Some rules that I think are dumb
Rich Stadium Original replied to Dan Darragh's topic in The Stadium Wall
Don't think so...in 1st scenario, spot foul puts the ball at Chiefs 20 yard line..in 2nd scenario, offsetting penalties, replay the down at original line..Bills have the ball at their OWN 20 yard line. -

Hold was a spot foul downfield..penalty is assessed from the spot of the foul...10 yd penalty from spot of the foul -
Some rules that I think are dumb
Rich Stadium Original replied to Dan Darragh's topic in The Stadium Wall
Okay..follow this one, for example: Bills have the ball on their own 20 yard line. Cook breaks free and is running down the sidelines. Shakir is flagged for holding just before Cook enters the end zone at the Chiefs 10 yard line. It's a spot foul, 10 yard penalty from spot of the foul, Bills ball at Chiefs 20 ...first down. Same exact scenario, except as Cook enters the end zone, a Chiefs defender grabs his face mask generating a second flag...offsetting penalties...replay the down back at the Bills 20 yard line. By the Chiefs committing a foul, it actually worked out to their advantage...do I have that right?..or is there a rule covering this I dont know about? -
I think you can blame the offense's issues on a number of sources. Although he hasn't said much and overall the protection has been good this season, I think Allen has taken some pretty big hits already this year. In the Atlanta game, the Falcons blitzed on like 79% of drop backs..and ridiculously huge number. I blame the coaching staff for not coming up with enough plays to slow down the blitz rate (and/or players weren't getting open on hot reads) If you combined a quarterback who wasn't comfortable with the play selection because it wasn't producing results, yet led to a lot of free rushers and hits, it leads to a lot of bad QB decisions and throws.

10/13/2025 Bills at Falcons - Post game thread
Rich Stadium Original replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
I usually reserve judgement on Brady when there is a lack of execution, but he takes some serious blame for this loss. EVEYONE knew the Falcons were a blitz happy team, yet the offense looked totally lost out there when Atlanta blitzed. It seemed like Allen had a blitzer in his face most of the game, and nowhere to go with the ball -

For those of you who track such things, ATL is averaging 15.7 yds per rush. -
Game week thread - Bills at Falcons MNF
Rich Stadium Original replied to BillsFan619's topic in The Stadium Wall
Just came across these tidbits this afternoon: Josh Allen has 12 TD passes vs the blitz this year..the highest in the NFL..since 2022, he is the highest rated quarterback vs the blitz. So far this season, the team with the highest blitz rate??...Atlanta Side note...the collective records of the 4 teams the Bills have beaten is now 3-21. -
They actually held Maye in check for the most part in the 1st half...he went like 9/16....then went 13/14 in the second half... Not one pass breakup or contested catch for Pats receivers in the second half. Forget about anyone being even close to an interception... White is a definite liability out there, and safties are slow to recognize and close on the ball...not sure how you fix this with the personnel they have

Game week thread - Pats at Bills SNF
Rich Stadium Original replied to BillsFan619's topic in The Stadium Wall
Why is this game important?.. If the Bills win, especially convincingly, they probably cuise to the AFC East title again, and are the favorites for the #1 seed and 1st round bye. If they lose, they would only have a 1 game lead over the Pats(who would then have the tie-breaker) and probably be nipping at their heels the rest of the season. Because of all of the above, I would fully expect an all out playoff type effort by the coaching staff, Allen, and the rest of the team Sunday night..they know how important this game is, too. -
Week 5, Cheats v. Bills, PREDICT THE SCORE!
Rich Stadium Original replied to Freddie's Dead's topic in The Stadium Wall
In the last 2 minutes, Maye drives the Pats down the field against the Bills prevent defense going 3 for 3 on 4th and long and the go ahead TD to Diggs. Allen masterfully puts the Bills in position for the game winning 60 yard FG attempt which sails wide right as time expires..HOWEVER..the Pats are flagged with a roughing-the-holder penalty (injuring yet another punter) Trubisky comes in as backup holder, and from 15 yards closer, the kick is good.. Bills win 31-30 -

