  1. Oh I am sure they probably know most of the same people it is after all a somewhat exclusive club being a NFL HC. It's why most staffs are filled with coaches that HC has had previous employment with somewhere in his past. If they lose Leslie and say Wft cans Rivera I don't think he's on hot seat but if he was let go I could see thm both discussing hiring Rivera as new DC. . And certainly if Beane knows of a candidate that he feels would fit he could suggest an interview with that person. But coaching is not Beanes responsibility or where his expertise is. . Beane is more of a bean counter and probably has a decent knowledge of contract terms but I bet he doesn't insist on writing the legal contract himself but let's one of the team lawyers draw up the contract to his specifications. . Beane has never been a coach at any level as far as I know, I'm sure he knows alot more coaching concepts just by the constant exposture and access to picking the brains of coaches in just workplace conversations. I could see this scenario... daboll gets hired as hc McD is putting together his list of successors. Beane has a few inquiries for position from some bright upcoming college rank oc and it is inquired thru his scouting staff that handles that area. Beane talks some shop about that coord with the scout and any knowledge he has, might be a coach he's dealt with on scouting trips. He asks Sean if he'd fit or at least warrant an interview for oc. But Sean has final say over his staff. He has to work closely with that oc on gameplanning. I doubt beane ever takes part in gameplanning, he may listen in and he might throw out a suggestion if he saw a interesting play at a scouting trip but its not like he adds that play to the callsheet Daboll has each week. I don't even think Beane ever played football, maybe in HS but not at any high level or we'd have stories like we know McD is a champion wrestler. So all Beanes knowledge is via the fan angle more than an athletic or coaches viewpoint. When its x's and o's its McD's call and I don't feel Beane would have any input or even wish to have input in a coaching decision. . They have a great working relationship and likely a strong friendship as well. Probably both previously had hoped to work together in future back when they were at Carolina. McD got hired and pushed for Beane as GM. Could be construed as McD having power over GM as he was instrumental in Beane being hired. Or that has been assumed by most people and never seen any statement to refute that. But McD isn't overstepping into GM responsibilities. He doesn't need to as they make a great team and they let each other do there jobs trusting the others abilities. Its alot like the players being successful when they focus on their job and having trust your teammates do theirs and the play works because one player wasn't trying to do his job as well as anothers.
  2. Certainly where player acquisition is concerned thats Beane's call with input from the coaching staff led by McD. Just like Sean would have no input when Beane needs to tweak his accouning staff that deals with cap ramifications. When its a coaching hire and coordinators in particular the HC gets the call unless he's incompetent and the dynamic between HC an GM is totally different than the working relationship between McD and Beane. McD might ask Beane opinion on possible replacements but McDermott is detail oriented he has a rolodex with all his various coaching contacts. If either coordinator gets hired away you can bet calls would be coming in asking about the vacancy asking to interview for it. It would occur after the SB and thered be plenty of time for Sean to go thru the calls and his own personal coaching contacts to make up a short list of candidate to interview.
  3. Lol I think at this point with Nick's record regarding his bills predictions I'm thinking I never want to hear him picking and praising the Bills.
  4. I know Beane is a big part in this success but I would believe he's hands off when Sean is picking his staff. Beane is in charge of player acquisition based on what traits Sean and coaching staff want for their schemes but I'd be shocked if Beane had any say other than if his opinion is asked by Sean. Now when they need replacement players then the 2 are both involved as the contract terms and cap are all under Beanes responsibilities. Staff isn't part of the cap so he has no input based on his responsibility.
  5. One point some people are bringing up is the season is long and the schedule looks ripe for the Bills to lose focus, get over confident leading to a few upsets. I say the way the Bills can keep their edge while fighting boredom from less than iron competition, is they can use this easier schedule to try out new plays to tweak them where needed more on tape to give future playoff team more to prepare for.having our defense is just a great way to use any of the games we take comfortable leads on we can go into testing mode try out new wrinkles, they can experiment see how teams react to a sudden no huddle drive from nowhere thats just to guage our offenses ability to do it. We don't need to run the 2 min offense much in games so well in hand that they could just throw in a few such drives randomly in some of our upcoming easier games. And I'm not being disrespectful of the upcoming teams as its the NFL and any team can punch you in the mouth as Pittsburg did week 1. However that sucker punch if you will has our team prepared for any future jabs and they are prepared to deliver knockout blows and it can be offense or defense that delivers it or more likelly a combination. I guess my point is McDermott is playing 3d chess while boxing for the right to get to the championship fight. But I like your War Games comparison so I guess its War Games vs Rocky.
