  1. You might be right that Zach can be reclaimed but I am not sure about the Tannehill comparison. The Jets certainly have mismanaged Zach Wilson badly but Tannehill actually had at least one pretty good year in Miami while Wilson has looked pretty bad the whole time in NY. The only improvement for Zach this year is that he appears to be the best of the Jets QBs (Boyle and Siemian) versus the worse of the Jets QBs last year (Flacco and White).
  2. At the time teams didn't want the top picks due to the financial risk involved. Basically if you blew the pick, you were setback for years. Another advantage for New England while building their dynasty.
  3. Rob Johnson was at another level bad, however -- 140 sacks on 806 attempts; a sack every 6.7 dropbacks not counting scrambles.
  4. I was just looking at your data for this year. I agree that your 5 year data for the Bills supports that the Bills D has been bad at "save" situations.
  5. The average save attempts per team looks to be about six. If you compare it to won/loss records, that would be similar to randomly taking a six game stretch of each team's season and using it for the final standings. The standings would definitely correlate with the overall season standings but there would also be a lot of differences.
  6. I appreciate the effort but the problem with stats like this is that there is just not enough data points in a season to make it statistically meaningful.
  7. If he wants people staying out of his business why does he bother posting at all? Clearly he wants people talking about him.
  8. For what it's worth, Epenesa is not in PFF's list of top 100 free agents: https://www.pff.com/news/nfl-2024-free-agent-rankings-free-agency Three Bills are on the list, Floyd at 48th (1 yr $6M), Davis at 83th (1 yr $12M), and Jones at 90th (1 yr $6M), though PFF's contract projections seem pretty low.
  9. Well a Rolex goes between 10K and 80K, so if we say 14 oline that would be between 140K and 1.1M. I assume he won't go with the cheapest one so it's not a huge percentage of his total income but at least noticeable. Maybe he will need to do a few more Pepsi commercials.
  10. That would be quite a hit to the wallet, even for Allen. No wonder he said he started off too strong.
  11. Trying to pull a Lovie Smith and sabotage the team on the way out? Of course didn't work out for Lovie.
  12. Just curious. Who gets these? Just the starters? Starters + main subs? Any oline who has played a snap?
  13. You often get an easier game as a 5th seed than as a third seed though you lose home field. Of course 5th seed is unlikely this year.
  14. i repeat myself but people who think that it would kill Allen's game to reduce his turnovers a bit must think Allen is a real idiot who can't learn anything. He has already reduced fumbles from 13 last year to 4 this year. Is it too much to ask a 6 year vet to throw a few less interceptions?
  15. There were riots in Rome but they were fairly rate. Pompeii was forbidden to have gladiatorial fight for 10 years due to riots. Riots were much more common at chariot races in Byzantium. The Nika riots in 532 led to the death of 30,000 people. Human beings have behaved like idiots for a long time,.
  16. The comparison is with opposition kickers playing against the Bills so they kicking in the same playing conditions as Bass They have a 89% success rate against 85% for Bass. No, I am not going to spend time trying to parse it out by distance. There is zero evidence to believe that Bass is a better kicker at long distances than the NFL average kicker.
  17. I don't agree with that. He is a good kicker (at least above average). He's just not anywhere close to the elite kicker that some people seem to believe he is.
  18. However, opposition kickers have hit a higher percentage than Bass over a four year period.
  19. Absolutely except for maybe Andy Reid since he would lose the State Farm money.
  20. Just to add to this, the Jaguar game was the first game the Bills have lost in four years (since 2020) where the Bills actually had fewer turnovers than the opponents.
  21. I am not disappointed because I didn't expect anything from a 35 year old coming off a ACL. If you want to blame somebody, blame the coaching staff for playing him so many snaps.
  22. Here is the data from the last 5 years to put it into context. Opponent first and then the Bills' kicker. 2019 14/24 (58%!) 22/28 (79% Hauschka) 2020 23/25 (92%) 28/34 (82% Bass) 2021 23/25 (92%) 28/32 (88%) 2022 21/28 (75%) 27/31 (87%) 2023 26/27 (96%) 22/27 (79%) 5 years opp = 107/129 (83%) Bills = 127/152 (84%) 4 years (Bass only) opp = 93/105 (89%) Bass = 105/124 (85%) 3 years (Bass only -- not including this year) opp = 67/78 (86%) Bass = 83/97 (86%) League average in 2022 was 86% so Bills have been unlucky. The evidence also indicates that Bass is a good kicker who is having a bad year. He is good enough for what the Bills need but not elite even accounting for weather.
  23. That's really selective memory. I guess you are throwing out the first Jets game, but even with the Charger's game; Bills are up 14-10, Chargers offense hasn't done much since the opening drive. Allen throws int and the Chargers get a field goal on the short field to make it 14-13. Do you need to go for the jugular there? Eagles game; Bills up 24-21, Allen throws interception, Eagles score to take the lead at 28-24. Both of these interceptions were on second down. These are the ones that I came up with off the top of my head but there were other cases where the Bills offense finally seem to be getting some rhythm only for the momentum to be completely killed due to a totally unforced turnover. Obviously the first Jets game this year and last year's Miami game comes to mind but there were others this year. When multiple opponents talk about how they bait Allen into interceptions, you've got a problem and it should be a problem that can be easily fixed (maybe it has -- no one has said that during the 2nd half of the season). I just don't understand the blind hero worship where one has to ignore or come up with an excuse for everything that your "guy" does (not just Allen, but in general). This does not mean I hate Allen. He is an elite QB -- the Bills obviously would be nowhere without him, however, he can be an all time great if he just fixes some flaws. I see no reason why he can't reduce his turnovers a bit without killing his style.
  24. Folks who think that there's nothing that can be done for the turnovers must think that Allen is a real idiot. Is it really impossible for Allen to learn enough after 6 years to reduce his turnover by 20% without crimping his style? He has already reduced his fumbles from 13 last year to 4 this year. Why can't he cut his interceptions a little bit also? One would have hoped his judgement could be improved to that extent.
  25. That is a incredibly Jetsy. At least replace the online coach.
