The Bass-o-matic thing was never correct. Bass was never an elite kicker. He was an above average NFL kicker who was good enough for the Bills until last season. Bills opponent kickers have had a higher percentage every year since he has been with the Bills so it is not just weather conditions. Hopefully, it was a nagging injury and he will return to his above average form which is all the Bills need.

Does Josh Allen still work as hard in the offseason?
Billy Claude replied to Buffalo_Stampede's topic in The Stadium Wall
I am saying if any other qb says this they would get laughed at. I am sure teams don't play Kyler Murray the same way as other qbs either. If you feel that is reasonable, fine, for me, this is the kind of excuse you expect from a high schooler, not from someone who could and should be an all time great. I repeat, Allen has very few turnovers in the playoffs. You can't be at the top of your game all the time, but that says if he is prepared and focussed he can be much more consistent. -

Allen specifically said he doesn't want to watch "too much" film. I am sure Kyler Murray feels the same way. -
Off topic, but actuallllly .... Albert Einstein made amazing scientific accomplshments totally independent of the theory of relativity. For example, his Nobel Prize was not for the theory of relativity which was still somewhat controversial at the time. Einstein would not have, in any way, been a cut-rate university professor even if he never thought about relativity. OK, back to football.

Does Josh Allen still work as hard in the offseason?

Last off-season there was a very similar thread after a "story" from Jason Whitlock about the Diggs-Allen relationship. I understand that Jason Whitlock is not very reliable and I am certainly not saying Whitlock was correct but it definitely counts as a whisper. We had essentially the same thread last off-season and that didn't come out of a vacuum. As stated upthread, I don't begrudge him taking a few months off and having a little fun to recover mind and body. I am much more concerned about how little film he watched which was confirmed on the McAfee show. McAfee asked Allen about it, which means that Allen not watching much film is a well known fact around the NFL. There was also a story that the backup QBs (Case Keenum and Matt Barkley) used to tease Allen about how little flim he watches. These would also count as whispers. Before people come back with but he explains that "I don't watch a lot of film because teams play me differently", IMHO, that is a pure BS excuse. -

I feel the "paralysis by analysis" is just an excuse. Similarly to the "I would get psyched out if I study too much". There are students who study too much but none of them are the ones who study too much are the ones who worry that they would get psyched out by it. To me, the fact that Allen throws very few interceptions in the playoffs is an indication of what he can be when he is well prepared. You can't be at the top of your game all the time but you can be more consistent. Last season there were two or three times where DBs specificly said that they baited Allen into throwing interceptions. This should not happen (certainly not more than once) if you are prepared as well as you should be. -
Do you think Allen feels relief after the Diggs trade?
Billy Claude replied to Royale with Cheese's topic in The Stadium Wall
Of course Allen is relieved. If you ever worked with or managed a toxic colleague, it's a breath of fresh air when they are gone even if they were a high performer. The question of whether the Bills are a better team is another story but at least it will be more fun to go to work. -

This isn't a new topic, of course their were whispers. There were whispers last off season also, where people on this board fell over themselves defending Allen. I myself have no problem with Allen taking a few months off. I am much more concerned that he doesn't like to watch film to the point that the other QBs in the room tease him about it and no, the " teams play me differently excuse" is the kind of BS you expect from your high school kid about why they didn't study. -
I feel that De Costa still gets a bump reputation wise from the glow of Ozzie Newsome. The wide receivers may be limited by Jackson but Marquise Brown hasn't looked great in Arizona either.

He gets plenty of criticism, especially the last two years. However, we should ask how many NFL GMs have clearly done a better job than Beane. I feel there is only two obvious ones and a bunch who are on a similar level 1. Brett Veach - Chiefs (obviously) 2. Howie Roseman -- Eagles: Two Super Bowls with two different QBs and two different coaches but the team fell apart at the end of last year and they might be in a bit of trouble if it turns out Jalen Hurts is not the guy. On same level (in no particular order) 3. Eric DeCosta -- Ravens --- always has good drafts but one wonders how high their ceiling is with Lamar Jackson. 4. Brian Gutekunst -- Packers --- nice job transitioning from Rogers to Love. 5. John Lynch -- 49ers -- two super bowls in the weaker NFC. However one has to wonder how much is luck and the extra draft picks the 49ers have gotten, considering how many complete busts he has had in the first round (Solomon Thomas, Reuben Foster, Trey Lance, Javon Kinlaw). Beane never made a mistake anywhere close to the disastrous trade up for Trey Lance. 6. Wes Snead -- Rams -- one Super Bowl victory but mortgaged the future for it. 7. Duke Tobin -- Bengals -- got to one Super Bowl but has not been able to protect Joe Burrow and was extremely lucky to get that Super Bowl. Off to a good start but not yet proven: 8. Nick Caserio -- Texans -- masterful job rebuilding the Texans and still has a lot of draft capital. 9. Brad Holmes -- Lions -- only two years on the job so far so will need to see sustained success. I don't know if the OP thinks Beane should be fired but you certainly aren't getting any of these guys to come to Buffalo.

His was an excellent (or at least very good) DC and a good, if overrated, head coach his first two years with the Jets. However, the New York media treated him as a god and the hubris got to him. He spend the rest of his time in NYC and Buffalo doing the funny press conferences and trying to win power struggles with the various GMs instead of actually coaching or adjusting his strategy his players or to the changing game.

Ok. Still seems like a lot of money for a guy who was out all last year and hasn't been any good for three years. So why not keep him at tackle? Or are you saying Morse stank because they didn't run QB sneaks thru him? Obviously not Morse's strong suit but it's major revisionist history if people are saying he stank last season.
-
I know it is "up to" 6.5 million but doesn't that mean he will at least get a long look at starting?
-
Best OL in years and the Bills are going to replace three positions? Why not just keep Morse?

Weren't you the want that posted that Diggs was screaming insults at Allen at halftime of games? If that was not a one or two time occurence and Allen couldn't take care of it himself man to man, then the Bills had to either trade Diggs or Allen and clearly they weren't going to trade Allen.

It's like the Kelvin Benjamin / Gettleman food stealing story. It was clearly fake but it has pretty much become accepted fact.

Kenny Pickett being traded to Eagles (according to Schefter)
Billy Claude replied to Simon's topic in The Stadium Wall
I assumed you left put a comma; " Great, kid. You got your wish." not "Great kid. You got your wish." Kenny Pickett issued an extremely strong non-denial denial of the story about refusing to suit up for the 17th game: "There was a plan for that game. It went down exactly the way it was planned to go down that entire week. I was coming off the ankle surgery, it is what it is. And like I've been saying, I'm very happy to be here." It sounds like, my plan was to refused to suit up and that's how it went. https://www.nfl.com/news/new-eagles-qb-kenny-pickett-on-reports-of-his-steelers-exit-i-m-confident-in-the-way-i-handled-it
