It’s weird then that the Bills’ coaches have been saying the same things - that Edmunds needs to start making more big plays. They must not understand their own defense. 🧐

What I took from this? Darryl Williams had one of the worst games I’ve ever seen by an offensive lineman - just an absolute disgrace of a performance and he deserves to be benched if he does that again. Josh is better at handling pressure from his left than his right, it seems, and Williams was so bad - atrociously bad - Allen never got comfortable enough to set his feet in the pocket. Again: Darryl Williams has been a disgrace this season and I suspect they’re already regretting that signing. I’m furious after watching those replays.

We have a linebacker who regularly makes “splash plays” and it’s not #49.

But the situation you cited - where a defense has to defend a short field - should be captured in their measurements. I guess I’m not sure what you think their analytics doesn’t cover but should.

Eagles have to put him on the active roster so perhaps he'll get snaps this season.

There’s definitely something to that. Allen has played poorly but the receivers aren’t getting much separation to my untrained eye.

This is a bizarre thread. Is anyone actually arguing that Allen is playing well? If so I must've missed it. It seems like everyone agrees that he's off - but there are folks who would like to start panicking now, and then the rest of us.

He also brought in a bunch of vets and gave them leadership/captaincy roles to help instill his "culture" and then cut a bunch of them this offseason. Van Noy went off about it in August, he's not a fan...

He can’t - that’s a textbook example of a play where his height works against him. It’s too easy for a short ball carrier to stick his foot in the ground and use his leverage against Edmunds’ height. Big reason you don’t see many 6’5” MLBs.

That said - for the Dolphins, getting demolished by a division rival in their home opener like that is potentially a huge turning point/setback for the organization. Not sure where they go from here. Think about this: they spent all offseason working on their defense solving Josh Allen and then lost 35-0 without Allen doing too much. Now they have to fix their entire offense, too. They're pretty screwed and it's a huge bonus for the Bills.

Watch the throws again. Most of the time he’s fading away from “pressure” (real or imagined) and throwing off his back foot, sometimes lofting/feathering the ball to account for the earlier release. He doesn’t trust his protection.

He just needs to play better.
