Say more - seems like a lateral move but am I right that he is rounding out his resume?

For a guy to take a weird lateral move like this, it tells me he was either about to be fired (unlikely) or, more likely, has been identified as a rising star as an OC/HC and wants to round out his resume by proving that he can coach up the most important position on offense. If so I'm intrigued.

I wonder if those of you advocating for Glennon and Foles have ever watched them play. It's not a pretty sight.

Foles is a terrible QB. He was only briefly successful in a very specific system that was designed to clearly define his reads and minimize his mistakes, and he ultimately flamed out of that system in any event. He has been given up on by multiple OCs. As a pure mechanical thrower he might - might - have an edge on Tyrod, but Ty's ability to gain first downs and score points with his legs more than makes up for that differential. Foles is a bottom-fourth QB and I think you'd find that his value around the league is much, much lower than Tyrod's.

Branch is actually a very smart dude. He made his own bed in Buffalo by getting pulled over by the cops at 2 am the night before a game - that was outrageous.

Looked to me like he had no idea how to run in the snow. I'm serious.

To amplify what JohnC said - The Bills have a roster full of Michael Floyds - talented idiots. The Patriots benched Floyd yesterday in favor of their Chris Hogans - intelligent, high-effort players. The results are obvious. Incidentally, another former Bill, Alan Branch, was phenomenal as a run-stuffer this year.

This is correct and it's really all there is to discuss about it. Whaley slapped the wrong tender on him. Whaley tried to stash Cockrell on the PS and lost a quality starting corner. Whaley gets credit for shrewd trades and FA finds but he has made some really bad mistakes as well.

Those are part of it - but mostly it's because lawyers and engineers are intelligent problem solvers who try to answer the questions they think are being asked, or should be asked, rather than the questions that actually were asked...

MVP is a real stretch. He did nothing to take over games and in fact, he was replaced by Lawson and others as it wore on.

The engineering point is awesome - thanks for pointing that out. Although, as a lawyer who has had to manage engineers as witnesses - they are the absolute worst (second worst actually - lawyers themselves are the worst witnesses).

The other thing about Brees was that he was running a pass-heavy offense at Purdue. I watched him a lot in college (these threads remind me how old I am) and he was making lots of NFL throws and reads. Orton replaced him and did much of the same.

His safeties were a problem both years. And they kept drafting and signing guys who flopped at that spot.

He did not trust his backfield.

I am pleased that this first time HC has two experienced coordinators. That's not always the case - often first time HCs promote position coaches to coordinate for them, meaning everyone on staff is doing something new.

Doing it right requires perfect technique - you have to have your drop and footwork down so well that it looks identical whether it's a pass or run. Tyrod doesn't have those chops yet. Plus it works best where you have a drop back passer - Tyrod prefers shotgun and they did a lot of handoffs from shotgun. That said I wonder if Dennison can adapt to some of the read option stuff that Tyrod prefers.

Not really true. Fitz's issue is not his body, it's his brain. He makes a staggering amount of bad decisions for any QB, let alone one with his educational pedigree. He's the same as Cutler, with less arm and more leadership ability. Both of them are highly undisciplined and stupid when it comes to passing footballs.
