. If he's the 9th pick, he better be playing the majority of the snaps.
  21. It's more than just the offensive line and QB. The entire offense sucks. Fred Jackson was the only guy who could do anything, but he's not a home run threat. Evans is one-dimensional. Nelson has some potential at TE. Playmakers at WR and RB are as big of a need as QB and OT. If Spiller is the best player available at #9, pull the trigger.
  22. I'm starting to come around to this. Kindle, Pierre-Paul, Graham, kid from GT. We should have the pick of all of them. Historically, 9th pick seems to be in the sweet spot range for pass rushers...Freeney, Demarcus Ware, Merriman. Pierre-Paul is pretty intriguing. Kid is an athletic freak. I know he's only played 1 year, but he'd probably be a top 5 pick otherwise. This is where having a guy in charge with Nix's experience should help. I'm sure he'll be highly skeptical and cover all bases with a guy like Pierre-Paul.
  23. Give them Edwards. Whitner has more value than Campbell.
  24. Just don't think Claussen and Buffalo are a good match. Not really an indictment of his playing ability, just don't think he'd take to Buffalo and vice versa. Tebow who be perfect if he could throw.
  25. I agree with this. Bruce lined up over the Center a lot in passing situations and took advantage of his ridiculous 1st step. I also remember Bruce lining up wherever he thought the weak link on the offensive line was. There were many times when he wanted no part of Munoz or Richmond Webb and lined up somewhere else. Can't really do that in a 4 man front. It was a lot easier to shove Jeff Wright to a different gap.
