  1. I don't think anyone, including ML or DJ denies that we had two major holes to fill at DT. Triplett is a good player who fits the scheme. I don't believe they think that Tripplett alone is the answer. That is why the Bills made a run at Ryan Pickett. The Bills will likely draft a DT (Ngata or Bunkley) in the first round. If not, they will be players in round 2 and 3. DT will not be position of high confidence going into the season.
  2. I am thinking we might drop down a few spots to take Justice or Bunkley and to acquire another first day pick. I sure hope we don't drop out of the first round altogether but anything is possible. I think the Bills have been active but careful in free agency. I still thinks he wants to win it all.
  3. Give me a break. Adams should have given his Pro Bowl slot to Pat Williams. Pat tied up blockers so that Sam could free lance and make tackles. When Pat left Sam could not, or would not play that game, and that is what pissed off Mularkey and Co. Look what Pat did to help Minnesota. TD screwed up when he let Pat go and kept the selfish Sam Adams. Yes ... he will help Cinc, for awhile. Adams has talent but is not a team player.
  4. I am so tired of all the one gap, two gap stuff. All I know is that on the football field Sam Adams did not pick up the slack with Phat Pat gone. Sam had problems with Meathead (I assume Mularkey) and others in the staff. I can'l totally blame Sam because many of the veterans had problems with Mularkey. Bottom line is that Sam is not a leader, he is a role player. Sometimes he is a very good role player. I won't miss Sam. It is time to draft our own players and play them.
  5. ... and for the record, Eric chose not to negotiate a new deal with us. His cap hit is outrageous. He wants to leave and publicly stated that he will never play for us again. So why should we keep him again?
  6. No --- Teague came to Buffalo as a flop at left tackle for Denver. He was a promising backup and when the time came for him to start he failed to met the high standards of a Denver OL, so they let he go in free agency after one season as a starter. TD, being the almighty football guru, talked his first Stooge (Gregggggg) into moving Teague to center. TD, being the almight football guru, cut Dusty Ziegler (who went on to start in the Super Bowl for the NY Giants) and tried to replace him with Bill Conatry first, and then Teague. Teague was servicable at best, but never a strong center. I never remember him being an "up and comer". Ditto for Bennie Anderson or Mike Gandy. They were all guys that started briefly and then failed. Th only OL we have sign thus far is Fowler and we don't know if he is better than Teague or not.
  7. We may have a generation gap here. I don't get it?
  8. There is an inconsistency in evaluating Adams and what he did as a Bill. When Adams was a pro bowler he had Pat Williams as the two gap guy, tying up blockers so that Adams could go to the ball. Last year Adams could not, or would not, play the role of the 2 gap DT. He did not tie up blockers and was considered by the coaches to be ineffective against the run. In this new defense they say they want speed and people to go to the ball. Ngata has that. Adams had that. I don't get the agruement that Ngata does not fit? Scouts they say Ngata has speed, strength and size. That he can play 1 gap or 2. Bunkley - some say he does not represent ehough value at 8th. If he project as the best DT for our scheme, and is a better prospect than any of the OTs, then why not take him. Trading down is fine but it is always a gamble that you will lose your man. Huff- if he is there at 8 maybe we take him? Problem is I doubt we will find starters for both DT and OT in the 2nd and 3rd rounds. Recent draft history has not been kind to us on either of the lines. So it comes down to a trade-off of needs, value, and how hard it is to fill the many holes we have.
  9. My prioity would be: round 1 - DT. Draft either Ngata or Bunkley. If we can slide down a few spots and still get Bunkley that would be great. The story about Ngata not fitting the scheme is crap. He could be an impact player. round 2 - Grab the best OT and hope that he can beat out Gandy this year. Then have Gandy compete with Fat Bennie for LG. at center have Preston compete with Fowler round 3 - draft a guard to push Villareal and draft a SS to push Wire/Bowen. Right OT - stick with Peters. stir it up and pray that a few of these rookies can play.
  10. Mould's value is a 2nd rounder? That is debatable, especially when the Bills-Texans are talking 4th or 5th. T. Henry got us a 3rd rounder and he a lot younger than Moulds.
  11. Good idea. I get the feeling that re-signing Willis will be difficult.
  12. Disagree. Trey is a marginal player, he has not stepped up as a leader, and be has no upside. It is time to move on. This is a strong draft for OT. Draft a OT in round 1 or 2 and plug him in. We are going to take lumps this year so we might as well do it with rookies.
  13. Moulds leaving is enivitable now. We still have some cap room and we will have even more after EM moves on. So the question remains? What to do with the cap room? Will Ralphie spend to the limit or will we start the seaosn significantly under the cap? By the way ... I think we have done OK in free agency so far. Not great, but OK. It was a lean year overall. Signing Pickett would have made us look like real players but I will remind everyone that after watching him play for the past 4 years ... he does not "bring it" on every play. I am happy we did not overpay for him but having sure would be a big help. We still need more talent on the OL and DL. Maybe we will bring in a few vets to plug a hole or two but I still think that stockpiling draft picks and playing the kids is the best rebuilding approach. I sure hope Marv and Co draft several lineman in the first 3-4 rounds. We are unsettled at QB. If Losman emerges it will do wonders for bringing this team along. This will be the year we really learn about him, if he can't beat out Holcomb or Nall that tells us something. I think we are going to take our lumps this season but hopefully, by January, the trend is upward.