  6. We may indeed lose them to HC positions. I do agree that McDermott has a list of potential coordinators to replace either if they move on. You can bet he will have solid replacements. Of course a new oc or dc might make some changes but really having new wrinkles with the we talent we have is a good thing as it means tape will not be enough to solve the Bills going forward as well. All the plays the team has mastered offense defense both is not wasted in a change just gives our players more versatility for a new OC or DC to add to. Not like with Daboll gone Josh will suddenly forget how to read defenses. They may even have the right candidates already on staff. Least of the concerns is whether or not McDermott will chose the right replacement. Certainl, chose wisely when he felt a change was needed from Dennison, he brought in Daboll. That turned out well so no reason to think Sean suddenly won't know how to chose from those he gives an interview to. Also as Josh gets more and more experience and knows how to counter different defensive looks they don't need to find a OC that can groom a rookie qb they have the Franchise QB. Part of that is the QB is proven enough he has some input into offensive direction so its not like they'll hire someone that is gonna wanna change things drastically. It's a different interview when your trying to replace a successful coordinator thats taken a promotion than filling the position after a failure and need to fix that side of the ball.
  7. Yes 2010 Chargers but they had bad special teams I think our ST is decent not sure where they rank currently.
  8. Brandt is predicting 21 - 20 with a late crucial bass fg. So he's thinking 3 tds 3 missed xps the in waning seconds bass redeems his 3 missed xps with gw fg to win by a point. Cause that's only scenario that fits his score prediction. I'd rather just see offense just go crazy on titans while the defense keeps doing its turnover thing.
  9. Wonder if Chicago moves on from Nagy as well. Being Frazier was part of the 85 Chicago SB team he might want to be HC there if he's got fond memories of his playing there. Yea I expect we'll lose one or both if we get to the SB. Buffalo's current success is as much an unexpected turn around after that long drought even if it was easily explained by the NE stranglehold on the AFCE not discounting being tops in league often during their run, as Josh's rise in status in his accuracy and general development. However unlike BB, I feel the future results of the McDermott tree will be filled with more successes. BB's coaching tree is just filled with alot of rotten apples. They do say fruit doesn't fall far from the tree so thats not such a surprise.
  10. Plus getting another minority HC may help with any fallout over gruden having been able to hold a high position for so long if he kept up with his bigotry openly. It would actually be disappointing if he was openly bigotted and it wasn't a secret amongst players and other coaches. I mean if he was clever enough to hide his bigotry its one thing but if he didn't bother and it was commonly known by players other coaches then thats a bad reflection on just the whole NFL - players, coaches, owners. I'd feel it would be hopeless if that known behavior was allowed to exist without at the very least some anonymous tips to raise awareness
  11. Also there some talk that can get heated in the midst of a close physical game. Then there's times when heated words exchanged when players feel a penalty is ignored. The ref criticism that Baker Mayfield brought up in post game will incur the fine he acknowledged. Don't know how much the criticism is gonna impact how calls go for and against him in future from his public complaint. I guess it depends how much clout his commercial sponsors have with the league. Its usually not a good idea to criticize referees as they have a lot they have to watch for and the game is so fast at times hard to always catch all the borderline and sometime blatant fouls.
  12. Well certainly no one would consider the KC defense as a 'better defense' .
  13. The only thing about Gruden resigning that concerns me is will they be hiring Leslie Frazier away from the Bills this coming off season. I really hope we don't lose Frazier but I also would love for him to get his second shot as a HC if he really wants that shot. He certainly deserves it if thats what he wants.
  14. This is what I take from the above statement. Josh Allen = Superman Patrick Mahomes = Wonder Woman
  15. Just shows how good a teammate Josh is allowing some of his practice reps to be diverted for Rousseau to tip for ints. Josh isn't a stat hog even in practice.
  16. Bah can't edit the part of your post i want to quote. The big difference in this game imho, is the Bills are a team that has a franchise QB thats an alpha DAWG. He leads the team to play as a pack of dogs after a bone. KC's franchise QB is just a glory hound that we now see is not an alpha male but a whiney little female dog. The post game interviews the contrast is clear. Sure Mahomes is repeating the standard losing team rhetoric but it is kinda evident he's only mouthing words he doesn't really believe. He stresses it take a team to win and they will figure things out.... goes on to awkwardly point out the great players they brought in and they are great players brought in who have been good in other places. Thats plain to see he doesn't believe they are great players based on their current play. Can't fault him for seeing their stars aren't pulling their weight but a leader gets everybody on the same page. A glory hound who deflects blame and won't shoulder his part in the losses. At least not really believing the cliches he's spouting to explain away the loss and lack of team success. Josh even in victory it seems its always more credit to the We than any concern about the I. He makes sure the other players get their share of the praise. The way Patrick seemed to awkwardly try to acknowledge talent on the Chiefs not named Mahomes seemed almost like he couldn't even name the players they brought just using the we brought in great players who are proven in other places. During the game you tell he knew he couldn't match Allen. We have a leader who can depend on his teammates and they have a player that needs to depend on gimmicks like shovel passes or no look passes to keep a defense on its heels more than on his talent or teammates. Without those splash plays he's not really all that great of a qb. He's never needed to add to his bag of tricks. Well everyone sees the qb behind the curtain now. Its not surprising the Lombardi isn't in Kansas City anymore. Even Mother Nature chimed in her opinion dousing Mahomes like the bucket of water took out the wicked witch of the west.
