  1. Me too on both. I add Russell Wilson. I root for the underdog for sure, but I do now believe that he could be a good backup player with a shot at being a good starter. All at a discount pick. (not round 1) I think he's a better player than Thigpen with upside potential.
  2. Eh... There are many ways to win in the NFL. The easiest is having a crapload of pro-bowl type players. That's what my wish is. A pro-bowl level player at a starting position (no p/k). I'll take him even if he's a safety. Offense or defense, just give me a top 5 position guy.
  3. Yeah, he's a long shot to stick on the roster. He's still got a small shot this year because the switch back to a 4-3 works in his favor. He is a DE and not a good 3-4 OLB. I like his hustle, and maybe the switch back to DE will make things clearer for him, and allow him to play better. But it looked to me like he just didn't have enough talent. IMO if he has a STELLAR camp, he might be a mid-season injury replacement.
  4. 1. Gilmore: Eh. Okay. We'll need one for next year, we can probably stumble about this year w/o a highly picked one. 2. Barron: A little stunned. Think they must REALLY like this guy. But like a CB, we'll probably need a S next year. This year, would replace scott and be an injury replacement starter. Next year starter. 3. Kuechly: Nervously excited. An obvious first day starter. That's good, right? 4. Floyd: He DOES look good on the field, but WRs are all over the place. Statistically better to pick one up in 2nd round. 5. any LT other than Kalil: Glenn I'd be okay with, but a little disappointed. 6. a trade up for Kalil: Yikes! We need depth, and a lot of it. Don't want to lose a high 2nd. 7. Tannehill: NOOOOoooo!! Will need lots of Alcohol for this one. Too much of a gamble for me.
  5. Short blurb by Buffalo Bills Scout Bryan Fisher on Jeff Allen: http://wgr550.com/Bills--Scout-Session--2/12022322?pid=235227
  6. Lol! My opinion has changed now that Nix is in charge. I really feel like every part of the front office is on the same page, and a former scout is in charge of the draft. Before it seemed like there were too many stories about how the scouts really wanted one guy, the coach another and the front office picked a third guy. That doesn't mean I think they walk on water, or that they'll hit on every pick. But, I sure believe that they are going to hit on more than we used to. If they think Barron is a pro-bowl type player. I'm on board. Remember, Nix was part of the San Diego regime that picked a LOT of pro-bowl players (from Wikipedia): That's 3+6+11+8 for 28 selections over his last 4 years. Sign me up!
  7. Nice! Yup. Yeah, that's no new personality feature of his either. He's been a tool for a long time. Having watched him a bunch through his career, I REALLY didn't want him.
  8. Indirectly only. Main things: 1> Rumors are that the Bills really like him and the Bills may have a "shock pick". 2> Nix has said don't believe the mock drafts as to who the Bills will pick. 3> Nix has repeated his philosophy/desire to pick their highest rated player regardless of need (especially in the first round IMO) See recent quote: 4> History. Nix has often said in the recent past that a position (such as Tackle) was on their priority list and yet waited until later rounds to address, such as waiting on tackle the 4th or 5th round to draft one. 'Priority' means different things to Buddy.
  9. Man, no joke. It's pure entertainment for me. I feel a little like I'm listening to a preacher and I should shout "Amen!" every now and then.
  10. That's obviously the worry. My impression is that Keek is more mobile and faster than Poz. He seems like a "high floor" kind of a guy. Someone will end up with a solid to good LB who might be very good. There are worse people to draft.
  11. Buddy clearly said only a few things definitively this year. We won't draft a TE. Don't believe that we have to spend our 1st rounder on a pass rusher (a while ago) Don't believe who the mock drafts say we will pick at #10. He has 10 guys and will be happy with whoever isn't drafted in the first 9. We want to add two tackles. He wants a difference maker at 10 who he thinks will start. Only the difference maker comment casts doubt on Barron. From what I've seen of Barron, I think that he'll be a monster player. I'd be a little surprised, but won't be too disappointed if he's our choice. I trust Nix.
  12. Agreed. But everytime they mention Reiff, they shift how they talk. Same thing Nix did at the luncheon. They talk about his school and how everyone is well coached, and he's just like all the others that came out of that program, etc. It seems to me that they don't think he'd be a good tackle (which is all we really care about at this time) and don't want to cast aspersions on him and push him down the draft board. It sure seems like they want someone else draft him.
  13. Some cool stuff. I think that they REALLY don't like Reiff. http://wgr550.com/pages/12022322.php?pid=234955
  14. He's got the opportunity to improve. Who knows if he can actually take a step forward. We've seen plenty of guys who have showed a little something, but have been unable to do more in subsequent years. See Ko "I'm worth Millions" Simpson. DBell was one who started out pretty rough but was able to consistently get better. He's the exception. I don't have a lot of faith in Hairston.
  15. I agree that picking people to fail isn't so big a stretch. However, These anonymous quotes are from people EMPLOYED by NFL teams. There is NO way that they're going to give out glowing review on lesser prospects that they feel they might get. It'd be stupid.
  16. Yeah... every draft is a 10. The goal is to make a dynasty or keep one.
  17. It baffles me. Just how stupid can you be? It's not like this is a surprise test. It's AT THE COMBINE. Everyone knows about it in advance!
  18. Nix said in the luncheon yesterday that there are fewer and fewer TE's being utilized by college teams these days. It's primarily spread offenses. He gives this as the reason there are few quality TEs in the draft.
  19. Tannehill. Just say no to overdrafted QBs.
  20. So from the winning superbowl team(very small sample) two 1st rounders and 6 second rounders. 8 out of 11 sure sounds like you need to invest a 1st or 2nd round pick in an LT. I'm not completely of that opinion, as I think Bell (7th round) was good enough, and I think that Peters (undrafted) was good enough. But your evidence does show that it's way more likely than not to have needed a 1st or 2nd rounder.