  14. Really? The Moulds haters had nothing to with the trade. It was a business decision and it was ALL about money. After last season I think we all saw that Eric is about Eric. He signe with the last place team ... for more MONEY. Remember this: 1 - He did not do squat to help or mentor JP ... for whatever reason we do not and will not know. 2 - He quit on the team, just look at the film. He quit in the Miami game when JP was having his best day as a pro. He quit because he is selfish. Wilson and Marv have been very good to Eric Moulds. He acted like a spoiled child in return. He was a great player, I won't argue that. We will miss his skills but in the leadership department this could be addition by subtraction.
  15. There are unconfirmed rumors that the Bills are going to build a new, modern stadium in downtown Buffalo. This will occur at the same time they develop the waterfront with 100 new stores, night clubs, and restaurants. Then they will put in the worlds largest aquarium, tie it into the marina, bring back cable cars to take you anywhere downtown for 1$. At the same time they will construct a new Signature Peace Bridge complete with a park. Finally they reclaim some of the lakefront and add public beaches, shops, condos, etc. After that Microsoft, Boeing, and Texas Instruments (renamed Buffalo Instruments) will move their operation in and everyone will have a great job.
  16. There is always the behind the scenes stuff. Mould's issues with JP are not hidden but they seem to be driven by a EMs insecurity. I don't buy th eeverybody hates him theory. Marv is going to fill this team with younger players. JP will have more peers. Some of the veteran issues will be gone. The biggest problem with the Bills is lack of leadership and character on game day. TD talked about being mentaly tough. The veterans, especially on offense, lack this trait.
  17. Disagree, I will take Evans all day long. He is more of a playmaker and has yet to peak. Yes, Evans benefits from playing with EM but as the season progressed Evans was seeing the double teams, not Moulds. Add to this Moulds age, his contract, and his attitude.
  18. I agree with you . My only doubts stem from the fact that Marv wanted to keep Moulds. If all this bad blood exists between EM and JP, don't you think Marv would want to clear it out? Then again, maybe Marv is playing this to get something for EM, something besides cap space.
  19. 1. When JP was drafted many real football GMs and scouts liked him. Green Bay and the Rams especially liked him. Modark, Guy, and TD all liked him. Martz was really high on him as a prospect. I think they all might know more than most of us, and certainly more than some of these internet writers. 2. JP did not have a complete rookie season. The broken leg cost him reps and face time with the players and coaches. 3. JP worked VERY hard during the off season. He stayed in Buffalo almost year round and studied. Sam Wyche worked with him and invested a full year. Wyche is a QB guru, the stuff that Sammy taught JP may someday pay dividends. 4. JP should not have been handed the job. That was TD's fault. TD wanted to find the next Big Ben. TD's ego hurt the JP. 5. JP played good in most of the first quarters of most of his games, then deteriorated. Proving he could execute scripted plays, but he was not ready and could not process the defensive adjustments. Mularky, did little to help. His play calling was a joke. Trick plays, dumb calls, poor blocking, mental mistakes, a lack of talent on offense ... they all contributed to JPs problems. 6. The OL is woeful. Ask McGahee about it. Bledsoe was not much better than a rookie operating with this crew. 7. The veteran leadership was non-existent on the offense. Moulds was a big part of the problem. I will NEVER respect him for that Miami game. He is selfish. 8. Mularkey panicked and played Holcomb. Then he played musical QBs. Then he quit the Bills. Case closed on Mularkey. He was actually more of a rookie than JP. 9. JP needs another season or two to develop, most QBs need 3-5 years. He should have to win the job before he is judged. Give Fairchild, Van Pelt, and Jauron some time. JP has tools and he can lead. 10. This stuff about other players hating him is crap. I recall many vets talking him up last year during camp. Sucess will be the remedy. He should not play until they players see that he is their best shot. We don't know when that will be. 11. We have no one else. Nall is a longshot.
  20. Bucky Brooks fits in there too. Then there is Victor Allotey - he was on the roster for almost 5 years he never dressed for a game. What a gig!
  21. Me too. The JP stuff is boring but NYC-Bill and Risin are entertaining me.
  22. Your right, Jennings was a good pick. For "Marcus whatever" I was trying to think of Marques Sullivan, another of TD's insightful draft picks. Remember him? Another guy that was given a job and really didn't want it. TD's OL free agents were Trey Teague, Price, Villareal and Big Bennie but lets not forget Kris Farris , Cory Hulsey, Bill Conaty and Ross Tucker. I agree with your asessment of Marcus Price, he was a good backup. We should have kept him and Ross Tucker last year.
