Darius Slay claimed on waivers by Buffalo

I agree with you here. I just look at as a win either way. If he comes, he's better than Ingram. If he doesn't, we keep him from a soon to be opponent where he would definitely improve a weakness in Philly. -

Many QB's look like Stroud, and Herbert, but the team around them sucks. Both COULD be top tier QBs, but we don't know, because the team around them isn't good enough and that's the GM's fault. Look at Baker Mayfield and Sam Darnald. Both sucked when they were on poorly run teams with poor personnel, and both have now been good on well run teams. Both could have been much better for much longer if they had the support (and players) that Josh has had. -

Good lord. ...you say you lived through the drought? How, and I do mean how, can you compare the GM lunacy that we had from THAT period to Beane's tenure? The merry-go-round of inconsistency was crazy during that 17 years. We had individual players who were great, or very good. We even had some pretty good sides of the ball. But never for very long, and no consistency. We've had a long period of both with Beane. (And McD) We were the 2nd winningest team and I believe we will become the team with the most number of regular season wins by passing a struggling KC this year. You can say that Josh Allen is the reason, but there is a lot more to team building than that. Look at all the other "franchise" qbs and with the exception of KC, they all have terrible support from a teambuilding perspective. Joe Burrow, Stroud, Lamar Jackson, Justin Herbert. Those teams are sometimes very good, but often not. Beane's been better. Beane sure as H- doesn't walk on water. He's made and will continue to make mistakes. Especially on free agent contracts IMO. But to say Beane is comparable to the drought or not a good GM is just absolutely bonkers. -

I believe teams have a 24 hour period for a waiver claim. Plenty of time in the professional world of in-season NFL. The agent BETTER be responsive in 24 hour waiver claim period or you get a new agent. -

I normally agree, but we're about to play Philly, and Slay would absolutely make them better. They got a bad CB that Slay would upgrade. AND he's (probably) useful for us. Even if only an injury replacement. We got killed last year after losing Benford. Our depth is better this year, but still not great. -
Both teams keep investing more resources into WR (Chiefs) and DL (Bills) because BOTH positions are important and BOTH teams haven't successfully gotten the value they expected from their earlier picks at that position. Our DL draft picks have underwhelmed, so we had to continually invest in them to the point of literally spending our 2, 3 and 4th round picks this year to try and get quality young players at the position. If our DL was kicking buttox, we would not have used all those picks on DL. If KC's WR were also doing well, they would not keep drafting so many of them with high picks.

Eligible Receivers - 2pt Coleman Non-Catch
Mark Long Beach replied to saundena's topic in The Stadium Wall
DEFINITELY not an obvious challenge. I think it would have been a poor challenge, and thought so at the time. It's a judgement of the ref for when Allen starts to slide, not where he ends up. Even if they moved the ball forward, most likely we wouldn't have gained the full yardage needed for the first down. That would have been a disaster as we could have lost that timeout which would have lost us the game. -
Ditto x 5 I'm so glad that I can contribute!

Bills 5th Round Pick (#2) : Jackson Hawes - TE - Georgia Tech
Mark Long Beach replied to Simon's topic in The Stadium Wall
Fingers crossed that he can be a cheaper Knox replacement down the road. There's a chance he can prove to have decent enough hands to be a good enough outlet receiver. It's not like Knox lit it up in college and lately not much in Pros. IF he can provide good enough play he will replace Knox (next year or so) at a much cheaper rate with Kincaid still being the primary TE receiver. -
nice post. I forgot about a Punter. yep we'll get one of them too. While we have the best depth of OL that I can remember, BBB does like to draft late rounders and trade away a vet OL late in camp.
-
We're also shy a TE. We have only two currently signed. They still pick back up Quintin Morris or Davidson, but I'm not sure that they're better than TE3 material. I think WR, S, ST and 1T/LB/TE Which ever guy sticks out.

I only see the old trade up poll. Not a who-do-we-select poll. My goggles, I mean F5... it does nothing.

