  1. Looking at the roster, it would be an OL, DE, or CB. Most likely either Germain Ifedi, Alec Anderson, Kingsley Jonathan, or Cam Lewis. But it's hard to see a number of those players being released. Ifedi maybe?
  2. It's obvious that you would do that. But there's no chance McDermott does. He's not going to bench a guy he's been using extensively and distribute his reps across the board elsewhere for a guy that he only activated because another player was injured. Fournette got a total of 10 snaps and touched the ball only 5 times for 20 yards total. With Johnson back in the lineup, he'd get even less reps as the 4th RB - if they were to do that. His performance on Sunday didn't force anyone's hand. And a 4th RB would get so little usage, it's not worth it. You may feel he's worthy of changing around the offensive personnel and leaving us with 4 total WR's. But I reiterate, there's practically a zero chance McDermott would do what you would here. There's a MUCH better chance he'd sit Johnson or Murray for Fournette. But I don't think that's very likely either. If you're a Fournette fan, you have to hope Johnson's shoulder sidelines him another week. Otherwise, he's not getting activated this week.
  3. As it stands, the 3rd most used RB on a given week is given extremely low snap counts. vs. The Chargers - James Cook had 41 snaps, Leonard Fournette had 10 snaps, and Latavius Murray had 7 snaps. A 4th RB? Maybe a couple snaps? Meanwhile, Trent Sherfield was used (albeit primarily as a blocker) in formations at WR in 33 snaps. Double the amount of snaps RB's 2 and 3 combined got. There is ZERO chance they'd utilize a 4th RB and short themselves to 4 WR's.
  4. I have no doubt Beane will get us under the cap fairly quickly. He goes over to the amount that he has plans in place for clearing when the time comes. We may be 42.75 over on the books officially right now. But I'm sure Beane's book has us under.
  5. History. 7 years of personnel lineups; a leopard doesn't change it's spots. Under McDermott, we've never had 4 RB's active at one time. We've never carried less than 5 WR's active at one time. And when running 4 WR sets, there would be no one getting a break and no one coming off the bench in case of injury. One WR goes down on the Outside and we'd have to run a slot WR on the Outside. It's common sense. The 3rd RB barely gets any carries as is. So why would we put ourselves in an untenable situation in the event of an injury at WR for a 4th?
  6. If the price tag is similar or less for Floyd, which I expect it to be, there's ZERO chance they'd choose Allen over Floyd. Floyd will have had a year of experience with the team and coaches and has performed VERY well. They aren't going to pay the same or more for a guy who will need to learn the Defense and grow with it over a known commodity in the building. If Floyd chooses to go elsewhere, then maybe we'd take a look at Allen. But if he wants to stay and the money is the same - Floyd will get re-signed 10 times out of 10 over signing Allen.
  7. While I wouldn't be opposed to Fournette being active the rest of the way, he was only active because Ty Johnson was hurt. When Johnson is ready, he'll be active. He's impressed both on Offense and Special Teams. Yes, I know Fournette was returning kicks. But Johnson is a down field gunner and blocker - which is more important. Yeah, that's not how it works. You don't sit a WR, which would bring us to 4 total WR's active to activate a 4th RB. The bottom line is Johnson is active before Fournette and we're not going to have 4 RB's active. If you wanted to make an argument that Fournette should play instead of Murray, it's something i'd consider. But that's unlikely as he's the best pass blocking RB and is consistently the lead guy pushing Josh into the End Zone. Only way I see Fournette active is if there's an injury to Cook, Murray, or Johnson.
  8. I've had it with these soft zones. So tiresome watching a DB let a player run by him bc a DB who's 15-20 yards behind him has him "covered".
  9. He's been so inaccurate lately, it's absolutely maddening. Feels like 75% of his throws are underthrown. Get it together Josh!
  10. No, he's not slow. He may have lost a step from College, but Cook ran a 4.42 pre-Draft and Fournette ran a 4.51. For a RB of his size, that's actually fast.
  11. In a vacuum, there is hypocrisy there. But the difference boils down to the crux of the problem for Araiza. Tyreek Hill is an Elite #1 Wide Receiver. Araiza's... a Punter. Even if he's the greatest Punter that's ever lived - it's far and away the least valued position in Football. And by a large margin. If Araiza were a QB or a WR, he'd have been playing this season. But even being cleared, his being signed by a team would bring attention to them and alert the fanbase and community of said signing team to the tale. And no one wants to deal with ANY sort of distraction for a Punter. I'm not saying it's right and I'm not saying I'd be against him signing with the Bills or any other team. I'm just pointing out why he hasn't been signed yet.
  12. And luckily for him, he was in a state that protects such an act under those circumstances from a charge of Statutory. In other states, he wouldn't have been so lucky. And this is a major part of it. Things like this may fall under the category of "boys will be boys" and surely, similar uncouth, if you will, situations happen all the time with NFL players. But they aren't released to the general public in blow by blow (no pun intended) details. Even if technically, no crime was committed because of jurisdiction - the party and how he behaved is public knowledge and it doesn't look good on his character. And when it comes to a position like Punter, there's no room for ANY character question. I watched the Real Sports episode on him and it included Andrea Kramer quoting a GM saying something along the lines of "I have daughters, I wouldn't touch him with a ten foot pole". And I was confused at first, because this was said after knowledge of no crime being committed was released. But I think him having slept with an underage girl within minutes of meeting her, not knowing who she was, or her age is a turn off to some GM's.
