  1. I expect to get a lot of grief but I believe that this is yet another game that we let get away. I am not just talking about the failed 4th and 1 attempt, there were lots of "non plays" in the second half. As for the 4th and 1 call --- DJ took a big gamble when just taking the points would have been enough. I am talking about precious points on the road. The Pats were reeling. There was no reason to "go for the jugular". I think you show confidence by taking those hard earned points and sending an inspired defense out there to get you the ball back. Even the old high octane Bills of the 90's would have taken 3. This was a call that resonated this message ... "we better get all the points we can, before we blow it". Guess what? They blew it anyway. Clements penalty on the Whitner interception is typical of the mistakes that plague this team. I don't know if the call was fair or not but I expect more from Clements. The worse part of the game was the second half collapse of both the OL and the DL. Especially the OL. There is no moral victory. The only way to turn this around is to win.
  2. Unbelievable! I figured that Freddy would not know much about the actual game plan to provide any help but he could at least have tied certain plays and tendencies to the different formations. Bellichek was quoted as saying they were trying to get Freddy ready to play and that he had much to learn. Hmmm.
  3. That is not the point of the game, it is the recipe for success in the NFL. Winning the coin toss means nothing if you do not do these things. Last year we won the coin toss an unbelievable amount of times .... it is practically meaningless over the course 16 games.
  4. Try this: 1 - Run the ball and stop the run. 2 - force turnovers, do not turn it over ourselves 3 - limit penalties, play smart 4 - play inspired special teams
  5. But they have most likely seen her full glory!
  6. Darn. What if Bellichek reads this and learns the secret plan?
  7. Part of his early charm is that he came off as a guy like the rest of us. Someone who likes sports and give us the straight scoop. After years of celebrity status his ego has taken over a bit. He tries to funny and he tries to be hip. IMO he lost the innocence that worked for him in the early days.
  8. If we avoid stupid penalties and negative plays we have a chance. The game will be won or lost in the trenches. It does not matter so much as to who is carrying or recieving the ball. If Brady has time he will make the completions. If their RB has a big hole he will gain yards. If our OL does not match up and control the line of scrimmage our defense will be on the field for too long and bad things will happen. I think we have a good chance but don't think that the injuries alone are that going to stop the Pats.
  9. Didn't they used to live next to OJ in East Amherst?
  10. Thomas a proven NFL veteran and is easily the better player. Preseason stats mean nothing. Gates cannot block and he has hands of stone. He had ZERO touches last year with only Shaud Williams ahead of him on the depth chart. Jauron is comfortable with A-Train and their good relationship could coax another good season out of him. So what is wrong with that? It is not like he cut a future starter to keep a friend. Gates is a 3rd stringer with limited skills.
  11. Seems unlikely but it happens. They do it when they get multiple offers or when they believe they can go to a team where they feel they have a better opportunity. I am amazed that the Bills did not add any offensive linemen to the PS yet. I still think they may pick up a veteran OT and move Merz to the PS.
  12. I guess almost every young guy has to give this a try ... just remember that gambling is a losing proposition. The ONLY people who consistently make money are the casinos and the bookies. That is why they do it. Please set aside what you "plan to lose" and after you lose it then stop betting. good luck
  13. No way. Are you comparing a Pro Bowl veteran (Milloy) to a marginal 6th WR/ST player (Smith) that was still trying to learn a new offense? Bellichek does not need Smith to come up with a game plan.
  14. Yes, I was expecting a few blasts. Wire is one of the more disliked players on this board. I still think he does a great job in kick coverage.
  15. He couldn't have lived on Brandywine. He lived in my nieghborhood on the West Side. Yeah, right down on West Ave.
  16. True. I work with lots of Bears fans and they respect Jauron a lot for that. His players are loyal to him. He is intelligent, honest, and extremely organized. His downfall in Chicago was his inability to get a decent OC. Hopefully, with Fairchild, that is not going to be a problem. Many feel that Levy wanted Jauron all along. I think the Sherman thing was a fantasy conjured up by the press. Funny how few interviews Sherman even had. - Bob
  17. Two simple reasons: 1 - Bowen is hurt. 2 - He excels at Special Teams.
  18. I showed my kids pictures of Promo and Rocketship 7 (from a website). They laugh at the "olden days".
  19. I had one once. I missed one week of softball league because of it. It hurts but you can play ... you just can't run hard, cut hard, or change direction. Just putting on the shoe is a challenge.
  20. Just wanted to tell you I enjoy your posts ... and... I like the look of the old promo better.
  21. Trey was a local sportscaster here in St. Louis and he was just a second tier flunky. I can't believe that he made it national. He is a joke. He came from the Dallas area and could not, or would not, lose his allegiance to the Cowboys. He is very unprofessional and reports with bias. I wonder how these guys ever get hired.
