  1. Joe or Leslie?
  2. Photographically, artificial turf adds girth to the midrift.
  3. Architecturally, didn't they restore the wading pool at MLK park? Also isn't that right near the Buffalo Museum of Science? Also I believe there are some Underground Railroad sites. Not necessarily for a Bills fan on a short visit but there are a few things to do on the East Side.
  4. I see the Broncos game is on November 13th so there is the possibility of cold, wintry weather. Keep that in mind. IF you go to Niagara Falls (and it's well worth it if you've never been there) Goat Island is the main feature of the so-called Niagara Falls State Park. It is awe-inspiring. I was there last summer with my 20 year old, California-raised nephew. I had visited many times as a youngster and young adult growing up in WNY but seen through the lens of adulthood and my nephews eyes, I came away with a whole new appreciation. The natural beauty is breathtaking and the landscape architecture is superb. Also you can access the Cave of the Winds and the Maid of the Mist nearby. Across the border, Niagara Falls, Canada is an illustration of the difference that governments can make regarding the use of natural resources. The Canadian side is everything the US side should have been (for instance, no toxic waste dumps). The Canadian side is a VERY NICE tourist district by any standards but you will need a passport to cross the border. Enjoy your visit to Western New York.
  5. Not only that, he's too commercialized.
  6. The contract Harty received has gotten some criticism for sure. Not saying whether the Bills overpaid or not but it's highly likely there was competition for his services... most of the time the compensation is a result of the market. Same goes for Connor McGovern.
  7. This raises a sub topic that no one has really addressed to my knowledge. As a disclaimer let me first say that I do not think McDermott will be anywhere near a hot seat. He's taken the franchise too far in a good direction to be on thin ice. The only scenario I see him being under the gun is if the Bills somehow miss the playoffs in 2023. If that happens he'll be on thin ice for 2024. THAT SAID HOWEVER, it's important to remember that McDermott was hired before Beane and it's reasonable to say that McDermott hired Beane. So... if McDermott were to be fired, who would be pulling the trigger? It's hard to believe that Beane even has the power much less the inclination to fire the close friend who hired him. So if McDermott was let go wouldn't it be Pegula making that decision? And if Pegula were to fire McDermott would Beane survive? He and McDermott are so close and collaborative that it's really hard to say whether any major decision the team has made was made by one or the other. In addition their bodies of work are fairly inseparable so I'm having a hard time imagining the firing of only one of them. It seems to me that they're a package deal and if one goes, they both go. And again, I think the conversation is pretty premature.
  8. Funny conversation. It's really not easy apportioning blame. The one area I look at as a function of coaching is Josh's turnovers and also his reluctance to throw underneath. I'm not gonna dig up numbers but I believe that Josh's turnovers and particularly red zone turnovers took a big jump last year. It seems like Josh hadn't even thrown a red zone interception until sometime in his 4th year. To me this raises the question as to whether Daboll was much more demanding and disciplined with Josh than Dorsey was... that he had Josh on a shorter leash than Dorsey. We'll never know of course but I certainly think it's possible.
  9. More likely that would be a hot dog.
  10. Your post makes me wonder how many QBs have won a Super Bowl before the age of 27... Anyways, Happy Birthday Josh!!! So grateful you're our quarterback!
  11. Ralph used to be transported in a fully-loaded Ford Taurus... I'm pretty sure that's a much more expensive car than anything you've owned. 🙂 Saban and Cookie both went up after Ralph passed... two injustices finally corrected. Thankfully it no longer matters how Ralph felt about a Buffalo Bill. On a related note did Ralph have issues with Butch Byrd? Byrd is by far the most-deserving Bill that hasn't been honored on the Wall. Good list. One of the most popular Bills ever... Does that mean that law enforcement was underofficious? There already is a Wall of Fame committee. "Selections are made by a distinguished panel composed of club personnel and media members." https://www.buffalobills.com/team/alumni/wall-of-fame Wrong... Butch Byrd. Easily deserving. To the bolded, many would argue that Ruben Brown was a pioneer in the opposite regard. Schobel: 133 games, 78 sacks, 21 forced fumbles. Kelsay: 147 games, 32.5 sacks, 8 forced fumbles Television makes the world go 'round... I can't imagine the WOF not being in the stadium bowl where broadcast directors can pan across the names allowing announcers to comment on the "great players" and "rich history" of the team.. We'll see.
  12. I fixed it for you. In recognition for him coaching Josh to push the ball downfield and disregard his open receivers underneath, I propose "Forsey." Logic or @Logic? Cue Gunner Bill in 5... As @JakeFrommStateFarm posited, Josh was a big advocate for promoting Dorsey. Now Josh has the opportunity to make Dorsey look good or not. There's no question Josh is a top 3 QB... can he take the final step and win a Super Bowl? On paper it looks to me that there's enough talent to do so. Can Dorsey and Allen come through?
