  1. Big Cat always sides with the coach. He's a management-over-labor guy.
  2. I don't know man - I'm not paid to run a defense and I'm no expert on how to do it. One approach is to use the a-gaps to create chaos right in front of the QB's face - let him have to move left or right and re-set before throwing. You can leave your corners off a bit and get the safeties out of the box. You might give up the easy 6-8 yard throw but then you rely on your backend defenders to make the tackle short of the sticks. It certainly wasn't working to leave the corners in straight man and to give Fitz time to survey and throw downfield. Rex has never had a problem manufacturing pressure against a passing game looking for shots downfield, as opposed to the Patriots' 2.5-seconds-or-less release.
  3. That's what I saw as well. Fitz played out of his mind and he's willing to throw it up and let his receivers make plays. That said, to my mind the issue was the passrush - I don't care about sacks, but Fitz wasn't forced to move and reset as much as he should've been given his deficiencies when he has to do that kind of thing. That's where the adjustments were needed.
  4. Yes I think Roman directed it and yes it is because of Taylor's deficiencies.
  5. I'm sure that's the Pegula's plan and preference. But if and when Rex's handpicked new OC flops, and his brother flops, and they win less than 5 games, they won't have a choice.
  6. Was Roman's offense complex? It looked like a college offense to me. Half-field progression reads, and all of the WRs were running streaks or curls.
  7. Agreed but it won't matter in a few weeks. Wait until Lynn's offense faceplants - which I suspect it will. You think it's ugly around OBD now, it's going to get much, much worse when everyone realizes (because it becomes obvious) that the problem was not Greg Roman. The product in the field will soon reveal all. Rex went "all in" with his guy, again, and his owners gave him the support and rope to do it. That's why Rex will be on the Fox Pregame Show in 2017, which I've been saying for awhile now.
  8. Maybe they can bring in a QB that can actually read a defense quickly. I think we need one of those. Just an idea.
  9. I'll say it again: complex systems don't work under the new CBA, unless you have a roster full of veterans who know the systems already. Rex is a dinosaur.
  10. No, it isn't, but I suspect the Cowboys have no problem attracting good coaches.
  11. Come on man. He's talking today about internal CYA politics. The quote you just referenced was about public political issues. Are you being purposely obtuse with this stuff?
  12. Because they have to give their HC the support and opportunity to do things his way. If he fails, he'll have no more excuses and he'll be gone.
  13. Because based on my own experience in an organization, it makes more sense...
  14. Because it's exactly what I said - this was Rex's decision. Rex doesn't want the DC to be fired.
  15. I just don't think that's how it happened. Again, based on my own experiences with these things, it's far more likely that Rex hated Roman and has wanted him gone for ages. The owners did their due diligence and then let the firing occur.
  16. That's my read as well. Rex wanted Roman out. Owners did their own homework to confirm what the coach was telling them and then threw their support behind him.
  17. Agreed and it's probably more complicated than that. Sometimes executives are afraid to suggest to their owners that they fire someone and eat their contract. So the owners sense this and get involved directly. When that happens they're doing their executive a favor. I've been involved in that sort of situation. It's quite possible Rex wanted Roman gone but was more comfortable with the Pegulas coming to that conclusion themselves, as well. I have a hard time believing that if Rex wanted Roman to stay, the Pegulas would've forced the move anyhow. I respectfully disagree. They may have been doing Rex a favor.
