  1. No thoughts happening today, I guess... Wilson sounds like an interesting prospect, even for a Div 2 guy. He sounds like he was the star of the show at North Alabama.
  2. Trades are fun to think about, though, and occasionally drool over. But like many other fantasies, trade fantasies don't usually come true. Why did they move the draft to friggin' MAY?!?!
  3. How can a kid commit for 2017? That seems premature for both parties.
  4. Does anyone know if Jim Irsay paid some huge estate taxes (to take ownership of the Colts) when his father Bob Irsay died? Not that it applies to the Bills, since none of Mr Wilson's family intends to take over the team.
  5. My high school should have a haircut rule. Make sure nobody wears those darned Beatle haircuts! Oh wait a minute...
  6. He was inducted into the HOF, and I'm glad he had a few years afterwards to enjoy the honor. Better than having it awarded to him posthumously. So, in that sense, he did get his due (at least as a league founder).
  7. Rest in peace, Mr Wilson, and thank you for everything! I am so glad Ralph Wilson made the Hall of Fame while he was still alive to enjoy it.
  8. Davis has already had his big 2nd contract payday. How is he supposed to make $40 Million plus now that he is 30 yrs old? He can probably play for 5 more years, but the gigantic payday has likely already occurred. What a strange business model - it must be geared toward gamblers.
  9. How about spending a draft pick on the best punter prospect you can find? Where else do you expect to find a punter - retreads and has-beens?
  10. The article mentions he is projected as a 3rd or 4th round prospect. Or #1 overall in the CFL Draft. The Ottawa Roughriders disbanded a couple years ago IIRC. I'm glad to see Ottawa will have football again, but a little disappointed they will not be called the Roughriders. Now they are the Ottawa Redblacks. I always found it amusing that the CFL had 9 teams and two of them were called Roughriders. Well, one team was the Rough Riders (two words). I once heard an explanation that the Rough Riders from the East (Ottawa) were named for loggers who rode logs down the river. The Western (or Midwest) Rough Riders rode horses, moving cattle around.
  11. Sort of like the lights going out at last year's Super Bowl, eh?
  12. This is a good synopsis of the show. It can make you feel much better about OL Chris Williams. GG also said he thinks only one QB will go in the top 10 picks. Thanks, Tipster, for the link. Very interesting talk about Williams and Graham.
  13. I think you mean Robinson (Auburn OT). I think there is an OG later named Richardson. RT at #9 may be a stretch, but these (Matthews and Robinson) are guys who could play LT if Glenn had an injury. That is the value of a great RT at #9. I would prefer to go another way, Watkins or Mack if available. Don't know if Mosely is worth it at 9. Trade down would be great, given the depth of this draft.
  14. Thanks, Jamie, for the heads up on this show. It really was cool to watch EJ looking for a place to live. Seems like a hard working young guy who will do all he can to improve his craft.
  15. OC, I wanted to thank you for this great post a few weeks back. I have worked with SQL, and read about Hadoop, etc, but did not have a good understanding of analytics. You gave a great explanation of the concepts. The phrase "required reading" came up in the Jim Schwartz post, and I think your posts in this thread qualified as required reading also.
  16. This is a great article. I love the line that says: "Belichick regards Schwartz as one of the smartest coaches he has been around..." THAT is the guy the Bills need at DC. I am very excited about this hire. I remember the impressive Titans defenses from those years JS was their DC.
  17. Let's not forget the Pats RT Marcus Cannon, the master of the leg whip. I recall two of his leg whips this season which were not called by the refs, but were noted by the announcers.
  18. Here's a great line from the article: "Winslow sprang to an upright position when the officer arrived." And this: "But the cop also noticed "two open containers of Vaseline on his center console" and plastic bags marked "Mr. Happy" and empty plastic containers of "Funky Monkey" scattered throughout the vehicle." Get a room!
  19. Also on Sat Jan 18 is the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl, on ESPN2. http://collegiate.nflpa.com/
  20. Same thing the other day when Teddy Bridgewater came out beating his chest, all full of himself. On the first or second drive, he gets sacked for a safety. I had to chuckle. Of course, he went on to whip beat Miami like they were a high school team. Mostly, the U's OL stunk and their QB got buried repeatedly.
  21. When you have all-new everything (coaches, schemes, many players, even the GM), especially 3 green QBs, winning a lot of games in year #1 is not a reasonable expectation. I know many of us had great hopes for an instant turnaround, but you have to be realistic. You can see the foundation being built this year, and another offseason (hopefully, offense-oriented FA and draft), Bills will be competitive next year.
  22. Mike Mayock had a lot of nice things to say about Joe D during the last Thursday night game. Joe even got some brief camera time. My guess is that none of Chan's assistants wanted to stay (nor were they asked to stay) when Chan and the whole staff was dismissed.
  23. And BTW, if you have only seen Nick on a card, the last name is pronounced like "micka-meyer". I just looked him up (although I remember him playing with the Bills) and found out two things: He was born in Bologna, Italy. He was a member of the San Antonio Gunslingers (for you old USFL fans)
