The 4 Big Games Prediction Thread
Virgil replied to BuffaloBillyG's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
C’mon man. You can be miserable after Tucker misses a last second field goal, but there’s a BS flag on the play and he hits the second kick -
Anyone worth bringing in as an offensive coordinator?

Those mustaches are glorious

I just don’t understand. Carr has a !@#$ing broken back. Why are people flipping out over their performance. I see no reason why the Raiders aren’t back to form next year with him healthy. Rio’s been a solid coach. This is just stupid. They couldn’t get him out of Tampa fast enough as his players absolutely hated him. This is would be the Raiders version of doing something Billsy

An Offseason That Takes Us To The Next Level
Virgil replied to H2o's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We sign Cousins, keep our draft pics and sign a few mid level FA’s, this team is going to be in good shape for a long time and probably rule the east when Baby retires or has his hip fall off from all the steroids -
If it makes you feel any better, I’ve been here almost 15 years and haven’t received the honor of DC Tom calling me an idiot.

Am I supposed to say “F5” or “ground up in the freezer?” I’m very confused

An Offseason That Takes Us To The Next Level

With Gaines’ injury history, I don’t see him getting more than a “prove it” deal. He might get 7 mil with bonus options for playing time. I’m surprised to read this from you. Getting 4K with his current receivers is impressive to me. He’s a consistent 5-10 rank guy IMO. The 25 mil he gets will feel cheap after Aaron gets his new deal as well as some of the other upcoming contracts. I’d give him 5 yr, 125 mil in a heartbeat and not think about the Qb situation again until that’s up. You're adorable -
I still say draft. To pay the money to a FA after seeing him play in the NFL and have him still bust is more on a GM than a draft pick. Also, if it’s a risk, you can work the contract to get out of it, ie Tyrod. Getting stuck in a large guaranteed contract on a problem player, ie Dareus, is a mistake. I understand the point you are making. Draft can be lucky. FA mistakes is poor decisions.

Draft. You have no idea what you are getting. If it were that easy, the Browns would be a modern dynasty. I’ll take Cousins and his consecutive 4K passing yards here in a heartbeat. And I’ll give him 25 mil. That will be a drop in the bucket with the way these contracts are escalating. With his performance considering his WR talent, we wouldn’t be talking QB for a decade

Been here since 2003, but thank you sir

Good post, but I really don’t see how you write this before the final game. No matter what’s happened so far, if we make the playoffs, this is unequivocally our best season in 20 years and McDermott is a god
-
Can’t complain too much about that schedule. Even though our luck in Baltimore isn’t good lately and I wish we could swap or Home/Away games for the NFC North
-
The end result is the end result. And this is a big final game for us for the first time in a long time. Complain about whatever you want about this season, but this is a good feeling.

No pass rush and blitzing against Brady = disaster
Virgil replied to Foreigner's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I’m going to blame the front 4 on that one. McDermott had good coverage schemes and Brady was confused a lot. Those guys need to win their matchups. With Hughes getting paid like he does, Kyle, and a 1st round pick on that line, there’s no excuses to not get more pressure with just 4. -
A few thoughts about the Patriots game

Can you call out a play or two where this is evident. More often than not, I saw him blowing up plays behind the line of scrimmage. I’m not trying to blow up your spot, but I keep hearing people say our LBs were bad and I’m not seeing it outside the 4th when the whole D was just winded -
New Years Resolutions for McBeane

Well I’ll be damned. You won the internet. Well done -
No matter what, they aren’t going to roll over for a divisional rival. Knowing us, they will win and we will lose.

What’s most important to a successful offense?
Virgil replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They were talking about our scoring offense on WGR after the game. I didn’t think it could be right either, but I don’t use the googly-thing. -

Well, now that we have the important issue out of the way -

If it’s just that, then explain the Vikings success. Most people here wouldn’t take any of their QBs here. Then look at Goff and what’s he doing this season vs last. It can’t be just that unless you have Brady and there aren’t many of him. -
There’s all kinds of finger pointing as to what is wrong with our offense. Some want to say Dennison, some TT, others overall talent. If the 3, I think overall talent is the least important and here’s why. The Bills had the highest scoring offense going into the last game of the season in 2016 with basically the same offense. Our rushing attack was fierce while TT had his usual pedestrian numbers. Yes, we had different WR’s, but none of them were lighting the world on fire. So what changed beside scheme? We saw it on defense when Rex took over and again with McDermott. Scheme might be the most important. I look at the Rams as a counter point. They took our WR’s from last year, a QB labeled a bust, and a 4-12 team and have now won their division. What changed, scheme. Woods is a pro bowler for them and Gurley is a beast. Talent upgrade was nothing more than our discarded wide receivers, but still a huge turnaround. Then I look at QB. How many years has the Pats dominated on offense with no name Wide Receivers? ProBowl QB’s find the open players, hit throws in the clutch, and overall find a way. You can find counter arguments with the Vikings, but that seems to be the exception. So what’s the answer? For us to get over the hump and beyond, I think it’s the loss of TT, Dennison, and speed WR. I’m overall frustrated because I do believe that last years offense and this years defense makes the playoffs. I’m frustrated that TT just isn’t there, but shows enough flashes to give hope. I hate changing up offense philosophies so much, but I don’t want to waste another year on Dennison with a new QB. He wasn’t a good hire to begin with and proven as much all season. I have no idea who the new QB should be, but I would love to seen Cousins (2nd in the league in passing with no WR’s) or go QB with our first. I want speed WR with a top 3 pick. And I want a new OC. I think all 3 need to happen. I use 3 picks on those (OT), and the rest on defense because we need a DT, DB, and depth.

Thank you. Would a great QB have won this for us? Maybe. But is TT the reason we lost? No. That’s the difference. He neither won nor lost the game for us.
