  1. Just came across this on ESPN site. According to that metric, Allen had the 11th best statistical QB performance for the weekend...which shows some flaws in the system. For those of you keeping track, Jackson finished #1. https://www.espn.com/nfl/qbr
  2. Yes...the defense looked pretty bad, but lets not forget: 1. Two of your top three CBs were out with injury. 2. Starting safeties have hardly played together in the preseason 3. It was the Ravens offense..talent up and down the lineup. 4. Two big free agent D linemen for Bills under suspension. If/when players come back from injury or suspension and we still see this kind of performance against a lower team, I'll be concerned...last night, not so much given the circumstances.
  3. Essentially starting 3rd stringers at corner on an opening game is nothing Ive ever seen before. If that is the case..yes..the offense better play pretty mistake free football and light up the scoreboard.
  4. I'm sorry, when I see the uniform I keep thinking of Mr Snow Miser from "The Year Without a Santa Claus"
  5. Am I the only one who scrolls through other teams cuts to see what cornerbacks might be available?
  6. I think over the last few seasons, fans have seen playoff losses partly due to having some bad depth at certain positions ( see Chiefs game--Bills linebackers/secondary) I think most everyone has confidence in the Bills starting lineup, and that the team will do well IF THEY STAY HEALTHY. That preseason game may be doom and gloom for some in that for key positions, they can see just how bad some backups are...and don't want a repeat playoff performance and elimination.
  7. I wonder if below the surface if there is some resentment about Hamlin being on the squad from his teammates. I'm sure hes a nice guy and good friends to a lot of the players, but if we see what a liability he can be on the field, rest assured the rest of the players can see it as well. On the flip side, if he IS cut, along with other fan favorites and feel good stories like Andreesen, it may send a message that ANYONE can be cut if they dont produce.
  8. I haven't watched the all - 22 or anything, be it seemed as though the linebackers were not getting deep enough into their drop backs quick enough(see:Andreeson in particular) and with the safeties playing such a deep cover 2 shell, the middle of the field seemed absolutely wide open. Not sure if its schematic issues with the safeties, or if they are just slow in recognition and reaction...the Bills never clogged up the middle of the field forcing throws to the outside, and you saw the results
  9. https://bearswire.usatoday.com/live-story/sports/nfl/bears/2025/08/15/bears-bills-joint-practice-live-updates/85674176007/ Plenty of updates from the Bears reporters..albeit with a little bit of their bias built in...
  10. Hey, Sherpa...congrats on the retirement!!..I'm a 737 CA in ORD with 15 months to go..will retire off the narrowbody. Couldn't agree more about the controllers in Chicago. Folks here have only hit the tip of the icebergs here with fix names and stories behind them. Hope you are enjoying football more now that you dont have to keep packing the suitcase...Go Bills!!
  11. My gut feeling and speculation only is he has been torn from the start from advice from his brother and agent versus loyalty to his "brothers" on the team. Dont think his heart was ever into the sit out, and he knows that his continued absence is hurting the team, his friends, and everyone's chances at a championship.
  12. So...the all-knowing all-powerful NFL top 100 thats in progress had Cook ranked at #89, and Williams at #85...so subtract 4% from his contract and offer it to Cook...
  13. If I remember correctly, his brother Dalvin started the ball rolling on this renegotiated contract stuff right after the Denver playoff game. (Saying hes certainly a $20 mil dollar back) I'm curious how much James "tactics" and dollar requests are his own beliefs, and how much is influenced by his brother and agent.
  14. Ive always found it interesting how a player is unable to make any public comment in his OWN HEALTH ( aside from some cryptic stuff) until the team comes out with an official statement.
  15. In regards to Bass, wonder how much of it is comfort with the holder?..certainly hasn't been any consistency in that area(punters) the last few years.
  16. Also hard to believe the Chiefs are as low as 16th. I'd like to see some of the logic and criteria behind the selecrions
  17. ESPN recently did their rankings of teams in terms of skill positions (WR,TE,RB), and the Bills came in 28th out of 32 teams, while the Ravens came in 8th. Every Ravens game I watched last season, a well protected Jackson seemed to be just playing catch with wide open receivers..while in Buffalo, where Allen did have good pass protection, he still extended plays on multiple occasions and threaded the needle on windows to receivers that WEREN'T that wide open...or using his legs when a play just wasn't there. In my opinion THATS why he is the league MVP. Can't look purely at the numbers.
  18. It has been brought up many times how relatively slow Coleman is..and accurately so. But what I do find interesting is that his numbers at the combine were virtually identical to Nacua. In fact, I think Coleman was actually a bit faster in the gauntlet drill. So what is the difference between their games? Does Nacua have a skill set that Coleman doesn't have? Maybe with a second more healthy season with Josh Allen will bring out aspects of his game we haven't seen yet.
  19. Think the lack of a long ball is a combination of things. Obviously a speedy receiver is part of the equation..but after having some deep success with the likes of Foster and Brown in his first couple of seasons, teams started playing more of a cover - 2 high shell defense against him...Allen has mentioned it a number of times in interviews. He sees it a lot...as does Mahommes...hence the lack of an explosive KC offense last season. As that type of defense has a much higher probability of a turnover on a long pass, the new ball-security Allen doesn't like the odds and usually ends up going with the underneath routes instead...and you can't argue with recent success.
  20. For those of you who read too much into what the draft EXPERTS have to say, here is the NFL spin on Benford from three years ago..."Average Backup or Special Teamer" Grade : 5.95
  21. Yes, I was at that very first Redskins game. Went to many games since then, great memories. I've moved away from and back to WNY over the years, and now live about 5 minutes from the stadium. Still a great Bills fan, but dont think I'll be attending the last game at the stadium. Unfortunately, at 63 Ive turned into one of those grumpy old men who'd be yelling to the fans around me "sit down and shut up..I want to watch the game"... Besides, the last game next season will be the AFC Championship Game where the Bills beat the Chiefs...and those tickets are going to be awfully expensive!!
  22. Overall, pretty pleased with the off-season with one glaring exception. Good job by the front office restructuring contracts and retaining a lot of their players. The second suspension sure blindsided the management, but how could they have known. What I find disconcerting is the lack of attention given to the secondary. I think most would agree that it was one of the weakest links on the defense and probably the entire team, and if anything its so far gotten a little worse with a somewhat average corner in Douglas apparently headed out for free agency. Don't know if there is a master plan yet that includes draft day and/ or trades
  23. I WAS at that first game in Rich Stadium in August of 1973..80,200 fans...terrible traffic jams...my dad had bought 2 club level season tickets for $7 a piece per game. As the roar of the crowd reached a crescendo right at kickoff, the Bills kicked to the Redskins to start the game...the ball went 2 yards deep into the endzone...where Herb Mul-Key promptly ran it back for a touchdown.
  24. I think it's just wonderful that Belichick decided to invite his grand daughter to attend the awards ceremony with him.
  25. Don't believe much in betting odds to determine outcomes. Betting money placement ultimately determines odds. If as a collective group betters were smart Las Vegas, Draft Kings etc wouldn't exist.
