The point we all have to realize is the value of Allen to the Bills. Everything else is irrelevant. Is this team better with Allen than Gardner Minshew? In other words if that argument could be made, and I believe it can, than we have to ask if it's worth investing $30-40 mil a year when his contract is ready. How many players are we willing to lose for his replacement value? That's how he has to be seen. I'm hoping he can do it and we get off the carousel. I'm hoping he's worth it but bear in mind other than the Patriots* most teams that go QB heavy in investment struggle for a while until they have a team that can survive the big salary. Look at Russell Wilson who after he got his 1st big salary the Seahawks struggled defensively.

You really don't think a lot of what Sean does that other coaches don't do is because of Christianity? I can assure you that is. Think of how he treated Peterman. Our worldview is shaped by our ideology. I'm sure if you listen to Sean with the players (as I have in behind the scenes stuff) it's a lot of who he is and a lot of how he unifies things in his "process". I do agree with your with Rivera.

I'm not 100% sure this is THE model to copy, but it's a model to copy. There are some problems implementing it... -Sean is a Christian and emphasizes the team, process, and believing in each other, that's not easily replicable -Really knows defense and can take over playcalling with a good history of success -Makes his team believe in him I don't know how to "replicate" which is 50% mind and 50% heart.

They have a nice nucleus at QB and RB. They need help on OL and a WR and they are good to go offensively. Jones was unexpectedly better than I thought.

RBs don't win Superbowls, they are probably the 3rd most important part of an offense. Freddie was the best thing this team had for a long time. He was my favorite Bill hands-down

100% correct. He's too interested in being clever vs being right But that falls on your HC. Just like when the defense was faltering Frasier lost his playcall duties and the fact he gives all that power to someone who abandons the run way too often is beyond amazing. I'm going to prophesy the future: if we have a bad season next year people will call for McDermott's head to be fired. They will call this year a fluke and as much as I want the Bills to succeed I don't see it happening without us paying premium money for an OC/assistant HC who can keep Daboll in check and learn how to GULP run the ball and throw screen passes and swing passes to the RB. The mystery is how can the same guy who had such great playcalling in the 1st series in the Texans game not even try doing it again in the game? All the motion, all of the great designs... GONE after the 1st sequence.

Sean doesn't know offense. The playcalling is really bad and the adjustments aren't good at all. You don't hire Rick Dennison and rank 29th in offense year 1. Yet he made the playoffs with defense. In year 2 Daboll and that was a cap year with a rookie QB so that's a scratch Year 3 we were in the bottom 10 of all teams We need to poach a former HC who is offended minded to be the assistant HC to help Sean.

I mean mentally. You can't be thin skinned, you can't let others know your struggles or you can't focus on your job but on the firestorm you created. When you say you're going to make teams "pay" for not drafting you you've done 2 things: 1st you've made yourself a mountain you can't climb by yourself, which is winning as it's a team sport; and 2nd every time you lose and fail to make them pay you make a distraction to the team, yourself and you become a mark. Adding extra pressure on a rookie rarely ever works.

I think it works really well even with a QB that isn't as mobile as some of the new guys. Rivers, Brady, Manning were not mobile. Rosen is more athletic than 2 of those 3. All 3 of those guys could be successful today. The difference is you have to be fast seeing the field with great accuracy or you're doomed. Is Rosen that person? I don't think so. A real competitor never lets you know he is, it's a fire inside. Brady never said "I was picked in the 6th so you're all going to burn" and Rivers drafted 4th didn't say he hated the Giants. A real competitor is more fire than burst. People who burst are weak, this is a league for beasts, not sissies. Rosen is a sissy

I was going to write something until I read your post. Your post mirrors my thoughts perfectly. Wilson made those players great. His YPA was very high and he knew how to command the field. He's not a Mahomes, he's a master of consistency. The biggest difference isn't the stats, it's the demeanor. Wilson is as cool as a cucumber from the 1st quarter to the end. When he rushes he's not wild, he's calculated. He's highly accurate. Allen and Wilson are 2 different players. I still think Allen will be a good player, but I'm not sure he'll reach his potential. The game in Dallas told me he can do it.

NO ONE I mean NO ONE signals fair catch better than he has. All-pro in fact.

My true feelings on the Patriots summed up in 3 seconds:

They got caught 3 times as an organization, not individual players. If you got caught 3 times that means you did it 300 times How do you account for their low fumble counts? (deflating the football) How do you account for their few penalties on their offensive line for holding? Even when they mug people? How do you account for players who leave and suck almost every time? How do you account for their coaches sucking when they leave? Why did McDaniel's get busted for cheating taping? How did Mangini know where the Pats were cheating? And why in the world did Goddell BURN the evidence after 1 day? I hated the Cowboys of the 90's, but they were legitimately good. A great dominant team wins 2-4 SBs, not 6, and not a ton of Superbowls. They are the worst team ever and the fact the NFL hasn't stripped them of their titles is proof they are too concerned about the image of the league, and encourage cheating.

I always fear the guy who pretty much gets productive at the end of his rookie deal. Shaq I sometimes fear the prove it 1yr contract guys. Phillips Cut Star, Murphy and get a guy with consistent production for 2 of their salaries.

This is a great reminder. I looked up Big Ben this year as well. I think the differences aren't much to be honest. He didn't hit his stride as a big time QB until year 6. Steelers football was mostly a running game with 20-25 passes. Ben was pretty much a game manager with a deep ball to keep the safeties honest for the 1st 5 years. I don't think no one would care if this was Josh if they committed to the run and we had 1 bruiser, Motor, and a good 3rd guy not named DiMarco. See that's McDermott's thinking and it's wrong. You don't know when the Chiefs are going to score 28 points in a half. The league's rules are all pro-offense. You might have to score 30 and the day you need to you have to have the scheme and players to do so. I don't know about the talent, we might have it, but we don't have the coaching and mindset to do that.

Sorry but we can't do what the Texans or the Chiefs did in the 1st half offensively. Defensively we're there, but we are miles away from scoring 28 points on the Ravens or 24 (Texans) or 28 like the Chiefs in the 1st half. Until we have some 30 point games on teams outside of the Dolphins we're still far away.
