Certainly true towards the back half of that duo’s tenure here, but I believe in the beginning, Poyer played more center field. Maybe not 50-50. by 2023, with all the injuries, Poyer was basically playing hybrid big nickel.
-
An actual terrible list. Not even trying to have Bills bias here, but Greenlaw plays 34 snaps in 2024 and he’s top 5, but Milano playing the second half of 2024 is an honorable mention due to injuries?

Stanley is easily a top 32 tackle.

Purdy and 49’ers extension. 5 years 265 million

I agree with all of this. Not everyone can have a Josh or a Lamar or a Brees or a Peyton. It’s not like those guys emerge every year either. The top 3 QB’s, Lamar, Josh and Mahomes were all drafted 7 or 8 years ago. And they were the top 3 QB’s 4 years ago as well. Brees, Peyton, Brady in any order were a top that pecking order for what, at least 15? The Dalton line has been used to describe a QB you can win with vs a QB you can’t. Goff clears that and honestly imo so does Purdy. They aren’t necessarily perfectly ideal but 28 teams shouldn’t tank because they don’t have the top guy. The Eagles just played in 2 of the last 3 Superbowls with a guy nobody thinks is closer to Josh than Goff. -
The fact of the matter is that once it comes postseason, no one is under the radar. The Bills are going to have lofty expectations every season because they are a great team with a great QB. Even last year, when there was expectation that we would be worse, by the time the second or third playoff games rolls around, that’s out the window.

I honestly considered getting anything for Elam a bonus. I was concerned he was going to be outright cut in camp and had zero value.
-
If we can beat the Packers and get NE starters resting the last week of the season, we can probably make the playoffs. Just need to not lay an egg against the Raiders.

The list that Kirby posted: Eagles (2) Ravens (1) Bills (0) Chiefs (1) Lions (2) Rams (2) Commanders (2) Packers (0) Bengals (2 Has exactly 1 QB on a rookie deal. Josh Allen has a lower cap hit than Stafford, Burrow, Lamar, Tua in 2025. He has only $4M more than Goff and $7M more than Love. It’s very helpful on the money side of things to not pay a QB. But we managed to pay Diggs and Josh big money, together, for a few seasons. You certainly can’t pay everyone, but you can pay great ones. I think Jeudy should have made it, but there’s probably some thinking that he was an empty calorie numbers guy. I didn’t watch a lot of Browns games (who did) but it is funny that he exploded in year 5.

Josh Allen gets record contract extension $330 million

You are going to get comments about them “doing it right” when we have an empty trophy case, but you are making a fair point. -
Most Beloved Bills: 1 year (ok up to 2)

Some of his tape in the back Q of 2016 was full of business decisions. Including the Steelers game where Bell gashed us for 200+. Zach was walking around out there. -
As a Kincaid fan, if he doesn’t take a jump this year, it’s not time to be concerned, it’s time to admit he’s sadly a bust.

Tarpley is kind of a sad story. He was Milano as a rookie before Milano (having some impact plays where you could see the vision but not yet a full time player). Retired abruptly when a lot of other guys were retiring abruptly due to concussions. a few years later, changed his mind, tries to make an AAF/XFL comeback and then that was it. -

All time Bills quitter. -
It will be interesting to follow Elam. I lean that he is unfortunately just a bust, but we will soon find out. McDermotts track record of getting more out of CBs than other teams, guys like Dane and Levi, even Douglas is still pretty stellar regardless.

I think you are underrating the Eagles. I think you could go position by position on their 2024 team compared to ours and find at least half of their starting players would start over ours. And the 2024 Bills were VERY GOOD. That speaks volumes about their talent imo.

