NFL Maps: 2016 Week 6
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Glad I don't live in an actual NFL city as you end up with less games on TV as they always black out opposite the local game. -
Where is FireRex and his constituents??
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to ChanOverChin's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The other funny thing is the Ravan's fired Tressman after starting out 3-0, then losing two games, and no national attention like the Bills got for doing the same. -
Should Miami try to get Romo?
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to boyst's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Can't see anyone trading for Tannehil with the contract he just signed. -
Let's talk about...John Miller
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Rubes's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes but Whaley has failed at finding a franchise QB. That is the easiest position around to find and draft. Don't understand it, every other team in the league has one, some even 2 or 3. But Whaley has failed there and can't even find one. He needs to be fired! -
Time management, end of 2Q yesterday...discuss...
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to eball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
True, but do you believe that TT deliberately didn't think to lead him or was it just another one of his somewhat off target passes. Considering how many others there were like that where the WR had to jump, stop, come back etc, I can't blame the play concept unless that was the plan -

Well it more shows how little most who post here really know. Practically everyone here wants pro bowl level play out of rookies and when it doesn't happen, then that player needs to be replaced and Whaley is an idiot for not doing that. O-line is probably one of the toughest spots for rookies to com in due to the fact the O lineman typically play all game, they don't sub out unless they get hurt or nicked up. So the "rookie wall" likely hits them much harder than other positions. But armchair GM's won't accept that. Completely 100% untrue!!, the team let a rookie get a year older. They get that! -

I heard Gannon ripping them, but if they called the TO when he thought they should have, there would have been one less available at the end. Often you'll see the Bills (and others) end the half with still having a TO left, if that had happened here it would be a legit point, but since that didn't happen really don't see much of a difference as to when you call it. You can make the argument better to call them later is better when you know calling them isn't going to result in giving the ball back to the other team with more time for them to work with. I think in general there's no urgency by any teams anymore in the two minute drills. I've been watching football since the mid 60's and seems to me all this "Omaha", "53's the Mike" does nothing but slow down the play calling. And it seems with todays play calling teams and QB's can' seem to function without that stuff, they can't just say well it's under 2 minutes I'll skip all that stuff to speed up the play calls. It's the same speed regardless of clock time left. That's not clock management issues, that's just a bad pass. -
Do agree that we have one of the weakest WR group out there. Even with Watkins still need to improve would hope our #1 pick next season is a WR. Having said that I'd go for a 2nd but not so sure the Bears would.

Dennis Thurman play calling
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to santoro770's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah to me Thurman is just a figurehead DC. I give alot credit of the improved play to Rob, think he has everyone understanding where they need to be and what to do. -
Rams Second Half Game Thread
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to TakeYouToTasker's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No, but what possible evidence do you have to make you or anyone think you the Bills could have a better QB say within the next two years? If it takes much longer than that too much other change occurs on the roster to do any good. There are many more teams with worse QB's than Buffalo has. If it was so easy to say they need to get a better QB, every team in the league would be doing that. If the Bills were to lose out, history says it's unlikely they get the #1 or #2 overall pick, likely with say a .500 record would again get them around pick #15 to 20. Not likely from there to trade up to #1 or you'd give up so much the team would be weak everywhere else. Maybe you could trade for Tony Romo or Jay Cutler if you want. Case Keenan may be available, Fitz, Jonny Football. The only one of them I'd agree is a step up from TT is Romo, IF he stays healthy. the rest are a crapshoot. I do think the Bills may have the worst group of WR oin the league right now and even if Sammy comes back and plays next season completely healthy, they still are weak overall. -
Bill Polian....Genius or Lucky?
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Mike in Horseheads's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He was pretty good to extremely good at finding talent, though in the last few years, he seemed to have lost it a bit. His downfall was more personality wise, he was known to be a tyrant and had issues with working with others which is part of being the GM. Seemed he did a good job of training others to act likewise like AJ Smith and little sonny boy Chris I believe is his name. Everything I've read about him is he's a total disaster and seems like it's hard to hire Bill without getting AJ and Chris as a package deal. For that reason alone I'd say stay away. So was he a genius for doing it in three cities or was that a result of his quirks that never allowed him to stay anyplace very long. He was good at what he did, but to many issues to call hi ma genius and think the game has passed him by. -
Would just like to point out...
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to metzelaars_lives's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If I remember correctly, he was rookie of the month in Sept 2014 season and everyone was raving about him. You're correct he was brutal last year, can't understand why he couldn't play better while battling Crones Disease. -