  17. We are Buffalo, resistance is futile.
  18. I disagree I don't think they make it to the playoffs. I think we are gonna witness a big collapse in KC as they don't have the defense and the offense can't compete with defenses that have learned to play them tough. We may have gotten a few penalties but more importantly we were the more physical team. On defense the pass rush didn't actually sack mahomes as much as I wished but they had him rattled so they got the job done.
  19. Well I think. Knox did better than kelce this game. But to be fair seems like Josh has more weapons he can trust, plus a whole defensive squad that will get the ball back to him.
  20. Yea I'm kinda just saying I did truly want and expect them to shut down mahomes more than they managed. Yes KC was getting away with alot of holding on our youngsters, so I'm disappointed for them. As a Bills fan as long as I see the effort from all players wearing bills gear on the field then I'll always cheer for them. I don't even mind so much the lopsided ref calls. The nfl always overprotective of the top star players, the good news is we have several players just joining the ranks of becoming the face of the league. So we will start seeing some calls go our way more, though tbh I'm glad our players are more competitive than whiney looking for flags every time they don't make a play. The refs may have turned a blind eye on some holding but our guy made sure the chiefs felt it when they tackled and their ol probably wore itself out earlier than was wise. Once we pulled ahead they had less energy to continue to try manhandled our waves of fresh dl. And groot I noticed shed a few holds to seal the edge on a few rushes. Overlooked on groot and bashem both just got to our training staff once they have a season or two of getting their strength up to nfl standards then good luck to ol trying to stop them. So I expect they will improve just like Bruce Smith improved leaps and bounds after he got his body and strength to his peak, we could see similar jump in groot and bashem.
  21. We'll be no 1 seed in AFC and I believe op was implying that the chiefs may not even be a WC. They maybe seeing their easy road to post season window has closed. They can't neglect defense and yet they haven't solved protecting Mahomes so they gotta hit on an awful lot to compete with that new king of the AFC, you know the one with top offense and top defense. Thats the new narrative that the Bills are generating with their complementary play. It was there for everyone to see. Bills get stopped a few times no panic defense get the ball back or limits the damage on scoreboard. KC got stopped their defense couldn't get the ball back for them. Bills are a complete team they don't need Josh to carry them yet if its needed he has the ability to do so and doesn't shy away from it.
  22. And I'm disappointed that they let KC score 20. I guess KC's offense is better than I gave them credit for. On a positive note the defense will just have to notch a few more shutouts to keep the points per game low so they at least are within good range to try set the record. So my disappointment is more that I enjoy the players getting the highlight plays when they have the spotlight. Course the only really important stat is W-L so they got the right priorities. They did manage to keep their streak of multiple TO's going though so enough to outweigh the 20 burger they allowed.
  23. Well then those fans (KCfans that leave) probably said they'd believe Bills win when they see it so they'll claim this 2nd half beatdown never occurs. But there'll be plenty of highlights in2nd half by Bills offense and defense as they play keeping the ball away from Mahomes while Josh keeps leading time consuming scoring plays. That in turn will cause Mahomes to press and our defense will feast on a few more turnovers. Like to see defense player running off field with ball handing it to Allen for him to give to refs as he owns their Defense.
  24. No its Mother Nature showing Jackson Mahomes how to really throw water on somebody.
  25. Complete team roster allday, everyday. And while the 3 players you named all are stars I don't know as I'd say mega elite stars. I don't know if there is any athlete I'd ever say is mega elite in any team sport. Closest would be TB based on the results, but I don't give him that status either because there's just too much credibility that some shady practices helped with those results. Other people don't believe any cheating took place and think Brady is greatest ever fine. I dont. As the evidence was destroyed we can't examine it at a future time. And Mahomes is a top QB but again not like he's so much more talented than many of the young guns that are playing well. I get it lot of you are afraid he's the next Brady. There won't be a next Brady. There's way too much talent across the league and too many different ways to win to have the opportunity to match Brady stats. Personally I'll use 2nd place when I look at the records he holds #1 as being more legit as the record for that category. Mahomes is talented yes and Josh is as well. Today right now I like the team play of the Bills over KC. Both teams bring their 2021 A games on offense and defense I like the Bills over KC.
