  1. Maybe - but it extends beyond traditional GM duties. They need to re-brand this puppy top-down.
  2. You can't blame Russ Brandon for the team's lack of success on the field. They have to find a competent GM who can instill a winning strategic plan, which includes finding a QB, and efficiently allocating the team's resources ($$ and draft picks) towards a winning program. To my mind, Doug Whaley has failed at this - he is a good enough scout, but he doesn't know how to build a team, has failed at it in multiple attempts, and needs to be fired. You can blame Russ Brandon for the mysterious and, some would say, misleading way that the team operates. The constant stream of misinformation concerning the status of players and injuries is an insult to the fans and is borderline fraudulent. And the atmosphere within OBD remains toxic, as it was during the Marrone years, with a penchant for odd, destructive "leaks" that seem to undermine players and coaches alike. As head of operations (effectively), Brandon is to blame for this and if I owned the team, I'd fire him for it. I'd add to that list the complete incompetence of the team's PR and medical staffs (the latter perhaps is not under Brandon, but arguably he has some say in it). If I were the Pegulas watching this clown show, I'd fire Whaley and Brandon (and Rex), for different reasons, at the end of this season. I expect some version of a housecleaning will happen, although as Bandit said above it will start with the hiring of a Head of Football Ops (a "Czar"), who will insulate the Pegulas from some of the dirty work that is required. You need someone who can create and implement a strategic plan. It's not a myth.
  3. "There were two timeouts wasted earlier in the half with the Bills not getting to the line quickly enough to run a play. This was a problem offensive coordinator Greg Roman had in San Francisco, when the 49ers led or tied for the league in delay of game penalties each year from 2011 to 2014."
  4. And if they hit those throws early on, the pressure backs off and it's a whole different game. I'm very, very concerned about this QB.
  5. I think Shady is trying to save his body this season.
  6. I'm guessing he bailed to the right because he had 3 WRs on that side and only one on the left side. When you're used to only reading one half of the field, that's what happens...
  7. Karlos was good in pass protection last year. Still bummed about that one.
  8. Cyrus is going to get massively exposed on Thursday night. Hope I'm wrong, but he's in serious trouble. The Jets will make him think on the fly and move sideways, two things he doesn't seem to do very well...
  9. In today's NFL, if your QB isn't able to survey the defense pre-snap and adjust the play as needed, you really don't stand much of a chance. This is not the fricken Big 10.
  10. Kid has the body of a swimmer. He's not built for the NFL. That said, I still think he'll be a good QB if he can stay healthy.
  11. Just wait until they make Cyrus move laterally. He'll double over like a hinge.
  12. That's fine - Tyrod's extension is a year to year prove it. Bring in the next guy - I'm sick of this sh-
  13. I mean, Gronk only got what, 8 snaps? That doesn't seem to be enough to scrap the entire gameplan but what do I know.
  14. Woods has TERRIBLE feet. He has been sliding around on them and tripping over them for his entire career. I've never seen anything quite like it.
  15. An athletic TE is a cover-2 beater. Anyone who plays Madden knows this. And I don't think the Ravens were in cover-2 just to "make Tyrod be a QB" - they were also protecting their crummy and injured cornerbacks. We never attacked that weakness. What drove me mad during the Marrone years was his stubbornness even when it was obvious that what he was doing wasn't working. It drove me to hate his guts. Roman is heading to the same place in my mind...
  16. So does this mean that the rest of us are allowed to be realistic ("negative") now?
  17. Sounds like the high vet minimum is the issue...
  18. They should've drafted Treadwell. But we had to have the injured Clemson guy...
  19. The Browns are worse - but they have a better coaching staff, a better front office, and a very compelling strategic plan. In three years, the Browns will have left us in the dust, just like the Raiders, Texans and Jags have.
