  1. Super short interview. Can't get into too much depth in 11 total minutes. But it was implicitly discussed when they talk about coaching to the physical nature of each player. Don't coach them all the same, coach techniques to cater to the strengths (and weaknesses) of each individual. I also think that the philosophy being espoused is mostly for younger/not established players since as he says, you don't move a veteran around as much. "...don't ask a fast player to be slow and don't ask a slow player to be fast." I love it!
  2. Having been in the world of high-tech startup companies out here in CA for a long time... This guy sounds EXACTLY like an superbrain tech guy. Extremely knowledgeable about the technical aspects of what he does, but misses large chunks of what's going on around him people-wise. It really feels like he has been over-promoted to head coach. He may have the "big picture" view of running an offense, but he doesn't have the big picture view of running a team and being the face of the organization. As head coach, the job is so much more than X's and O's. I don't think he can pull it off like Belicheck because he just talks to damn much and will talk himself into trouble. Just watch his videos.
  3. Funny stuff from Gabe. Gabe (while smiling): "Dors[ey] has a huge personallity and gets fired up quick, so he's going to have to be in the box. We can't have him on the field. If he hears this he needs to know that he'll definitely be in the box all year. (inaudible question) [while laughing] ...No, no. We'll decide. We'll make sure he's up there for sure"
  4. It takes far more win than just a coach. The NY Knicks were and are a disaster of an organization with owner Dolan as head clown number 1. There's a long list of failures there, including some by Phil himself. But claiming the single most NBA championship winning individual (Including two as a NY Knick player!) is a fraud because he couldn't win with Nolan's Knicks is flat out bonkers.
  5. Nonsense. Talley's response should be "Well I know she's got good taste in men, she picked me."
  6. I also am in LA and I wanted NOTHING to do with Rosen. Well known bad attitude in all the wrong ways. Jeff George level of douche without the arm talent.
  7. I never felt much doubt that Bean would find a quality vet WR to come in on a cheap deal (such as what we got in Crowder). What WR doesn't want Josh Freaking Allen throwing to them? However, I am much more concerned about CB than I can remember. Levi was a fantastic floor for a CB and really a solid fallback starter. His lack of foot speed hurt him vs many WR, but his change of direction, anticipation and understanding of where he was supposed to be was very good. Dane is a better, more aggressive tackler, but gets lost and fooled way more often in coverage. I want him as my outside CB4, not 1 2 or 3. Tre is likely to be not ready for the start of season... With the high demand of CBs, any competent ones go for more money than we have. I don't like any of the vet CBs left and feel like we MUST take a CB in the first round to maximize the chances of a competent starter. I don't like this feeling.
  8. Thanks, Good link! Some nice runs in there. Like most running backs if there's a crease to get past the line of scrimmage he does very well. If the OL is stood up at the line of scrimmage he can't break through the DL. However he CAN and does get by Linebackers and DBs with stiff arms, jukes or just plain running them over. I think he's better than many there. Not a star, but definitely looks like a capable NFL player.
  9. Beas has definitely slowed down, so Crowder's an upgrade there. However Beas was tough as nails and played hurt. Crowder has had issues staying on the field.
  10. He sure looks like he gets "college" wide open. Runs fast vs pro speed. Looks like a really good signing!
  11. OL Greg Mancz on a 1 year deal.
  12. This past year with Harry and Star was still SO much better than 2020. That was a disaster in the middle and pretty weak on the outside. Even though we were top in Defensive statistics, to truly make our defense work we need strong front 4. A dominant front 4 can push our D to another level. Fingers crossed that we can get some good enough CBs. Any defense can fall apart if the CBs are crap. Even ours which is designed to cover for potentially weaker CBs
  13. Yes, it is a little higher, but to be fair, his previous contract for Tenn was 3 year $21m so it's only a single down contract year at Carolina. Of course, it's also always more expensive to sign the first days of free agency. I'm willing to pay for a higher likelihood of player quality. He can easily earn it though. He does look like the player type we need, *fingers crossed*.
  14. Eh. A non-story being made into one. Of course McD is the one to blame, it's his responsibility, and he's stated this is the case. As for "execution", Dunne is implying that he's blaming players rather than coaches or himself. I think McD is saying as a team (coaches included) we didn't finish the job. He's sheltering any coach or player under him from any individual blame and thus protecting them from being crucified by media and fans. Many players are forever demonized who have made mistakes in critical moments ("Buckner dropped the ball!") or even just not succeeded (Scott Norwood anyone?). I want a Superbowl, not someone to blame. We need these (mostly) same players and coaches to succeed next year. They didn't quite this year.
  15. Good God. How? ...They were both head coaches of Buffalo. Not much else in common!
  16. ...but if you trade for him, his salary comes with him. 4th round pick AND $7m That's a lot of resources.
  17. Strong blocking TEs ARE an extension of the OLine. Even better when they can catch as it holds DL/LB from freely charging the QB.
  18. He's a villain I've enjoyed rooting against over the years. Would I want him on my team? Hell yeah. He's still got stuff in the tank and he's good at ALL aspects of being a TE. Helps our running game and boost the passing as well. Besides, it gives us two legit options for TE in case of injury. Gives us a FANTASTIC 2 TE package with Diggs, Gabe, Gronk and Knox. Pound it or chuck it! He catches a TD in the Superbowl and he literally gets to be a hometown hero. what's not to like?
  19. Shawn Merriman would be a fantastic pickup. He really had skills beyond the doping and was going to push us over the top.
  20. I disagree. He can win. Win football games and don't play into the racial stir up. He doesn't make a big deal of it. Stand by that. Don't be wishy-washy.
  21. I'm willing to find out.
  22. I have no problem with keeping him if we can get him on a team friendly deal. No, he's not the difference maker that we hoped he'd be, but he's still the primary reason we can play a 4-2 defense. I think we need a real difference maker on the Dline. We're still too ineffective there. Would love a DT terror.
  23. I think McDermitt recognizes that his D needs a solid d line. His Biggest and first notable signing was a DT who could anchor the middle in Star L. Sadly Star has obviously underwhelmed. My choice for first rounder this year is a powerful DT.
  24. That's the problem with ALL offensive line though. A screwup is highly visible and often catastrophic for the play. Yes he got crushed, but to be fair, it was against the greatest defensive lineman if football. I think it's pretty clear that Spain was emotionally unstable enough to be counted on, so we moved on from him. I'm okay with that. He's an NFL caliber guard, maybe a little below average. But he's still better than Winters, Boettger or Ford.
