Edwards, Dwan... should be cut?
Mark Long Beach replied to 95altima12's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Dwan is as good as gone. Andre Davis the same. Carrington wouldn't be a surprise. I think that Carrington could be a decent 3/4 DE, but he's just not a 4/3 one. If we get a couple of decent 43 DE prospects he's gone (and I expect to). Too bad, I liked the kid. -
At the right price, why not Gaither?
Mark Long Beach replied to simpleman's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No warning bells go off by the fact that the guy has been released by three teams since the Bills just HAD to trade a 3rd rounder for him?* (*so many posts long ago demanded this trade) He has NFL talent, but it comes with baggage. Not Haynesworth baggage, but baggage none-the-less. I think of him like Richie Icognito, capable of being a solid NFL player, but you have to be willing to live with the other distractions he brings... So far, teams have been moving on. I'd say he's arguably more talented than Bell, but just as injury prone, and with more locker-room issues. Is he really an improvement for our team? I don't think so. -
Blue pants arrive next season

Me too. Same reaction, a little confused, until all the green overwhelmed me in shame. Got me but good. -
Bills re-sign Rian Lindell
Mark Long Beach replied to FluffHead's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He's the biggest player evaluation mistake that I made. I wanted him gone after the first year he was with us. I thought he had no chance to be any good. Doh! Only our best kicker in franchise history. Glad that he's back. -
if an OT is the pick at 10...
Mark Long Beach replied to swnybillsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Nope. Since we're talking about a #10 draft pick it should only be used on a LT and I'm happy with 'serviceable' to 'good' for our left tackle. A healthy Bell fits that fine IMO. I do want a better backup for him. I think Hairston could be a very good RT, not convinced he could be a good enough LT, but we'll see. The offensive line and its performance is too much related on how ALL of the line works, on the offensive scheme used, on the QB, the RB (on their ability to run as well as block as well as be a dump-off receiver). We've seen time and again how a different QB behind the same line dramatically changes the number of sacks allowed. (such as flutie/RJ) We've got a decent line with a scheme and a QB that will get rid of the ball quickly. I don't want a possible modest upgrade on our OL with the #10 pick. I want a difference maker. Especially a passrush. It's far and away our biggest team weakness. ONE player like Mario Williams can make a monstrous difference in our pashrush and our defense as a whole. Give me a pashrusher. (Truthfully BPA at the spot) But since we're so lacking at that position, I'd be willing to reach, because the upgrade on the position would be so great over what we have. -
Everything FRED JACKSON

vwey nice! Thank you. -
I was and still am thrilled that we didn't get Shanahan. He's a fabulous coordinator who's also a good head coach but he's a terrible GM. He'll fit in great with Dannyboy in Washington as he also burns through players like mad.

Not all Eagles fans are whining

...well, now that you mention it. I think her lips _were_ moving. actually was pretty decent analysis. -
A Few Thoughts About The Game
Mark Long Beach replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah, I screamed at the TV when I saw spiller stop. It was pretty incoherent but "...NO, NO!" figured prominently. But then he managed to pick his way through the garbage and get the first down. It was a big one and I didn't think he'd make it. -
Game Preview and Hilarious Fitz Celebration
Mark Long Beach replied to Billsrhody's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Heh, yup. But I can't point any fingers since I'd probably sound like that too. -
Nice summary 26cb. The interview was over in a heartbeat. IMO Gailey did sound a touch worried about how his team would face something unknown (success). He was very solemn when stressing how the players need to not be distracted. In the preceeding minutes Cowherd mentioned that he wasn't buying into the Bills yet and that they were a very young team. Gailey actually seemed to reinforce that by how he stressed how the players would be dealing with a different kind of reaction/attention from fans and the media. He didn't say his team was young but he might as well have.

FANTASTIC quote from Kyle Williams
Mark Long Beach replied to Mike in Syracuse's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm guessing that quote is from during the game and is telling his teammates (paraphrasing) that Tom Brady is good but don't let it discourage you as we can still make plays also (and have proven it) so focus on the next play. -
Do the bills have the best O-line in the NFL?
Mark Long Beach replied to buffalover4life's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm still worried about the depth. We had one and only one guy who seemed like he'd be a good backup (Reinhard) and he's now in our starting lineup. I saw Hairston have one really nice looking preseason game, but I hesitate to call a 4th round rookie decent depth. He's much closer to a we keep our fingers crossed kind of guy. High upside, but just as low of a downside. Injuries could derail our OLine in a hurry. Even just one (more). -
Nailed it for me as well. It really startled me. Crap, I really am over the hill and on the way down. Yup, he sure did! Nice response!

delete the beginning of the link (duplicate http & stuff) and it works fine. Oh, and more intense video than I was expecting!

When did we really start getting better ??
Mark Long Beach replied to Scrappy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Wow, forgot about that. That's even more impressive. -
Well we also have the Wannstache this year. While at Miami (99-04) he had a winning record vs the Pats. 7 wins vs 5 losses. (this counts the full 4-12 disaster of his last season) Wanny does know BB and the Pats and has beaten them more than he's lost to them. Let's hope that trend continues with us!

Here's a funny response to Vince's comment. It made me laugh (it's good to laugh at the Pats*) and I thought I'd share. http://espn.go.com/espn/page2/story/_/id/6991668/indianapolis-colts-miami-dolphins-kansas-city-chiefs-seattle-seahawks-suck-luck-watch-list

Yup. Be there or not. Besides, this isn't a playoff game for us, just a good early test. It's not really fun to huddle around a crummy screen trying to watch the game with nobody else. DVR or NFL Game Rewind it and watch it on a better screen later.

First downs are REAL good.

Reggie Corner .............
Mark Long Beach replied to Jdragon2's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Pup is only for injuries prior to the preseason IIRC. Once they're part of training camp they can't be put on PUP and certainly not by the time the regular season starts. Once regular season starts the only options are cut, roster spot or IR. -
Fitzpatricks last 16 games
Mark Long Beach replied to Captain Hindsight's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm not saying Fitz is a candidate for sainthood, and he's shown he can be inconsistent. But he's also showing that his ceiling may be higher than a lot of people have given him credit for and he's getting numbers to back it up as well. Here's hoping the rock we're polishing turns out to be a diamond.