And yet in the offseason everyone was ripping Whaley for not upgrading the right side, and how bad Miller is. He was a rookie last year, I believe more than any position offensive line is where the rookie wall hits the worst as typically lineman play all game as long as they are healthy, there's little rotation, so likely by November or so he was gassed. Just as two seasons back Henderson started out as rookie of the month in Sept, as the season went on, he tired out, then last season was a complete write off as he was in pain already back in August it sounded like. But here no one has patience and expects instant pro-bowl level. If not replace him. Well he certainly won't be alone in that regards, half the teams in the league are seeking an answer, and many of the other, NE included got more lucky than anything. Picki ng Brady I nthe 6th round wasn't the result of a smart front office, more just dumb luck that he was still available, and he became what he is. -

So what's the connection with Nebraska and Kansas getting the SD/Oakland game? Who am I missing that went to school there that's star player? Those states are close to Dallas, to not get that game is strange unless there is someone I'm missing?? -
thought it used to be December, now they start earlier??

Is Marcel back this week for sure?

So are drug suspensions different than Brady's suspension as he wasn't allowed even near the building? -
Now is the BIG test for the Bills
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to PatsFanNH's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
LA is 3-1, game is in LA, so wouldn't call it an upset if the Bills were to lose this game. Winnable yes, but just as easily losable too. -
Injuries/Suspensions Blessings in disguise?
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Was surprised not to see even one word in this thread about Henderson. I also think the 4 weeks may have helped him get his strength back. But again Mill's has filled in very well, so will be interesting to see when/if Henderson plays. -
How About Some Love for Rex?
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Chilly's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Regardless of what he publicly starts about Thurman running the defense, I don't buy that much at all. I think the difference is, love him or hate him and most people hate, he brought Rob in who is the only other person who truly is on the same page completely as Rex. Rob has the players in the correct positions particularly the play of the LB's. He's probably doing much more than I'd give him credit for, but to me Thurman is a figurehead. -
Whaley has been a complete failure as a GM
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Yeezus's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is what makes me think it was more a Buddy Nix thing as back then, believe it was after the prior season ended or so when Nix stated that the Bills were going to draft a QB. My take is he pushed hard that the Bills needed to draft a QB in the first round and likely felt the best guy available was EJ. I think it's very possible that Whaley was even the one who scouted EJ and proclaimed him to be the best prospect. While Whaley may have thought he was the best out there, did he really want him drafted in the 1st round, I think that was more a push by Nix to make it happen. Don't think DW was completely against it, but don't think it was completely his move either. -
So you're automatically assuming there is no possibility the the Bills recommended surgery back in January or a different surgical option than Watkins went with, and it's completly sim-diagnosed by Buffalo. Teams can highly recommend following a certain path, but ultimately it's up to the player to decide what he chooses to do and often the player chooses the path of least surgery. The one thing for certain is neither you nor I have any idea which really happened or something in between.

Any word on Kolby Listenbee.
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch replied to Protocal69's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I believe you can bring Shaq back from PUP AND one player off IR. However, my guess is they aren't ready to use that IR move on him, as they'd rather wait out Watkins. I'd even think IF they do use the move on Listenbee, that likely means they don't think Sammy will be back at all this season. -

Yeah but if you don't get a completion, instead of a 34 yard FG, it's now a 49 yard kick
