I think he could be great if there was no salary cap. Our line did a lot better in run blocking than recent past seasons. But we don't have money to like...sign enough defensive lineman to fill a roster, so I doubt it.

I think next offseason there will be a lot more desirable openings. Dallas, Philly, KC if Reid retires, Buffalo if we miss the playoffs (or Pegula gets fed up with losing playoff games). Probably waiting for a better situation to open up (I think Seattle is pretty good IMO though).

I really wish they actually did a real interview process and brought in actual candidates. With that being said, Brady was clearly a better play caller than Dorsey. Bills passing play designs were frequently bad, with WRs ending up in the same area, Allen not having any real safety valve throw, and option routes where the QB and WR read the defense differently. They also would read deep-to-shallow, putting too much pressure on the o-line. I’m hoping Brady can make things a little bit “easier”. Everything felt so hard with the Dorsey offense, like everything had to go perfectly for a successful play.

I think we’ve been a top-5 team the last 4 years. Means just about nothing.

It’s a team sport. Bills defense has choked or just not shown up multiple games in the playoffs. Allen has only really had one bad game vs the Bengals last year.

If the Bills can’t win the SB, the Lions would be my #2 team I would hope could win it (maybe tied with the Vikings). Browns were on that list, but they can kick rocks until they get new ownership and front office.

Evidenced by his 4 consecutive NFC Championship game appearances with McNabb at QB. And then basically repeating the feat with the Chiefs. He’s probably the greatest coach of all time IMO.

Chiefs were also scoreless the second half today. Their defense stepped it up big time.

I see a lot of people complaining about the hold/semi-tackle of Flowers, saying that the refs screwed that up. They actually called it correctly in my opinion. The ball was in the air, so it could not have been illegal contact or defensive holding. It wasn’t defensive pass interference, because the ball was uncatchable (it was actually thrown away out of bounds 15-20 yards away from the contact). It didn’t rise to the level of unnecessary roughness either.

Smart penalty, but need to sell it a little bit better than that. Make it look like an accident.

For the people saying “draft 2 WR in the first 3 rounds and then defense the rest of the draft”. That isn’t really going to cut it as far as filling holes on the roster. You hope your first and second round pick get some starter reps. The rest of the draft usually doesn’t even play. How many snaps did Dorian Williams, Bernard, or even Basham play their rookie seasons? Almost none… It’s going to have to be defensive picks in the first 2 rounds, or bottom of the barrel free agents.

The metrics on offense for the playoffs would look stellar. Likely top 3 in all categories for efficiency and maybe volume. The defense would look very mediocre.

My point is, if he were calling the plays in KC that would have made him a stronger candidate for HC jobs. I think the goal for 95% of these guys is to eventually become an NFL head coach, so they will take whatever career path gives them the best chance.

It’s speculation on my part, but we’ve seen Pegula meddle multiple times to buy high price tag free agents on the Sabres (Leino, Erhoff, Taylor Hall, etc). It wouldn’t surprise me one bit if Terry was saying “buy! buy! buy!” and Beane felt like he had to go along with it. Obviously he isn’t going to ever blame ownership publicly, so we wouldn’t know. Even in this interview he said the Pegulas want to win, and it’s a balancing act.

I’m sure it hasn’t been stated explicitly, but a coordinator position with play calling responsibilities is definitely above one without. Look at Bienemy, couldn’t get a HC job because everyone knows Reid actually ran the KC offense. He had to make another lateral move to the Commanders.

Considering the Bills could have probably retained him by promoting him internally to the semi-vacant DC position, they probably weren’t too sad to see him go.
