  1. Check out this blurb from NFL Analyst Greg Cosell, guest-writing for Peter King in today’s FMIA: “4. I think, speaking of Josh Allen, he is the most physically gifted quarterback in the NFL. That is not a bold, controversial take. It is just a statement of fact. Whether he develops into the best quarterback in the NFL is a different question, one that remains to be answered. Remember, Allen is 6-foot-5 and 240 pounds. Think about that for a moment. I have stood right next to him, and he is a big man. I stood a few feet away watching him throw, and I have never seen a ball come out of the hand of a passer like it does with Allen. It was otherworldly. The name that often comes up, and rightly so, when the talk is of the most physically talented quarterbacks of all time is John Elway. Allen is a much bigger man than Elway. Allen is the most intriguing quarterback I have watched and evaluated in all my years at NFL Films. It would not surprise me at all if we soon call Allen the most physically gifted quarterback the league has ever seen. Stay tuned.” 😲
  2. Yup, the Stillers were backed up on the goal line and Dareus, also a rookie from that class, caught DeCastro off balance and literally screwed DeCastro into the turf and just destroyed his knee. It was brutal.
  3. Very meta - a thread discussing the lack of a thread…
  4. I thought it was the Jackie Robinson of comments.
  5. It looks like a giant Bass Pro shop actually. Like the one connected (now gone?) to the Galleria Mall. Does seem like the look that artist is going for, whatever that is.
  6. Mark Davis’s statement about it was classy - I don’t know how to embed a Tweet or I’d post it.
  7. Except his screen name, which somehow is straight out of central casting…
  8. At least one of their d-linemen and one of their WRs will probably be playing meaningful snaps in 2021 for another team. They’ve got some really tough decisions ahead.
  9. I promise this really is my last post in this thread - but I just got a list of the vaccinations my kid has to have or he won’t be allowed in the public middle school in our district. That may not be the case everywhere but it is in the Northeast for sure and has been for decades.
  10. It jumped the shark when Beas tweeted, basically, that someone should autopsy the 600,000 dead because - did they really die of COVID? There is a way to make a personal choice with discretion and class, within the confines of his teammates’ decision about how to deal with the issue publicly, and mindful of his status as an athlete whom kids look up and listen to. “Recount the bodies” is the opposite of all of that. I’m sorry, it just is. I’ll stop posting about it though.
  11. Can you imagine if COVID caused a high mortality rate in children, and the vaccine (as this one is) wasn’t yet approved for kids, and there were uninformed jerk “role models” like Beasley spouting off about “it’s my life and my body”? This debate would get really ugly then. As a parent, you’re damn right I’d be ready to have the government jab a needle in his meathead arm. SMH… If this were polio, the “freedom” crowd would be an existential threat to society.
  12. There it is. All of the misinformation and wrong-headedness condensed into a single post. Pretty impressive honestly.
  13. @Hapless Bills Fan I’ve got a book recommendation for you: “Bad Science: Quacks, Hacks, and Big Pharma Flacks” by Ben Goldacre.
  14. Yup. And if there were a way to ensure that the hospitalization costs of folks who choose not to get vaccinated would be borne solely by them - instead of insurers or hospitals - many anti-vaxxers would get the shot. And by the way, the vast majority of COVID hospitalizations right now are unvaccinated people… 🤔
  15. I’m right there with you. I’ve known several healthy people who died from COVID. Devastating. I know a few young, completely healthy people who got it and survived but still have terrible after-effects involving their immune and nervous systems (one of them now has some kind of rare kidney ailment resulting from it). This is real, it happened, I’ve actually SEEN it. It’s not some crap on Twitter. And yet here we are, we’ve got folks who think it’s a made up conspiracy designed to control their bodies - never mind that Warp Speed was launched under their likely preferred candidate and, had he won, their views of a life-saving vaccine would likely be different. Imagine that? And never mind that many of the same folks in society and on this very board spouting the “everyone has a right to their opinion” and “you don’t control what I do with my body” mantras have an issue with other people refusing to stand while a certain song is played - THE VERY SAME PEOPLE! Saw my dentist yesterday for the first time since lockdown. He got COVID, no issues. His wife got it and almost died after 17 days in the hospital. Likely got it from patients. He told me a story of one patient who said that he wasn’t going to get the vaccine because “it’s a conspiracy - Dr. Faucci owns the company!” My dentist asked this patient whether it would bother him if he (my dentist) had not gotten vaccinated and the patient said, “oh yes, absolutely, I wouldn’t have come here, too risky.” That’s about where we are as a society right now. As contagious as COVID is, idiocy seems to be spreading even more quickly.
