  1. Even though I'm critical of McDermott, I would not fire him after this season. Heck, I have 50 people here convincing me that sucking this bad is all part of the process to be great again. So I would allow him to get the rookie QB some valuable experience this year, fill in the holes this coming offseason with draft picks and all this cap space to sign free agents. I do think the season has spiraled out of control in a bad way though.
  2. As we dissect Josh Allen's throws. here's an Interesting read about Trubisky, who now has 14 starts under his belt.. and was taken well ahead of Mahomes. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mack's athleticism is on par with his power—which makes him nearly impossible to slow down. The same can't be said about the Bears offense, since Trubisky's play tends to sputter at times. The unit performed at its best the last two weeks within the structure of predetermined play-calling at the beginning of contests. Chicago scored touchdowns on both of its opening drives this year. Trubisky is 10-of-11 passing for 154 yards and two total touchdowns in those instances, according to ESPN Stats & Information. Once Nagy's preplanned approach is complete, last year's second overall pick doesn't appear nearly as comfortable in his role, even though the Bears have done everything in their power to make him so. Nagy and offensive coordinator Mark Helfrich instituted many collegiate concepts to expedite Trubisky's maturation as a starting quarterback. It's helped to a degree, but the second-year signal-caller continues to struggle with decision-making, overall accuracy and pocket awareness. Quarterback play starts with footwork. Trubisky has a bad habit of not driving through the football. His poor technique led to the first of two interceptions when he couldn't get enough on a deep sideline attempt and underthrew Allen Robinson. Instead, Shaquill Griffin came down with the pass. Griffin struck again later in the second quarter when he snagged a tipped pass out of the air. Improper balance occurs when a quarterback isn't shifting his weight from his back foot onto his plant leg. Trubisky tends to airmail passes when this occurs. Also, the quarterback nearly maneuvered his way into a couple sacks and should have thrown a third interception when he bailed from the pocket early despite a lack of pressure. Of course, it's a process. The Bears understand this. Trubisky has yet to start a full NFL season. Nagy is encouraged about some of the adjustments his quarterback made from the first week to the second. "This is going to be fun," the coach said, per the Chicago Tribune's Rich Campbell. "I'm excited for our future together." As the Kansas City Chiefs' Patrick Mahomes II tears up the league with 10 touchdown passes through two weeks, some disappointment has to set in, since the Bears chose Trubisky eight picks before Mahomes came off the board. The Bears quarterback has nine touchdown passes through 14 contests.
  3. Its' easy and lazy for reporters to link Vontae Davis to a "culture thing".. but to me it is and always will be a Vontae Davis issue.
  4. I don't think there will be anything good about this game. The Vikes, imo, are better at most positions than the Ravens. We won't have Peterman wasting our time in this game but I don't foresee Allen doing much. I'm really hoping he can just stay away from Interceptions and of course injury. Well, maybe there is one good thing...I have the Vikings DST in fantasy.
  5. Well, it's right about now I'm wishing Frank Reich was our coach... who know if they would have drafted Allen? But at least Frank could mentor and properly oversee a rookie QB.
  6. We've seen some messed up stuff in the news but this really gets me upset. In Ames, Iowa no less on a golf course. People can't just live their lives in peace. RIP to this girl. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-6179199/Ex-Iowa-State-golfer-dead-course-suspect-charged.html
  7. Didn't the Sabres do that by signing one of Eichel's college linemates? Anyway, I believe the McBeane mindset is that the defense should be stronger and it's the only unit that will be able to keep them in games this year. The offense is gonna be rough and no matter who they bring in it won't appreciably make the offense better this year.
  8. I literally wrote the same thing at the same time, lol
  9. Oh man, Wilson stares down his WR and serves up a Peterman special. Pick 6 for Chicago
  10. Welcome to the NFL Russell Wilson, where your best receiver is hurt and you have subpar running backs and O-line. Playing QB in this league is hard. He’s made it look easy till now
  11. Allen and Trubisky seem like similar players right now. Except one is a rookie and one is in year 2. They both make some nice improvised plays and both sail passes or throw with a poor trajectory. But again, Allen has one start, Mitch has 14. So hopefully Allen gets better by his 14th start.
  12. He is. Trubisky just sailed a 20 yd pass over a wide open receivers head
  13. I could be wrong, but I thought I read last season somewhere that one guy affiliated with Barstool is either from the Buffalo area and/or grew up a Bills fan. He knows the deal in WNY surrounding Bills games hence the search for content after every Bills home game. Or he knows people will send it to them.
  14. Yeah i liked the TD pass and catch. Too many people are trying to tell me today that Allen racked up all his stats in a garbage time drive and one under-thrown ball to Zay.
  15. yeah the Baltimore mop up duty pulled him down. But like i said, with experience and better players around him, he will be better. But % is a good indicator .
  16. True, True. Let's hope he brings together his entire package of leadership, arm, etc.. to be the guy we need. But if you're a QB with a 58% completion, along with a slightly below 1:1 TD to Interception ratio, along with some running ability...your name is Geno Smith.
  17. I hear ya. If he's hitting at 55% completion this year (which isn't very good), then I think he can improve that to 58-60% with experience and better players around him. But to be honest, if he's a 55% or below passer this season, I doubt he ever gets to a very healthy 64%+ or greater that the elite QB's have. You can't learn to do that.
  18. Yes, he's holding on to the ball way too long in the pocket. but hey, he's improving from week 1 to week 2!
  19. Those Pittsburgh Steelers superstars are not playing around this year. In addition, several Steelers seem grumpy about their personal situations, or the situations of their teammates...or the media. Fun times in Pittsburgh.
  20. Yes, exactly. Thank you. Nice to see a few people on the board can read through the thread and understand my point.
  21. They kind of are. For example, the Redskins fans are getting killed this morning on locals DC radio. The team announced only 57K for opening day (looked more like 40K), coming off a big road win and expectations that they are as good as any in the NFC East. Philly is looking less than impressive. The loyal Bills fans will show up en-masse, all you gotta do is give em just a little something to get excited about.
  22. As much as I'm hoping for it, it's just not realistic to expect Allen to be slinging it all over the place with success. He's still trying to process everything and therefore he's holding the ball too long. Not to mention the receivers aren't getting wide open, except for that DiMarco play. I just want him to look competent, which he did. Even Alex Smith so far this season has thrown more than half his passes to running backs.
  23. I'll be happy if the Bills can even take a lead into halftime at some point let alone win a game. and I suspect it would have to happen via a defensive or special teams TD getting tossed into the mix. and some Allen improvement of course.
  24. Agree with a lot of what you said. And despite my being upset with the huge drop-off from even last year.... I am not advocating to fire McD and Beane. After getting their new QB experience and infusing talent in the 2019 offseason, I would expect a significant improvement next season from what we are seeing this year.
