  1. Unless studies show there is more revenue to be made in the long run locating in downtown.
  2. You can't get around the fact pro sports are expensive and a luxury.
  3. One reason to replace what we have is what we have is getting old. I know I was surprised to learn that Highmark (meh) Stadium is older than War Memorial was when it was replaced. And those of us old enough to remember that dump believed it was built by the Romans. But the real reason for a new stadium is money. It's why the NFL has been pushing for one for what seems like forever. As far as the league is concerned, Bills tickets are too cheap. And you can't simply double prices in your current stadium. You have to build a new palace. And it's more than just ticket prices. Other than charging you for parking, teams don't make money off tailgating. Instead of acres of people eating food they brought with them, replace it with bars and restaurants in and around your new palace, some of which the team owner might have a stake in. So get ready for change.
  4. Something that @Kirby Jacksonpointed out that matters here: you can't create a new pricing structure without a new facility. That alone makes a new stadium a given.

  6. Actually Buffalo was passed over for Miami in expansion. But then Bob Rich was offered the Expos for $190MM instead. He passed. He never had to pay a franchise fee but he know he could never afford to compete in MLB.
  7. There was talk of burying the 190 under downtown ala Big Dig. But it would be easier to do if they dug out the highway next to the current one.
  8. I'll just put this here. Could be another April Fools prank.
  9. They have been pretty good, though the last Rangers game was their worst effort of the year. Ullmark single-handedly stole that point. The most disappointing player so far has been Eichel. Could be lingering injury or not having a full camp. But he's been very meh this year. I'm hoping the good play isn't another early season mirage like the last few seasons.
  10. He was a Covid opt-out.
  11. Also looks like some primo road trips.
  12. I have to wash my hair that night.
  13. These signings don't really mean much in the end but it's nice that C-Wade is going to be at camp next year.
  14. Agree. KC took away everything the Bills did well. Utter domination on both sides.
  15. What I took was the Chiefs figured out the Bills game plan so well McDermott was afraid to leave points on the field. He didn't trust anything the Bills could have done on 4th down. Mahomes and company scoring was not a surprise. KC's defense essentially erasing the Bills offense was.
  16. The problem is his blocking. I get no one like those big sacks but I'm not clear on what Josh is supposed to do once he's wrapped up? Throw it away? That's a grounding call.
  17. Working. I have two high school hockey game broadcasts to call today and Sunday. Luckily will be done by 6pm tomorrow.
  18. I was at this game. It was my unemployed snow shoveler period. Had just been laid off but wanted to get a ticket. The Bills needed snow shovelers to clear the stadium. Miserable work. But we all got $5 an hour plus, as a surprise, a ticket to the game. (Don't forget that Ralph and ch.2 bought the last few thousand tickets to lift the blackout.)
  19. I clicked here thinking it was an Onion story.
