Week 12: Buffalo Bills vs Philadelphia Eagles
Rich Stadium Original replied to BuffaloBillyG's topic in The Stadium Wall
Bills have 2 DBs on IR, 2 were limited in practice, and 3 didn't practice at all today. I think that officially hits the "decimated" threshold. If the D-line doesn't play lights out, I would expect the Eagles to put up a lot of points. The question is can the new, "more fun" offense keep up if it needs to, and hope for some breaks or turnovers. Turnovers and unforced errors by our side might be too much to overcome. -
Yes they still had their moments at times last night, but overall I think we have seen great improvement in the O line. Continuity and lack of injuries has a lot to do with that. At the beginning of the season, it seemed like Allen was running for his life a whole lot, and the holes in the running game just weren't there. Against one of the best front 4s in the league, they more than held their own. Allen had a clean pocket MOST of the night, and the Jets only managed one sack. Going into the game, I think the line ranked 2nd best in the league in run blocking and showed more of the same last night. Another big test will be coming next week against the Eagles.

Around the NFL - Week 10 - Sunday, November 12th
Rich Stadium Original replied to RiotAct's topic in The Stadium Wall
This!!!.....Goff had 33 dropbacks and ZERO sacks with Bosa and Mack on the other side. Had all day to target receivers...who thinks that will happen when the Bills play the Bolts? -
Couldn't agree with you more..but I want to go one step further. I am an Air Force vet with over 20 yrs service. Even flew enough combat rated missions to earn an Air Medal..but I am always humbled and in awe of the folks on the ground in the front lines. In the last two wars in the Middle East, even driving a truck was a very dangerous mission...so combat isn't always what you think it is. To ANYONE who has raised their right hand and taken the oath to defend this nation, I salute you!!

The Official Fire Ken Dorsey Thread
Rich Stadium Original replied to VaMilBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
Different team...different QB....yet eerily similar: Panthers Fire OC Mike Shula and QB Coach Ken Dorsey After Loss vs. Saints https://syndication.bleacherreport.com/amp/2753233-panthers-fire-oc-mike-shula-and-qb-coach-ken-dorsey-after-loss-vs-saints.amp.html -
Wonder if Allen isn't being distracted by what I call the Ryan Miller syndrome (former Sabres goalie) Ryan hooked up with a Hollywood actress who decided she didn't want to be in Buffalo..Miller asked for a trade to the west coast so she could be closer to her work. In at least 2, or maybe 3 interviews I've seen with Allen very recently, he has mentioned how the team is close because they get together a lot as there is really nothing to do in Buffalo..no nightlife...never heard him complain about that before. May not be at the core of his problems, but could certainly be a distraction

Rasul Douglas to Bills - per Rap
Rich Stadium Original replied to SCBills's topic in The Stadium Wall
From a friend of mine from the midwest..he's a die hard Packers fan: You're gonna love him! Pack grabbed him off the Eagles practice squad and immediately made an impact. You won't find a CB around with his length, he's pretty quick too. Going to miss him...INT'd Stafford at a game I was at two seasons ago and it's the loudest I think I've ever heard Lambeau -
Week 9 thread - We’re on to Cincinnati
Rich Stadium Original replied to BillsFan619's topic in The Stadium Wall
Anticipating a very challenging match-up with the Bengals. Their offensive line is finally getting their act together. Against a seemingly fierce pass rush, Burrow had absolutely all day to throw against SF...just pitch and catch with his wide receivers. Unless McD can come up with an innovative game plan, I would expect more of the same. The Bills pass rush, which had been the terror of the NFL for the first three weeks, seems to have fallen off a cliff. So...how much confidence do you have with the Bills offense keeping up in a shootout? -
So...not a whole lot of love for the HC on this message board..fair enough..some of the play calling and game management has been horrendous. But can anyone show me any precedent for an Owner/GM firing a coach mid season thats 5-3 after sustaining the injuries that have put many of your key players out for the season? If the team continues to collapse as the season goes on and ends abruptly, a firing is a possibility..but ANY chance of McDermott being fired now are somewhere between slim to none.

