What about our closest relatives? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Infanticide_in_primates

I think I might be late to the party, but it just occurred to me that I had seen Moon Zappa before, as the girl flirting with Rusty in National Lampoon's European Vacation.

Thanks for posting this - I had never before heard of it. For me, the "Over the Hills" part did not do much. Most of the suite parts were not well developed and ended too quickly for my taste. The integration of political statements could be handled much smoother, as e.g. by Chicago on their first album (as the Chicago Transit Authority). Side two, "The Bastiche", I liked much better. There were at least three "songs" (or parts of the suite) which I loved (Voyage To Cleveland; Sun In The Flame; Louisiana Home). Thanks again. JW

If you have 20 minutes of spare time, here is a BBC program on NESARA. https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/w3ct1xzv Apparently, NESARA started rather innocently in the 1990s with focusing on some of the economic aspects. Then, in the beginning of the 2000s it was hijacked by a nutcase who called herself the "Dove of Oneness". She added half of the points shown in Poleshifter's pic above, mostly the more political/social ones like world peace. Since she took over 20 years ago, NESARA published numerous predictions that the global economic system would collapse soon - of course, this has never happened (so far?). The only new twist that Poleshifter's posts add is the involvement of cryptocurrencies.

I agree completely on Tyrod. Here is a collection of his "he might have something" moments. Looks like Tua's highlights. Unfortunately, it does not show the other 95% of his throws.
-
I wonder how @Poleshifter is doing. In another thread about cryptocurrency he was very gung-ho about his financial outlook. He wrote: "I expect to have millions of dollars by the end of the year. I had never expected to be rich, but then I happened into XRP and then XLM. I have about 40-45% of my net worth in crypto, and a similar % in precious metals too. I am just waiting for the big event to cash in some of it, keep most of it long-term." Well, both XRP and XLM did a nosedive. Since last summer/fall, they lost 70% of their value. Silver (he referred to silver in another post) also lost 25% value in the last year.

To celebrate Friday Happy Hour, a drinking song... That was the best live clip I could find, recorded 30 years after the original studio recording. The audio quality is not very good. Thus, here is the original...

Today... two covers. First an old one. Alex Harvey beats Tom Jones by a mile. And a very recent one. Wet Leg capture the essence of Psycho Killer very well.

This morning our local paper announced a concert by a group that had been voted Best Band in Austin in 2017. Always on the lookout for something new I decided to check them out. This was absolutely not what I had expected - they blew me away. Here they are - Shinyribs...

Back-up QB. Keenum is clearly a downgrade from Trubisky.

While I enjoy ESPN+, the ESPN cable/satellite channels just do not show enough "real" sports (well, they show Formula 1; finally, Ferrari is back). I just cannot warm up to cornhole, axe-throwing, or their X games. Perhaps I would change my mind if the would show eukonkanto (wife-carrying, a Finnish specialty).

Just bought some today freshly prepared in our local supermarket chain (United/Market Street). $9 per lb, which turned out to be ~ $ 0.90 per wing (they are pretty large).

Do you mean "muscles", as in red meat, or "mussels", as in seafood?

Admittedly, the name of the band first piqued my interest. But despite the name there in nothing R-rated in their music and lyrics, just smart power pop. They are mostly Canadian, with two Americans mixed in (the drummer and the red-haired vocalist - Neko Case).

Your top 5 acting performances of all time

All brilliant performances. However, in one of his more recent movies, "News of the World", he was outperformed by a 12-year old, Helena Zengel. -

I am aware that Frazier is often a target of criticism here. But it seems that there are people who appreciate his achievements. Leslie, if you ever stumble across this web site, congratulations! https://buffalonews.com/sports/bills/bills-defensive-coordinator-leslie-frazier-honored-for-lifetime-achievement-as-an-assistant-coach-in-the/article_33e08518-d549-11ec-81d6-2f96b9d88ffe.html#tracking-source=in-article

I always liked songs incorporating circus music (sorry, I do not have video for any)... The classical example (as far as rock music is concerned), and one of the most innovative McCartney tunes... Brilliant, but much darker... The United States of America made only one album, but it is outstanding. No guitars, but very primitive synthesizers and "ring modulators". One of the most innovative bands of the late 1960s... Another short-lived band. The Flock combined a brass section (a la Chicago or Blood, Sweat and Tears) with a violin (Jerry Goodman).

Well, that is a very manipulative use of statistics. According to FBI.gov, the numbers for 2020 are 455 for rifles and 393 for not only hammers, but blunt objects in general (clubs, hammers,...). And then there is a much larger group of 4863 murder victims killed by "firearms, type not stated". I am sure there are also some rifles hidden in this group. https://www.statista.com/statistics/195325/murder-victims-in-the-us-by-weapon-used/

Beautiful. I get jealous when I see this variety on their facebook site. These feeders are located in Fort Davis, where it hilly with lots of trees in the valleys. We are about 6 hours away in Lubbock, where it is essentially flat with very few native trees. Compared to Rochester where we lived before, what I miss most are the warblers. Here you get yellow-rumped and orange-crowned warblers. In Rochester a trip to the Island Cottage Woods during spring migration could bring you 10 warbler species within a couple of hours. As to your suggestion of mealworm feeders, my wife would see this as a reason for divorce, even the dried ones.
-
Here in West Texas, migration is pretty much over. Thus, we have taken the feeders down for the summer; we still supply water. Many birds when raising their young switch to a diet that is more protein based, relying on insects and other invertebrates instead of seeds. Bird activity in the summer is pretty low here, mostly due to the high temps (we already had 2 days this year with > 100 F) and the lack of precipitation. The most interesting birds found in our backyard now (probably nesting here or nearby) are Western Kingbirds and Curve-billed Thrashers. The kingbirds are pretty acrobatic fliers when catching insects, and they are not afraid of humans. When I mow the lawn, I usually have one or two of them around looking for their next catch, similar to gulls following a fishing boat. The thrashers love to dig into the dirt in grooves (the technical term is "contraction joints") between concrete slabs, looking for food. And they are very meticulous. Some mornings we find one or two yards of joints cleaned out, with the dirt taken from the joint neatly piled up to both sides of it.

In honor of Mother's Day....Greatest TV Mom's of all-time?
DrW replied to BillsPride12's topic in Off the Wall
According to imdb.com: The writers original wanted to keep the family's surname a mystery but it was already revealed on the show. The last name of the family has been revealed only twice in the show, in Pilot (2000), where Francis wears the name tag "Wilkerson" on his school uniform (it can be seen best in the scene where he is talking with his family on the phone). Also, though unaired, it appears in a joke from the original pilot script. In that script, was walking to school when a neighborhood kid came running up shouting, "Malcolm, Malcolm, Malcolm. I was talking to my parents last night - I was listening to them talk, and what's your last name?" "Wilkerson, why?" Malcolm replied. "Oh. Who are the Pariahs?" said the other kid. The joke was eventually cut.