  13. Then he'll be released with an injury settlement. That dead cap hit was going to be taken on regardless. Yes, it would only save 6 million this year. But in the shape we're in we'll need any help we can get. And there's more than just next season to account for. He has another 16 million cap hit in 2025. As for the hole in the roster, it's already been replaced with the Rasul Douglas trade. Douglas, Benford, Johnson, Elam, and Neal are all under contract next season.
  14. The frustrating thing to me is all of his targets of late have been at the line of scrimmage or just beyond. Brady seems to not have any downfield throws designated his way. On one hand, I get it. He's always covered mightily and it's wise to go to open people. But you have to try from time to time and the line of scrimmage isn't his game.
  15. The only way Tre is coming back next season is if he's released and comes back under a new contract that is all incentive laden. We have an out on his contract after this year that we have to take. You can't continue to pay him the contract we signed him to before his injury in the state he is in now. Especially when we're massively over the cap.
  16. No one's bringing him on to an active roster this late in the season. He's missed two years of NFL training. You hope he's still been training in his down time, but no one's throwing him straight on to the field with one Pre-Season game under his belt total from last season. I'd imagine he'll get offers to be brought into Training Camp's next season. Outside chance someone signs him to a Practice Squad spot to store him now. But if the Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel HBO show is any indication, most teams around the league don't want to deal with a Punter that could cause controversy in the Public even if he were to be completely cleared (and he was). In a lot of ways, the damage has already been (unfairly) done.
  17. James Cook is equal to their best Back. Kelce and Diggs are a wash in my opinion. Josh and Mahomes are a wash or pretty close. Who else do they have Offensively that has them having more firepower than us? I see it as at least dead even, honestly. If not us having the advantage with Kincaid and Knox with similar roleplayers elsewhere.
  18. Honest question and I'm sorry if it's been covered - but how can you be arrested, have bail set, post bail, and not be charged with a crime?
  19. Let's see if that remains the same tomorrow when every pundit in America, sports and non-sports alike, are lambasting the team for being okay with it.
  20. I can. Head Coach of NFL Team admits using 9/11 Terrorists as Positive Example of Teamwork in Team Building Activity The Headline is so absurd and so offensive from a PR standpoint, if anything it's being downplayed around here. Tomorrow it's going to be everywhere. On every talk show. It's already being picked up by non sports outlets. It's already the top headline of ProFootballTalk. Like I said before, hit piece or not, his admitting to it having happened is going to be a media firestorm tomorrow. The likes of which he may not be able to come back from.
  21. Two things can be both true and not mutually exclusive: 1.) This is a hatchet job 2.) Things in this article are accurate. He admitted to the 9/11 thing and apologized for it publicly. It was a tough position to be in, as denying it with players in house knowing it happened - would make him look really bad to the locker room. However, admitting it as he has, will become a media firestorm that will forever tarnish his reputation. While I don't necessarily expect it, confirming that it happened could lead to his immediate dismissal. The optics on it are that bad. It's already the front page cover of ProFootballTalk and will surely be a lead in of every major talk show tomorrow. And there will be many calling for his head.
  22. Matt Araiza won't be signed by anyone until the Civil Case happens and he wins it. No one will sign a Punter who has a legal case involving sexual assault, regardless of what the cops have said. The proof is in the pudding. Not only are we not touching him, not a single team in the NFL has gave him so much of a whiff, outside of the Jets giving him a simple tryout. If you have (the former HBO) Max, watch the Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel episode they did with him and this story. Andrea Kramer talked to GM's across the league and most said he's untouchable because of the public perception, possible backlash, and the position he plays. You may feel he deserves an apology and a second shot and you aren't alone in feeling that way. But the situation just is what it is. Even after he wins his case, his reputation is forever tarnished. However unjustly that fact is. And no one is willing to deal with even the remote chance of controversy when it comes to a Punter.
  23. Exactly. It's not hate. It's just a no brainier business move. We're in terrible cap shape. His contract pays him as one of the top CB's in the NFL. And that contract has an out after this season. Even before the Achilles injury, it's something we'd have to consider depending on how well he performed throughout the season. Now it's just something that has to be done. We can't continue to pay him as a Top CB out of love and sympathy. That's not how the league works. It's a sad situation. But simple business logic doesn't denote "hate". I loved what Tre brought to the team, who he is, and his abilities before his injury. But we have to get out from under that contract.
  24. Yeah, I'm a little confused as to why we'd be interested. Kincaid is playing his ass off for a Rookie and I have to imagine Knox will be back soon. Unless Knox's recovery is going badly - it doesn't make a whole lot of sense. And yes, I know he has underperformed this season - but I find it highly unlikely McDermott would just bury him on the depth chart. Either way, with the guys we have in house and our record - I have to assume he'll choose a different team anyways. The Ravens need a TE1 with Andrews having Ankle surgery. I'd bet he goes there.
  25. He's definitely middle of the road. The thing that bothers me with him is he seems to have a mental issue with his game. He'll go on a streak where he'll hit everything for a while. Then he'll have a miss or a block and he'll go on a string of being hit or miss. After the block, I was fairly certain his next try up was going to be a miss. And he was money earlier in the season. But lately, he's been very unreliable. He has a big leg, but is nowhere near as accurate as other kickers. I'd like to see some competition brought in next offseason, at the very least.
