  1. ...worth every penny they paid for him.
  2. My local school system put a property tax levy on the ballot for more $$$ five times in the last year and a half. This past November, this past August, this past May, and so on. Along the way, they did eliminate the position of "Director of Quality Assurance" - that job paid a mere $79K. The director had a staff of zero. The teachers absolutely exploit the children, and teach them greed. They send them all over town each time the levies come to the polls, shouting things like "give us more money!". Always accompanied by a union teacher, of course. After the previous tax increase levy passed - they spent 1.3 million on a new football stadium. The City of Cincinnati maintains a building, where they house teachers that have erred this or that way. On full pay - firing them is impossible. Of course, there are tons of "parents" that aren't worth 2 cents. They don't give a crap about their whelp'seducation. Cincy built a new school a couple of years ago, in response to the cries claiming that an old building was the cause of poor student results. The same kids moved back into the new school, and proceeded to rip the daylights out of it. No scholastic improvement, just the same vandalism and violence.
  3. The money that the schools and the teachers extract out of the hide of the tax-paying public is beyond obscene. Of course, that doesn't affect the projected 47% of the population who don't pay a lick. Taxation wisdom: http://jmm.aaa.net.au/articles/13052.htm
  4. My sincere condolences.
  5. I flew the now-defunct Nord Air when I worked in the auto biz and visited Canada. They were tops, never a problem. IIRC Air Canada sucked them up and killed the name in the late '80's. The memory falters. I have few good words about Air Canada, btw.
  6. A little solace...'08's #46, 2nd rnd B'gals pick. Who? http://www.bengals.com/team/roster/Jerome-...aa-e7dda3c9255a
  7. Is Gilbride showing up? Buddy might be angling for firing off another well-deserved smack.
  8. It should be a terrific contest. I watched the early season U Cinn-OR State match and it was a heck of a game! Best of luck for them! My ESPN feed here is showing it.
  9. Well said.
  10. I read somewhere that the NYJ has 2 DBs out. Don't know it they were starters, but that has to hurt them filling out their game day active roster. Also read somewhere that McGee is doubtful and something the same for Byrd - not sure. Let's hope that Fewell gets the leg up on rookie Sanchez once again.
  11. I can't see the crabbing about ticket sales, sellouts, wherever the venue. Thursday - night game - etc. - that's tough for the following workday for most folks.
  12. I'm lighting up a Winston. Aahhhh, how sweet it is...full, rich, tobacco taste...mmm...
  13. I'm wary of such. Here in CIN, U Cincinnati has a shill department that makes like pronouncements for a fee. Including political ones. They are wrong most times - you just flash the cash to the tenured, civil service, union profs and tell them what you want the results to be, and they reliably deliver same. IIRC they said that the city got 7 million bucks of outside money from the B'gals 2005 playoff game. A subsequent analysis by a private sector outfit pegged it at around 2 million.
  14. I think so - that's what I've read thru the years. Perhaps someone with more knowledge will chime in about that...
  15. No choice but to do so. He has that #11 contract...
  16. AFAIK, finding a NT in the college ranks good enough to make the pros is a problem.
  17. You insult my friend. Ta. Bye.
  18. A battle between two schizophrenic clubs. Bills win.
  19. Thanks for the eyewitness report - much appreciated!
  20. But what about Lee? That bond is as strong as the SilverNRed - Mandy Moore affair.
  21. Sorry - I don't mean to rag on you. Sounds like he's got some bunch hounding him - for what reason, who knows?
  22. The practice of frontal lobotomies should be re-visited.