THE ROCKPILE REVIEW – At the One-Quarter Mark
Rich Stadium Original replied to Shaw66's topic in The Stadium Wall
Agree...I would put an asterisk with a TBD in assessing the Bills so far this season. After tonight's game, the teams the Bills have played are a collective 2-14. Granted four of those losses are due to the Bills, but I'll hold my evaluations off until the team plays opponents like ATL, TPA and KC-- which should provide a better indication of where they stand. -
Say what you like about the defensive scheme and play calling, but these stats courtesy of NextGen and the NFL review of the game show in many (but not all cases) the defense was in position but just couldn't make the play. Courtesy NFL.com: Yielding 189 yards on the ground, Buffalo allowed 165 yards rushing after contact, the third-most by a team in a game since at least 2018, according to Next Gen Stats

9/28/2025 Bills vs Saints post game thread
Rich Stadium Original replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think the game plan was to chuck the ball down the field more than previous games. I saw Allen's first read was a deep pass a number of times, but it just wasnt open enough for him to pull the trigger. Of course, he may have been a little gun shy after the INT as well. -
Saw this in passing today so I dont have the actual numbers at my fingertips, but some interesting numbers from the PFF folks. Normally I take their stats with a grain of salt, but found it interesting that the top graded player for the Bills against the Dolphins was Edwards at about a 95. They also mentioned that collectively through 3 games the Bills offensive line grades out at number 1, about 10 points higher than the number 2 team..and that spread is pretty significant.

Haven't seen it anywhere else on the board here, but wondering if I was the only one cringing at Josh Allens stiff arm on his 40 yard run Sunday. Thought the run was great, and Romo even mentioned the wherewithal to switch the arm he was carrying the ball with to decrease the risk of a punch out. But where I cringed is where he used a stiff arm WITH HIS THROWING HAND to try to gain a few extra yards..especially around the face mask of the defender..where he could have easily jammed/broken/sprained/lacerated/dislocated finger(s) on HIS THROWING HAND. Truly appreciate the effort, but the time out of the lineup is not worth a few extra yards on the play in my opinion...

Just came across this on ESPN site. According to that metric, Allen had the 11th best statistical QB performance for the weekend...which shows some flaws in the system. For those of you keeping track, Jackson finished #1. https://www.espn.com/nfl/qbr

9/7/25 Post Game Thread - Bills vs Ravens SNF
Rich Stadium Original replied to BuffaloBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
Yes...the defense looked pretty bad, but lets not forget: 1. Two of your top three CBs were out with injury. 2. Starting safeties have hardly played together in the preseason 3. It was the Ravens offense..talent up and down the lineup. 4. Two big free agent D linemen for Bills under suspension. If/when players come back from injury or suspension and we still see this kind of performance against a lower team, I'll be concerned...last night, not so much given the circumstances. -
Game week thread - Ravens at Bills SNF

Essentially starting 3rd stringers at corner on an opening game is nothing Ive ever seen before. If that is the case..yes..the offense better play pretty mistake free football and light up the scoreboard. -

Overreactions to Preseason games
Rich Stadium Original replied to Ya Digg?'s topic in The Stadium Wall
I think over the last few seasons, fans have seen playoff losses partly due to having some bad depth at certain positions ( see Chiefs game--Bills linebackers/secondary) I think most everyone has confidence in the Bills starting lineup, and that the team will do well IF THEY STAY HEALTHY. That preseason game may be doom and gloom for some in that for key positions, they can see just how bad some backups are...and don't want a repeat playoff performance and elimination. -
If you are cutting Hamlin, do it now...
Rich Stadium Original replied to Ethan in Cleveland's topic in The Stadium Wall
I wonder if below the surface if there is some resentment about Hamlin being on the squad from his teammates. I'm sure hes a nice guy and good friends to a lot of the players, but if we see what a liability he can be on the field, rest assured the rest of the players can see it as well. On the flip side, if he IS cut, along with other fan favorites and feel good stories like Andreesen, it may send a message that ANYONE can be cut if they dont produce.
