  1. Rex is calling the D, Thurman just holds the clipboard. There's probably not a DC in the league who does less paretically on game day than Thurman does.
  2. So using your logic, then any team that loses consistently like Buffalo, Oakland, Detroit, Tampa, etc. it's all the owners fault, so the owner needs to be fired. Brandon is basically the everyday voice of the owner, so in that position he's not going anywhere as effectively he is the owner from an every day operations public view.
  3. Unless you're ready to fire Ryan I think there's a good chance Whaley also comes back for the reasons you state. You don't want a new GM to have to keep Rex if he's not sold on him. Conversely you don't want ot bring in some GM who is a Rex guy then in two years fire Rex, but now have his hand picked GM still here. So the simple thing is give Whaley one more year, if 2016 is equally bad particularly no improvement defensively, then you're 2 years into Ryans five year deal and would be a little easier for TP to swallow the deal, say it was a mistake a fire them both, then bring in a new GM to also hire a coach of his choosing. IF and this is a big if IMO if the rumors of Whaley and Ryan not being on the same page on many of these deals is true, then the other thing I'd do this off-season if I'm TP is get the two of them together for some "bonding" to try and get them more on the same page. But also wonder how much truth there is to this vs. guys like Sulley and Gleason developing stories to fit their agenda. then you have national guys like Shector picking up the stories as he figures, the local guy must know what's going on.
  4. Who did you expect him to get? Somehow convince Green Bay to trade Arron Rodgers for EJ? OK he could have thrown in Kiko too. People keep slamming Whaley for not getting a better QB option make it sound like top level QB's are being cut all the time and he just ignored them all. There are 32 NFL teams and about a dozen top level QBs' There's another handful that have an up and coming year and give the team hope only to fall back the following year.
  5. And I won't knock him for dumping Freddy either as Fred would not have been a happy camper being inactive baring injuries. If anything Jackson should have thanked Whaley from sparing him the indignity of being inactive.
  6. I'd tend to agree with you on the quality, had a few freezes but overall not too bad. I'm out of the Western NY area, so wonder if less people pulling from the same "main fiber pipe" so maybe that explains why was pretty decent for me?? But people in western NY had poor performance.
  7. Really, I'm not at all defending EJ, while I agree not likely he gives up two touchdowns, also doubt Cassel makes the TD passes either.
  8. Unless the rest of the Bills roster plays for the Cowboys, it means nothing how Cassel plays. From everything seen of Cassel he's didn't look any better than EJ. Granted it was pre-season but there was nothing special of his play.
  9. So am I, Bortles and Robinson, plus have Clay for Buffalo
  10. The video quality almost looks like I'm watching Madden. It looks like it's a video game
  11. Rex is the DC, Thurman just holds Rex's clipboard. While I don't disagree with anything you say, you're really talking about Rex here, not Thurman.
  12. I know that always did piss me off too, we're in the area to be blacked out, but for other reasons, don't qualify. It used to make me made in the early 90's once the Billd would make the conference championship game, no Van Miller on radio in Rochester. Instead would get NFL broadcast. In general, I never really had a problem with blackout rules, but the special rules for primary markets always seemed unfair. On another somewhat related question, will there be any way to stream it to a Roku? Would save me the trouble of plugging my laptop into big TV
  13. No you are not wrong!! Still true through!!
  14. I think they are struggling due to losing most of their big playmakers. No Sammy and Shady makes the rest of the receivers and RB look very average at best. Makes the line look worst as less need for double teaming so more defenders can rush, and poor RB makes it easy to stop the run, so nothing left by TT to beat you based on his skills. Admittedly, not sure he's good enough to do that, at least not yet.
  15. Yes and ref doesn't have the ability to freeze frame the play. So if it's that close can't in any way fault the ref. He's thrown the flag way before the Titan player ever even touched the ball. I think it happens much more than you imagine. How often is the TV camera even showing all 11 players at the line at the kickoff, and who watching on TV pays any attention to it. So the only time it gets attention is when the penalty is called. My opinion it's called at least 4 to 5 times per season, and would not at all be surprised if it's even more Because basically that's the side judges only job, to watch for off sides. It's probably one of the easiest calls for him to make as very easy to see. And do agree with you that little if any advantage is gained, so the bigger question in my mind is why would a player put himself anywhere close to be called for offsides? As was pointed out, it could be due to the new kicker, but even so why put yourself in that close of a position to have the call made. Instead of blasting the officials, maybe you should be venting your energy at Easley for being stupid!
  16. He was on my fantasy team too.
  17. Yeah then he'd show up on the Bills injury report instead of Seattle. Or he may have got hurt the first couple weeks playing the RB position on the scout team as that's typically what the inactives do. I'm sure Fred would have welcomed that.
  18. More than likely the flag was thrown right at the beginning of the play, at that point, the official has no idea how the play will play out.
  19. I think if Cinny wins this week, the odds of us winning the following week increase as they will then tend to be more over-confident, plus deep down they would know a loss wouldn't hurt then as much if they are already 5-0
  20. What he says publicly vrs behind closed doors very likely are two different things. One of the things that has been stated many times is that Rex always has the players backs. This is one of them, he's going to try and deflect the blame from them and claim they did nothing wrong.
  21. Maybe Glenn would be OK at RT, but likely some team will pay him LT money so likely he'll be gone. I'd try and sign a FA LT then draft another, then maybe a center in the 3rd round.
  22. Yeah and look what happened, Singletary did just good enough to keep him for three more years of progressively getting worse. You really limit yourself with mid-season hires, that was why I didn't think it would actually happen.
  23. I think it's time for full time officials. The NFL keeps arguing they want these bank presidents and such as officials as they make a large enough salary not to take bribes, but in todays world they can just as easily be bought. On top of that anyone making a six figure salary today isn't working a 9 to 5 job, so do these guys really have enough time to study the game as much as they should. Just as we often say about coaches in the case of the refs, I think the game is passing many of these guys by too. I wouldn't dump them all immediately, but I'd phase in a full time officials program.
  24. And you know what he could see?? Wow, you must be talented!! Yes your premise is correct, don't call what you can't see, but to state what he can and can't see is laughable. Just because when you watch the replay you see a guy possible in the line of sight, doesn't mean he was truly in the line of sight. Was it marginal, sure, but stop blaming the refs for the Bills making it easy by making either flat out dumb plays or doing borderline things.
  25. Yeah and then all of a sudden you can win some games with an interim coach, think he's the answer and next year be in the same position. You're just to limited in selection with mid season hires, as you said it's just a statement, but doesn't help the team, could even hurt your position in the draft if the new guy wins a couple or so.
