I wear a watch for work. One reason is teaching. With the near universal use of slideshow-based lectures, working clocks have become a rarity in our lecture halls; instead, you are expected to use the computer clock. However, I still do a lot of my teaching on the whiteboard (which is preferred by most students) and often will not even switch on the computer.

For my money, the best band ever from Ireland (sorry, U2). Unfortunately, they were very short-lived. Rory Gallagher died much too young in 1995.

A new band recently discussed in another thread. They are so much fun to listen to...

Upon recommendation by my daughter, I have been following this band now for nearly a year. They produce some of the most catching indie pop on the market right now. Both of the "official" band members (Rhian Teasdale and Heather Chambers) and their three band mates are from the Isle of Wight on the south coast of England. There does not appear to be an obvious link of any band member to Western New York. All the videos are shot in England, mostly on the Isle of Wight. Now for something completely different...

As my son goes to UT Austin and plays in the Longhorn Band, I have watched a lot of Bijan Robinson. He is terrific. To me, he seems indeed better than all the RBs in this (2022) draft. Unfortunately, he will be long gone before our pick at #32 in the 2023 draft.

I would not worry too much about disturbing mourning doves. A couple of years ago we had a pair breeding in a hanging shrub right next to the entrance of our house. While we use mostly the garage entrance, the main entrance is used once or twice a day by deliveries. In that case, he doves just hunker down in their nest. Only if you have a closer look (as I did from time to time), the parent would leave the nest, but return a few minutes after I had left. In that year, they raised three chicks. Other bird species that have nested on our 1 acre lot: Mallard Barn Swallow Western Kingbird (a very interesting nest, with lots of man-made blue plastic strips woven into the twigs) House Sparrow Curve-billed Thrasher Grackle (most likely Great-tailed) Due to increasing urban development in the neighborhood, the variety of wildlife has suffered.

Well, as I am in charge of the Thanksgiving feast, it will probably mean that the turkey will be served already on Wednesday. Last year we had to do the same as our son who is playing in the Longhorn Band had to be back in Austin on Thursday.

I call BS on this. Smerlas was not smart enough to come up with something as witty as this. A google search of the quote, even allowing for modifications, did not give any result closely resembling this quote.

Multiple? He arrived in New England after their 2017 Super Bowl win (2016 season). He only won the one after 2018 season.

I love Those Darlins. Too sad that Jessi Zazu, their main lead vocalist (the short-haired one), died in 2017 of cancer at the age of 28.
