The Buffalo media in a sentence.
ndirish1978 replied to turftoe's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Hahahha. Scapegoats? You don't have to think the team is great to dislike the local media. So defensive. The team is incompentent and so are the reporters covering it. -
Thanks for this

Best case - We luck into a good HC and draft a Future HOF QB in the 1st Worst Case - We board the coaching carrousel yet again, hire someone who will just be fired in 2 years and keep Whaley around to head the next search h

The Buffalo media in a sentence.
ndirish1978 replied to turftoe's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Here you go: Not blaming the media for the GM's poor ability to communicate. But i do believe TBN and Rodak are incompetent hacks who make up drama because the FO doesn't respect them enough to give them interviews. They talk to Vrentas and Wawrow, so it seems they just don't like the locals. -

Well, they aren't here to shape the "narrative" so by their logic we can say whatever we want about them. -

Entitled drama troupe feel snubbed, manufacture stories about jocks. Note - I'm talking pretty much exclusively about TBN + Rodak -

Don't understand all the fuss about Whaley and Pegs
ndirish1978 replied to Dragonborn10's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Press conference was the most smug Whaley i've seen in a while, media hates him because he doesn't care about giving them stories. If you don't believe me, just look at Graham and Rodaks twitter over the past few days -

I always wonder what "around the league" really means. Carucci said the same thing in an interview and then indicated that he meant the various MEDIA outlets around the league thought the conference was bad. That's a bit weak. -

"The Buffalo Bills are uniquely terrible because they’ve somehow never been decent enough to stumble into the postseason or bad enough to draft well and bounce back in a big way." This kind of bummed me out. You'd think in 17 years we could have been bad enough to luck into a decent 1st rd QB - oh wait, Ej is the only one we've even drafted this DECADE. Here are our 1st rd picks since the drought started: 2016 Shaw Lawson DE 2015 No Pick 2014 Sammy Watkins WR 2013 EJ Manuel QB 2012 Stephon Gilmore CB 2011 Marcell Dareus DT 2010 C.J. Spiller RB 2009 Aaron Maybin DE 2009 Eric Wood C 2008 Leodis McKelvin CB 2007 Marshawn Lynch RB 2006 Donte Whitner SS 2006 John McCargo DT 2005 No Pick-- 2004 Lee Evans WR 2004 J.P. Losman QB 2003 Willis McGahee RB 2002 Mike Williams T Texas 2001 Nate Clements CB 2000 Erik Flowers DE -

Well if we draft him then he and Duke Williams can commiserate on what it's like to have the same gross porn star shade you on twitter. -

AP reports facts, probably best to stick to reading them. Everyone else is just concerned with "hot takes". As long as people are sitting down and watching Skip Bayless spew his nonsense and engaging in twitter feuds with TBN, this will not change. -
AP John Wawrow interview with Terry Pegula
ndirish1978 replied to Reed83HOF's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Your article and Jenny Vrentas piece are really the only two pieces of real reporting we got out of the whole thing, so thank you for that. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ FTR I think continuity questions are fair, but I feel like the hierarchy of the team questions had been answered by Rex months ago, he told us that he reported to the Pegulas directly. -
Vic stated that he believes the national perception of the team is poor because the national media thinks it's poor. The. Ational media is just parroting Vic and the other schlubs over at TBN. So basically he's saying "the team is a mess because I say so." I did lol when he specified that Pegula gav an interview "the the AP". It's so obvious he's salty about having zero access

GM Doug Whaley's end of season press conference

Exactly - THIS is the reason the media is upset. They aren't getting any quotes so they generate controversy for its own sake -
GM Doug Whaley's end of season press conference
ndirish1978 replied to Rico's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I disagree. i think he came off as having no respect for the reporters and didn't really care to answer their questions. It was clear from the minute he went up there that he was just there to spin and dodge all the questions. I don't think he necessarily needed to prep for avoiding giving any answers. -
Any interest in NFL Divisional Realignment or Relegation?
ndirish1978 replied to Peevo's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah, I'm sure owners who shelled out billions of dollars for a team are going to jump at the idea of having that team relegated to the minor leagues and killing their investment. -
These press conferences are pretty useless. Apart from maybe a funny anecdote we're never going to get actual information. The team is obligated to meet with the media and so we get canned answers like "we'll evaluate everything" and "we will make the best decision for this organization" or "we have to get things right." This leads to frustration by the media and in TBN's case, leads them to generate their own content through turmoil. There are other teams where the HC and GM report to the owner directly - Jenny Vrentas' article confirms this. What we have here is a case where the owners don't like press scrums, but they are the people who made the actual decisions here. Of course Whaley and Lynn were left "twisting in the wind", they didn't have the information that the press wanted and they were hounded for it. Would it have been nice to have some more info on the whole process? Sure. Are we owed that information? No. Do I believe this team is dysfunctional? More likely than not. Is it possible that things are exactly what they're saying they are? Sure. It's entirely possible that the Pegulas listened to the wrong person in hiring Rex (Brandon), saw that they made a mistake and attempted to correct that mistake by letting Rex go when he asked about his future and are attempting to right the ship by letting Whaley head up the search. None of this is helped by the contentious relationship Whaley obviously has with the media. He needs to be better at managing these press conferences because they distract focus from his stated goal of improving the team.

Sully: A New Low Point For Pegula, Bills
ndirish1978 replied to Rico's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
These are people who are writing about sports in a local paper in a small market, we're not talking about people at the top of their profession. As in many other professions were there is a "big league" and minor leagues, the people in the lower reaches tend to pump themselves up so they can feel validated. I'm sure TBN reporters think they are "holding the organization accountable" and being mavericks asking "tough questions." The problem is, these reporter aren't good at their jobs. I got more information from Jenny Vrentas and Wawrow's articles than I did from that whole 40 minute press conference. I didn't need a 40 minute press conference to tell me that the organizational structure here is a poor one; I have been posting for weeks about how Whaley has little real power and how I think it's a huge mistake not to empower your GM. -
To clarify. I AGREE with the article, I just think it's interesting that it's finally becoming a story now. Brandon has been IMO the driving force behind most of the bad decisions made around here over the past decade. He was even de facto GM when Levy resigned. Does anyone really believe the guy was took on the GM role, while completely unqualified to do so, failed miserably and then got promoted isn't the puppet-master here?
