For all the hating on Daboll (which I’m good with), the ST coach gave away the fake punt by putting Breida back there for the very first time. An obvious tell that was promptly blown up. Just total idiocy.

Breakdown of Leonard Fournette 47 yard touchdown
Coach Tuesday replied to HoofHearted's topic in The Stadium Wall
Taron Johnson got a nice pay raise for being an undersized slot corner and has responded by missing tackles at an alarmingly high clip. Has been an issue all year. By contrast there were street FAs in the Bucs secondary yesterday making form tackles all over the field. -
If the Bills re-sign Edmunds, they're stupid.

I’m still torn. He’s been way better this year. More instinctive and more physical. He lacks the lower-body leverage and strength you want from a run-stuffer but that’s partially because of his long frame. As a result he rarely drives his tackle backwards. He is not a great tackler, just an ok one - there were replacement-level DBs on the Bucs yesterday who tackled better than Edmunds does (and better than Taron or Levi or Addison for that matter). In fact yesterday got me thinking that good tackling is probably a market inefficiency - the Bills would do well to find good tacklers who may not be the biggest or fastest and pay them in free agency, I bet they’ll be cheaper and the defense will perform better. But I digress. The issue with Edmunds is that he’s a lot like his brother in Pittsburgh - great athletes, hard-working dudes who had solid upbringings and do everything right except they just lack instincts and as a result they almost never make game-changing plays. Some athletes just don’t read the action quickly enough for whatever reason. Folks’ brains are wired in different ways and the Edmunds Brothers may just lack the instincts and processing speeds to ever reach their full athletic potential. -

Not understanding why their go-to play seems to be a fade to short receivers. We’ve seen a lot of it and it almost never works. -

Edmunds could’ve made that stop on Fournette. -

The most terrifying part of this so far is that Sean seems to have taken a more active role in the coaching on both sides of the ball in this game. -

I’m sure a few more one yard runs by Motor would change the dynamic of this game completely… -

Borderline criminal negligence. Not that the Pegulas are bright, but if the lightbulb was on they’d be furious about Beane’s failure to protect their quarter-billion investment. -

So in general I completely agree with the premise here. When you look at W/L record the Bills are in a good spot over the past few years relative to the rest of the league regardless of this season's outcome. Fans' frustration this year is reasonable - they had a plum schedule with relatively good injury luck and they coached their way to a mediocre season (so far) - the talent level on this team is higher than the performance level, penalties are assessed at an alarming rate, and the weekly gameplans have been garbage many weeks. Stepping back you worry about trends - you don't want to end up anywhere on the NFC North Suck Index: Lions: Perennially horrible franchise with zero hope for ever turning things around (we're no longer in that bucket thanks to the Pegulas & McBeane, thank God). Bears: Poor coaching and roster decisions and uncertainty at QB (we're no longer in that bucket, though we were more recently). Vikings: Constantly treading water - seem to have an organizational goal of spending just enough to remain competitive and stumble into early-round playoff exit (we were very recently here). Packers: Top-five QB but a cautious approach to team-building and tendency to "run it back" have alienated their admittedly mercurial douchebag of a QB and have squandered his prime years where they should've been stacking rings (we may be here: this offseason will help inform whether Beane has the will and the ambition to add roster pieces).