Purdy and 49’ers extension. 5 years 265 million

The Bills don’t carry Josh Allen. The teams Jared Goff have been on is a different story. He was traded away from a SB losing team who immediately won a Super Bowl. He has been very good in Detroit, even better than LA, but still ugly Jared comes out to play and greatly contributed to their playoff losses. -

You needed advice because you said you weren’t sure if Purdy is better than Fields which is why you got jumped on. Everyone is sure that Purdy is better than Fields. So here’s the thing. I’m mot saying Goff is terrible. If I was defining him by a 5 pick game, he wouldn’t be a pretty good QB. He would be another Peterman. what I am saying is it exemplified the kind of QB Goff is. A QB that can be very good in a good situation with a good team. A QB who can unfortunately meltdown not uncommonly. And a QB who looks better than he is because he has a very good team around him, good enough to beat a playoff team despite their QB actively trying to lose it. -
No, but that makes it sting more. There are a lot of ways to get superstar talent. Honestly, Beane has a pretty good philosophy. He LOVES high-ceiling guys in round one. Guys like Ed, Josh, Edmunds, Groot, even Elam, had All-Pro potential physically if they could reach it. It’s just that outside of Josh, none of them have. I think TBD would be very boring if one of those guys had hit their peaks, because we’d have one Super Bowl and there would be very little to complain about.

I just view Goff as a bus rider, not a bus driver. He’s not a bad QB by any means and can look really good in the right environment. Every QB is essential to a teams’ success. Tua is essential to the Dolphins’ success. When he plays very well, they are a playoff team. But Tua, like Goff, has some pretty big flaws in their game that rear their ugly heads and ultimately cost their team. Really, the point is that your painting of Goff’s 5 pick game and stealing a win as evidence of his personal ability is the complete antithesis of what I believe it demonstrates. I watched that whole game. That was not a marvelous comeback orchestrated by Goff. It was Goff CONSISTENTLY trying to give the game away, and his defense keeping them alive to win on a field goal. Allowing 10 points on 5 picks is a historic team achievement, not a QB achievement, imo. And when it came to the postseason, bad Jared came out to play and his defense couldn’t save the day, and they got embarrassed and sent home early. Up 7-3, he fumbles. Washington scores. Down 3, Jared throws a pick six. Down 10 going in to the half, another pick. And the Lions could never catch up. That’s Jared Goff. -
What good OT did you think they should have drafted instead of Moore or Worthy? The Chiefs, as you may recall, traded a first round pick for Orlando Brown and won a Super Bowl with him. I think it’s fair to say they know that OT is important.

Purdy and 49’ers extension. 5 years 265 million
RoscoeParrish replied to DJB's topic in The Stadium Wall
It was evidence that he can play like complete and total garbage and still win. Probably the biggest piece of evidence he will ever have in his career. Yes. The reason why the Lions were in the drivers seat for the #1 seed and ultimately finished with more wins than Baltimore or Cincinnati or Buffalo is not because they have a better QB or a better coach but because they have a better team. The Lions allowed 10 points on Goff’s FIVE picks. -

RoscoeParrish replied to DJB's topic in The Stadium Wall
I feel like that was the worst thing to happen to Goff. I think if Mahomes, Burrow, Jackson, Allen throw 5 picks, they are losing by 100. Goff has enough talent around him to steal a win. -
The thing that worries me the most about Keon is that at the start of the 2023 CFB season, he was being talked about like a first round pick. Over the course of the year, his stock kept falling and it wasn’t because FSU was terrible. I think the pros who do this for a living did have some valid concerns about his ability to separate at the NFL level. Despite that, he had a much better rookie year than I thought he would. He wouldn’t be the first WR to just be “okay” as a rookie and then explode on the scene. He also wouldn’t be the first that has an okay rookie year and just stays there because of a limited skillset. Our own Josh Palmer had a decent rookie and second season and that’s just kind of who he was.

I mean, we are just sharing opinions. Isn’t that all we do here? I don’t know if the Bills are better off with McConkey over Coleman. Maybe they aren’t. I suspect that McConkey may be a better pro than Shakir but it’s still early. I personally think that would have been a tough fit for both Ladd and Shakir but I also don’t feel strongly that it wasn’t a mistake looking at Coleman vs McConkey in 2024. I’m not really sure why you find this so frustrating. We are just talking about the Bills. It’s a long offseason.