Rostered player with the most drought years

I have no Bills Jerseys, but I was seriously considering getting Moorman's. For a while he was our best player. -
Biggest need is the winds to stay slow. You can then get a fire under control. You just can't if the winds are high and it's as dry as it is. We normally get some rainfall in Oct/November/December which ends fire season, but none this (last) year. We'd normally have 3 inches by now, which is a lot in the desert and wets things down. Usually the biggest problem with the Santa Ana winds is the pollen which gets blown in from the desert and sets allergies ablaze. Not houses.

My cousin's house went up. Nothing left. She's just a couple blocks from Altadena and Lake. The Altadena UCC church my eldest was baptized in is gone. Same for St Elizabeth's (the Catholic church nearby) where we'd go for Christmas mass. My aunts house is a few short blocks away. So far, so good for this house, but there's a lot of burning still going on. These two houses were where we spent Thanksgiving and Christmas at. Still feels unreal.

Since I wanted us to low-key lose and deny the pats the #1 draft, it was a fun game to watch. Saw some backups play some decent football. Some good things on tape, some not so good stuff as well. VERY Vanilla. What really made the game for me was watching Milton. He was playing well and having fun. Has a little of Josh in him. I'd love to have him on our team.

It was definitely a position of need. Like Elam at DB, it means we overpay by a few rounds to get someone with a likely high floor, high ceiling to fill a need. Even if they don't pan out right away, like Bishop & Elam, you still have a good depth player. We also threw a lot of vet spaghetti at the wall to see if any stuck. (we did this with WR too) I think Elam can play well if we need him too. Bishop... probably too young this year for Superbowl aspirations. But like Rapp and Hamlin it can take a year or two in this system. I'm of the opinion that I don't mind having a handful of these stabs with overpaying. We need quality depth, we need solid starters, we need playmakers. We've gotten all of these. We're 10-2 and have a SOLID backup at every position except QB.

Needs to clear waivers first. -
Huh. Well I have my fathers bias of generally rooting for (the upstart) AFC teams over NFC teams. Although I did not get his incomprehensible support for the Oakland Raiders. Because I hate them. Al Davis was a loathsome creature that unfortunately stayed out from the rock he crawled out from. I also loathe Jerruh and his "America's team" the Cowboys. Weak-ass team with a pompous owner. Fortunately he and they have sucked since he fired Johnny (and the freebie year of Barry Switzer). While I hate the Philadelphia fans, I have no grudge towards the Eagles. Shrug, it's not their fault. I usually root for poor Cleveland, but I can't since the Watson signing debacle. Oh man, I almost forgot the Jets! It's a good thing their name has only 4 letters their fans couldn't spell anything longer.

Rd 4, Pick 128: RB Ray Davis, Kentucky
Mark Long Beach replied to section122's topic in The Stadium Wall
Nice post! This shows pretty clearly that they're not interested in running Cook into the ground, and that they're concerned about him making it to the post season. I'm a fan of this. We definitely needed another RB to carry some of that load and only Ty managed to do it productively to my eyes. An injury to Cook would be very bad, so we needed someone who has a chance to shoulder some real burden. I think this kid can do it! I'm excited to watch him this year. His tape looked sudden with nice moves in the open field. Fingers crossed -
Fact vs Fiction: "Keon Coleman is not a separator"
Mark Long Beach replied to ShakAttack's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yeah, that QB sprayed the ball all over the place. Really made me cringe. Maybe 1 or 2 in 10 was well placed, everything else Coleman had to adjust to, often majorly. Many times the adjustment was bringing him into the CB. I did see a number of blanket coverage, but I saw more NFL opens that the QB made not open. Honestly, I'm still nervous about the pick because separation is very important in NFL. I feel better after watching, but not convinced he can get open as much as I want vs NFL CBs. -
Rd 6, Pick 219: CB Daequan Hardy, Penn State

I think they met with him TOO Many times. Like 4. Made me think they kept needing a little more convincing, and didn't get it.
