  1. Basically the main benefit to trading for Jones would be to prevent someone like Miami, NE, KC, LAC, or Cleveland from acquiring him instead. The cap gymnastics would be an issue and also, I think Beasley would be ok with a lesser share, but having someone like Jones would necessarily take targets away from Diggs or Sanders and that could create tension. If we're gonna do something like this, get someone like Grady Jarrett instead.
  2. I don't really think this is a particularly hot take. However, Josh Allen is more physically gifted and it's not hard to see him ending up as the better QB. Mahomes is more of a sure thing, though. Ultimately, I don't think the Chiefs or the Bills would make this trade.
  3. Can't. His contract is so bad that the Bills take a bigger cap hit if he retires or gets cut than if he plays. And no one is trading for him.
  4. I appreciate the art of saying a lot without saying anything, but there is almost always a prompt for that. No one was expecting a statement. Very weird. Only one step away from toilet kitchens
  5. Why don't we give a player in a position that is notoriously slow to develop more than two years before we call him a bust? And yeah, it did help him because he was a better TE in 2020 than he was in 2019.
  6. Can't you make it mandatory for him, then? Maybe he's working on other stuff? I just generally get annoyed when the team will have voluntary workouts and then fans track who wasn't there, as though it's some kind sign of lack of commitment. Star could have just opted to retire, but he didn't.
  7. Big Cat and PFT get the best out of Josh. I haven't listened yet, but I believe they did an analysis before and determined that QBs should not be visor guys, just like QBs shouldn't have long hair because long hair QBs don't win - bad sign for JAX. E: Yeah lol, figured
  8. What's the point in calling something voluntary if you don't consider it to be voluntary.
  9. You're not paying for prime Sherman and you have Wallace and Jackson to fall back on. He was also injured week 1 and I'd think a nagging calf issue would hamper a CB quite a bit. I want Nelson but it's not like the cupboard is bursting.
  10. Judging players on tiny sample sizes isn't very prudent. I don't really care what happened in such a small number of games, especially when the player in question was almost certainly playing through injury.
  11. I voted no while being fully aware that Mahomes is better right now and there's a solid chance he'll always be better. I just would rather ride or die with Josh.
  12. It's hard to base anything on last season because he only played in 5 games. He was excellent in 2019, though. Yeah, he's two years older now, but Sherman's strengths are in his reads and processing. Even if he's 75% of his 2019 self, that's still a really good CB2, with good backup options in Wallace and Jackson.
  13. I do not want him ending up on the Colts, Titans or, especially, the Chargers. If you guys go and watch the top five throws in air yards for each week last season, Justin Herbert is in there once or twice every week. Giving him a deep threat like Julio is gonna be a problem and I believe the Chargers will make the playoffs. Keenan Allen, Mike Williams, Julio Jones is just a nasty combination.
  14. The fact that Ben Allbright was riding the ETN train all the way, plus the fact that ETN himself believed he would be taken by the Bills (meaning extensive communication between the two parties) leads me to believe he would have been the pick at 30. The Basham pick was explained: he was simply so much higher than the others on their board that they couldn't pass him up. They didn't think he'd be there. If guys pan out and you ended up having too many stars at DE, you can always trade one for a premium because that's a very valuable position. Of course, PFF would poop on taking a RB in the first but who's complaining if we ended up with a Kamara or CMC?
  15. A few weeks plus preseason plus training camp? For seasoned professional NFL linemen? No way. It's not like Thuney is being asked to play TE or something.
  16. People are ignoring them if you avoid like every news outlet. Plenty of people are already proclaiming that the Browns are the biggest threat to the Chieves in the AFC.
  17. Especially compared to the ones from Mahomes, which were mostly just drops. Hopefully a sign for the future. I don't really understand how you can have a subjective standalone stat. For example, Tyreek Hill had 11 drops last year with one outlet, and 5 with another. If there's no objective measure as to what constitutes a "dropped pass" or "turnover worthy play" then that stat is completely worthless. I mean, number of receptions is a pretty meaningless stat because a quick screen and a 40 yard bomb are both receptions in the books, but at least in both cases the receiver objectively caught the ball and advanced his team on the field. You see this in every sport, the analytics crowd starts to form and then you have sites like PFF, which are somewhat useful but unfortunately staffed by conceited a-holes who aren't smart enough to be employed in an NFL front office, so they spend their time talking down to the common "dumb fans" to make themselves feel better. For analytics driven people (supposedly) they sure seem to have a hard time being objective when it comes to retracting old, ice cold takes. What's worst about PFF is that, unlike analytic sites in other sports, you have to pay like 35 bucks a month just to be able to see their stats. It's ridiculous. There's value in being a dumb fan. I used to run a Blue Jays podcast that was gaining traction, doing pretty well, but I was always analyzing things from an analytic perspective. There's no nuance. Something is either the correct decision or the wrong decision. Your best hitter should not hit 3rd. Starting pitchers should not pitch more than twice through the batting order, etc. etc. Eventually, it just sucks all the fun out of the game and I got burnt out to the point where I no longer watch baseball because I don't enjoy it. The Rays ruined baseball and I hate them, and I'm glad that them "following analytics" cost them the WS last year.
  18. I have to believe one of Nelson or Sherman will end up on the team.
  19. I think with the uncertainty that Covid brought, we might see a few more exceed expectations than usual this year. Special circumstance.
  20. Things changing for the better would hurt Kaepernick's bottom line. I see him as a total grifter tbh. I remember those "workouts" he was holding where he didn't want to follow any of the rules and then complained that he didn't get signed. He doesn't want to play in the NFL, he's making way more money complaining about things. I mean, Madden is including him in their game as a good QB, even though he sucks. If he shut up and played football, he'd be a 3rd string QB with no Nike deal and little social capital, making league min.
  21. That wouldn't make sense though, because the stuff you're describing is what got him the contract in the first place. Then again, not like the boards of major networks are very in touch with their viewer base.
  22. As a glaring example of Josh's ability to read the defense pre snap, I present the Jake Kumerow bullet. He knew exactly where, when and to whom he was throwing the ball before he got it. He misleads the safeties by looking right until Kumerow is in position and then fires a bullet. Josh's reads are one of the best parts of his game and obviously something he works really hard at.
  23. Tony Romo sucks ever since his mega deal. His voice is grating and he seems to constantly miss the obvious. His great play analysis pre snap seems to be gone as well.