Defense should be embarrassed…
Rich Stadium Original replied to LabattBlue's topic in The Stadium Wall
Earlier post mentioned it, but remember when the Bills earlier this season lead the NFL in pressures and sacks?..What happened?..Well, you lost your push up the middle that set up your edge rushers. This week.. 1 sack for 4 yards...last week not much better for a Giants O line that had been stocking shelves at Walmart the week prior. Epenesa, a hobbled Groot and hobbled Miller just ain't getting the job done with no pass rush up the middle. -
Much has been made of the numbers of targets for Diggs in the Giants game. On the broadcast, looked like they were playing a mostly cover 2/ 2 deep look with man underneath. Diggs mentioned after the game he had never been double teamed more in his career. With Kincaid out, the Bills played as much 11 personnel as I had seen all year. Which begs the question...were any of the Bills receivers able to beat their man one on one besides Diggs? In some of the wide angle replay shots I saw, (which were few) there was little to no separation from Bills receivers and the DBs. So...is this a function of target fixation by Allen? Allen afraid to routinely throw into a tight window, or "throw somebody open" for fear of an interception? A bad scheme, with a terrible route tree / play call based on what they are facing on defense? Or a lack of talent on your receivers just not getting open?

So, the Bills offense looked awful , but... Throughout the 1st half, the defensive line was pretty dominant pressuring Taylor including 2 sacks. During the last drive they couldn't get a whiff of him..and thats all your starters against a bunch of 2nd and 3rd stringers that should be restocking groceries somewhere.

Goodbye BarBill, Hello Bar at Main and Hamlin.
Rich Stadium Original replied to Draconator's topic in Off the Wall
Ahhh...I remember my college days back at the Univerity at Buffalo in the early '80s, when most bars around the Main Street campus had ten cent wing nights, and a pitcher of Genny Cream went under $5......of course the minimum wage was $3.25, gas was $1.25 a gallon, and you could have great seats at a Bills game for under $20..... -
I didn't see your posts earlier on your familiarity with the NAT tracks...my apologies. However, think you are still missing the point. The way the original question was posted is how can a flight from BUF to LHR be seemingly much less flying time than a flight from JFK to LHR when it IS further. The fact that both flights use CLOSE to great circle routing is irrelevant. BUF is still further from LHR than JFK is, and should be somewhat longer distance..albeit not by much..and thus a longer flight. (and neither flight is really flying great circle..routing from BUF to the NAT entry point would probably add a little time to flight as well) The reason it MAY be significantly longer out of JFK IS block/taxi time. I'm a Captain at a major US airline I've been with nearly 25 years, and a pilot in the Air Force 15 years before that. I have spent many an afternoon on the ramp at JFK delaying my push after door is closed and brakes released because lineup for departure is over 30 planes long and an estimated hour plus delay for takeoff.
-
Well, you are partially correct...yes the distance in not THAT much different between NYC and BUF to London in a straight line..but a plane from Buffalo would never be allowed to fly direct to London. Instead, the flight must join the North Atlantic Tracks (Nat Tracks). A floating track system that varies daily over the North Atlantic to optimize winds. More correctly, the reason for the difference in flight times is that it's really not a flight time posted by airlines but a block time. A flight from Buffalo has maybe 7-10 minutes of taxi time after block out, while a flight from say JFK at peak evening departure times may see a block out to takeoff times exceeding an hour or more.

1. It is tough to win in today's NFL without a top tier quarterback. 2. Mac Jones isn't it..and not much projected in free agency at the end of the year 3. Except for one season, Belichick has had a hard time winning without a quarterback named Brady. 4. Patriots weren't going anywhere this season anyway. Anybody think Belichick got the head nod from Kraft that it would be okay to suck it up this year for a chance at Caleb Williams and a long term answer in N.E.?...dont forget this is the guy who videotapes other teams practices etc., and would do just about anything to win.

Week 2, Rayduhs v. Bills - Predict the Score
Rich Stadium Original replied to Freddie's Dead's topic in The Stadium Wall
Wow, have you seen the injury report for the Raiders??..looks like mid season. Will be more telling after tomorrow after folks get their treatments/rest -
Somebody who reviews game footage can confirm, but it seems to me the Jets played a pretty soft cover 2 last night, taking away the long ball and double covering anything deep (see 2 ints.) Teams have done this in the past, but I seem to remember Beasly in the slot running about an 8 yard pattern around the hashes and just setting up--had a great knack for finding the soft spots. If the longer ball wasn't there, he was the go to guy..kept many drives alive by going 2nd or 3rd and short. Thought Kincaid was supposed to be that role (a la Kelsey).but it never happened..Was it just a matter of Allen ignoring that option, or was it not even in the route tree last night?
