I get what you are saying. Forbidden Planet has it's fun moments as well, and I think a re-make of it would be a good idea. Steven Spielberg's re-make of "War of the Worlds" & Peter Jackson's "King Kong" are exceptional films. Of course there was also the re-make of "The Day the Earth Stood Still".

I presume you are talking about the very start of the season when there are a lot of non-conference games? That still happens today. There are quite a few big non-conference games that still occur. In 2019 we have these match-ups to look forward too.... Florida Vs. Miami(FLA) Georgia Vs. Notre Dame Michigan State Vs. Arizona State Florida State Vs. Boise State Auburn Vs. Oregon Michigan Vs. Notre Dame Texas Vs. Louisiana State UCLA Vs. Oklahoma Clemson Vs. Texas A&M Central Florida Vs. Stanford Penn State Vs. Buffalo

Yeesh! They lost by nearly 30 to the Lobos. Florida State lost to Virginia and fell by the same amount of spots in the rankings. That's wrong.

Nevada got a reality check when they got beaten up by New Mexico. Despite that, I highly doubt the NCAA would give them a #1 or #2, no matter how good they finish.