  13. Apparently Isaiah's comments on Tyler Dunne's podcast didn't only opine on the outcome had the game been played in a domed stadium... he used that subject to suggest that the Bills coaching staff was out-coached by the Bengals staff. https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2023/05/20/jamarr-chase-responds-to-claim-bengals-bills-playoff-game-would-have-been-different-in-a-dome/ “The Bengals ran basic routes, maybe we should’ve did that, ran basic routes,” McKenzie said, via SI.com. “Like out routes, go balls, you know, instead of running routes that you have to be going lateral or coming back to the football, or turning and running curls and things like that. If we were in a dome it would have been a totally different game.”
  14. It's a given that the food and beverages are going to be expensive. That doesn't mean they have to suck though. Thanks for the link. Too bad they don't mention which companies have the F&B contracts. What's most interesting are the comments... very little pro-Buffalo shaming but lots of people commenting on how crappy the food is and has always been at Bills and Sabres games. Delaware North/Sportservice is not very popular and there's very little sympathy towards them losing the bid. I think their longtime ownership of the Boston Bruins is one factor... that and the fact they suck at what they do.
  15. In this case it would be a free agent signing. Even if Rousseau does, I'd like to see another pass rusher. You can't have too many, especially when your best edge is in the twilight and the rest are unproven.
  16. Not quite peanuts but not a ton either: https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/baltimore-ravens/justin-houston-7789/ The actual point to me is that Justin Houston (9.5 sacks), Leonard Floyd (9.0 sacks), Yannick Ngakoue (9.5 sacks), Robert Quinn (18.5 in 2021), Melvin Ingram (6.0 sacks),and Frank Clark (5.0 sacks) are all free agents. None intend to retire and none will get the money they're seeking which means that most of these guys if not all can be had fairly cheaply. Of this group Frank Clark and Leonard Floyd have Super Bowl rings which could mean that like Justin Houston, Ngakoue, Quinn, and Ingram might find the Bills an attractive destination.
  17. I'll be very surprised if he plays so much as a single down as a safety in the NFL. Yes he does. His weight is non-issue to me.
  18. A 5 page thread on a message board convinces me of nothing. If it was in North Collins about the high school football team maybe, but not an NFL message board. That doesn't even move the needle as they say. Just a bunch of bored NFL fans talking about very little... as happens here every day.
  19. To the highlighted regarding John Elway, Brandon Beane just completed his 5th draft with the Bills. In those drafts he's selected 39 players. Statistically this would be considered a small sample size... not enough to have much statistical validity. Beyond the small sample size there's also an element of luck as it applies to good and bad offseasons. There's no debating that all clubs have hits and misses. NFL GMs have a small window in which to establish themselves. That means it's imperative that they have near-immediate success. The problem is that player personnel success is not predictable or proportional... some offseasons are epic and others are forgettable. With bad luck you might start your tenure with no appreciable improvement and you'll get fired. In other cases if you had 2-3 solid offseasons at the front end of your tenure, it'ill probably buy you some goodwill when the pendulum of luck swings the other way... as in the case of Elway. My point is that although many perceive the success and failure of GMs as fairly clear cut, there's a lot of luck involved. Most NFL GMs are fired based on short term results (small sample size) which are not necessarily a reflection of their competencies. In many cases they just weren't afforded enough time. As it applies to Beane, his most recent drafts have come under some criticism but employing the same systems and methodology (trusting the process), there's no telling when he might have a draft for the ages. And this is true for most GMs because none of them are infallible and many of them are simply not given a fair chance, especially those that get off to a slow start.
  20. To me, regardless of whether it comes from the player or the agent, the scrubbing of the social media account is a meaningless and empty protest. I don't think it really applies much pressure to the club because it's become so commonplace. And I'm one who agrees that it's childish. No one bats an eye anymore when it happens. Can you imagine being the Jets or their fans? They swung and missed on Sam Darnold (3rd overall in 2018) and then Zach Wilson (2nd overall in 2021). No wonder they went the trade route this time. The Jets won the Joe Namath Super Bowl but have almost nothing to show in their history aside from that... The New York Sack Exchange? While we're still without a Super Bowl we do have a higher all-time winning percentage as well as leading the all-time series between the teams. And yes, I detest the New York Jets too... almost at the same level as my hatred for the Patriots and the Dolphins.
  21. It was 6 years ago but I've had nothing but bad luck since that glorious victory in the 2016 Big Bowl. The Ground Chuck is gonna be kicking ass and taking names in 2023!!!
