  1. I had to go back and look, the first pick was Garret Wilson. So if they could add K Walker that would be quite the offensive infusion - I don't like not putting Walker in there - I like him better than Hall. I don't consider them interchangeable and wouldn't take Hall here.
  2. Lots for me to disagree with: I would be more comfortable with a veteran CB than a rookie. I thought Dane Jackson performed well and could be the answer for CB2. There is still FA CB help available. And yes while there is some risk in going with a vet CB and a mid round selection I am hoping the FO is willing to take that risk if it means taking the WR they see as the BPA at the time of the 1st round pick.
  3. Plenty is: Haden/Fuller/Buoye/Callahan/Harris/Rhodes Tre didn't play against the Chiefs Maybe the answer is Tre and Dane, with a short term vet CB, and groom another CB.
  4. Logic doesn't say you approach every position the same. The FO could want a cheap veteran CB. You don't attack with that mindset, you wait. The well is not almost completely dry, there are plenty out there, they just may be waiting it out.
  5. I think that the choice of FA CB may depend on what happens in the draft. If a stud WR falls and no CB is chosen until late, the FO will probably invest more and in the FA CB. I don't know how they value the CBs but they might trade for Bradberry or invest in Fuller. If they get a CB early (say Booth), the FO may then look for a less expensive type, either short term vet CB - Sherman or the injury plagued K King/Callahan.
  6. This team needs premium positions under rookie contracts. The days of buying $7M WR3's are coming to an end. We need to home grow them. This team is not built to rely on the RB and should keep the process of using a lower draft pick to fill the need. If Hall or Walker is there in the 2nd the Bills should consider it.
  7. The question "what helps the Bills offense the most" in the short term, is the wrong question for the draft. The draft is for the long haul, the future. And the longer term needs to include finances in the picture. The draft is key in cap management. And cap management is key to long term success. At pick 25 you'll pay about $3M for several years. With an RB that $3M is looking to unseat Singletary at $2M while the WR3 is taking Sanders spot at $6M. If the WR becomes good he is worth Will Fuller to C Kirk money $10-15M, if the RB is good they are worth L Fournette money $6-7M.
  8. One disadvantage of taking a CB in the first is the devaluing of the gem they found/developed in D Jackson. Looks to me like D Jackson can be starting material. But Jackson could be crowded out if you add Booth to Tre/Taron + the 2 safeties. On the other side at WR, Gabe would still get plenty of opportunity even with a new WR in the mix. I see more long term benefit of adding a stud WR than CB. Give Josh/Dorsey 4-5 years of a stud, home grown WR to develop and use. It would be exciting to watch. That's why I am hoping that the BPA at premium position of use works out on their board to be a WR. I hope the FO is valuing a C Watson/T Burks over McDuffie for instance. And i hope Booth is gone by our pick so they are not even tempted.
  9. Sure - I like J Williams/T Burk/and even C Watson. But the question is if the FO goes a draft like Booth/Hall/T Anderson/IOL and doesn't get a WR. Who do you want in FA?
  10. Who do you want? Here are some of the choices: Julio Jones - love it, but tough to get because he's used to big money $22M Landry - head case and probably wants too much and not a good fit W Fuller - good fit but last salary $10M TY Hilton - interesting, last salary $8M D Jackson - cheaper last salary $2M but old and played, might as well get Sanders OBJ - coming off injury
  11. But if they don't get a WR early, I could see them waiting until next year to draft one. They will still have Diggs + Davis locked up. And if they don't draft one, I think they will get a low priced vet WR to fill the outside WR3 spot. People were surprised by the praise Sanders put on Davis but it makes a lot of sense when you view it as Sanders is keeping the option open for Buffalo to bring him back. It was a public display to show he could accept being WR3 and not be a disruption to team chemistry. I hope you're right and the draft goes WR and then even RB. Then they use the resources and buy a good CB.
  12. I'd say it's more likely that Howard won't be back.
  13. Venice FL here. See plenty of Bills fans. Loving it.
  14. Depends on the draft. Two holes remain CB2/3 (Wallace's spot) and WR2/3 (Sanders spot). We draft WR early - a T Burks/K Walker/T Anderson/IOL type. Good sized money goes to CB- Bradberry/Haden/Fuller We draft CB early = a Booth/Walker/T Anderson/IOL type. Money goes to short term WR - a Julio Jones/W Fuller/E Sanders type and maybe a low priced vet CB on a short term contract (B Callahan/K King/Sherman type)
  15. I love that guy's draft too. Would love to see things fall like that. I don't think it would hinge on having the Bills brass thinking McCollum could handle the CB2 work at the start. I would hope it would mean the FO's last FA move would spending on a good CB.
  16. I agree. I would be nervous with a rookie. I want a vet CB in here. Maybe the FO is maybe waiting until after the draft to see where to put -and how much- into the remaining spots. For instance if they draft Booth, maybe then the FO goes for a cheaper short term, prove it contract for one of the CBs who are coming back from injury (and have been injury prone) - K King or B Callahan. If they don't get a CB early, maybe they invest more into the CB spot - more aggressive for Bradberry, or Haden/Rhodes (whichever one they like)
  17. No, I am talking about Kevin King, the 6'3" 200 rangy former 2nd round pick of GB. Had 5 int's in 2019, but has been injury prone. He was ranked the No 1 cornerback inside the 20 yd line by Pro Football Focus 7/14/2021.
  18. Beane better know what he's doing. I want a vet CB better than Wallace- and Nelson was one of them. Still has options Fuller/Gilmore/Rhodes/Callahan/King along with a trade for Bradberry to get this done.
  19. I think the plan was to fill holes in FA and then draft BPA. This year they seem to have modified it, and are letting CB2 and WR3 play out in the draft before putting the finishing touches. I don't like the idea of a rookie starting day1 next season -and no, not every 1st round CB started day 1 last year. Fuller would certainly be starting over Booth. And I think we have a decent amount of cash to put into the CB, they just redid Diggs.
  20. My point was I'm hoping they draft like they will fill the CB spot in FA. Steve Nelson was the example someone else provided who thought we wouldn't start w Nelson and Jackson. So, with reduced urgency would you then rather have C Watson over Booth? Because when you say reduced urgency you are really just factoring out the short term need.
  21. It's a terrible idea to count on having a rookie start day 1 on a superbowl contending team. Yes, I agree it's possible to have a rookie work his way into starting lineup. I also don't buy the idea that it has to be a cheap vet. I just think reasonably priced. There were rumors they were in the hunt for Peterson who ended up at $4-5M.
  22. You're scaring me, you're suggesting something like having K Gordon start. Part of the success of this FO has been the belief that the draft is for the futute. They use their picks on BPA for premium positions of use, not for short term need. Yes, CB would qualify but not in a panic stricken way. I believe (hope) the FO has just temporarily delayed their FA fills holes prior to the draft approach due to the unique circumstances of this year. I'm expecting a decent CB (better than Wallace) to be acquired. There remain Nelson/Fuller/Callahan/King/Haden/Gilmore/Sherman/Jenkins. Much rather have any of them starting the season over Gordon (or Booth for that matter).
  23. I think the plan remains to address CB2 with a vet. I think the plan was always a CB2 vet on a team friendly deal, not vet CB at all costs. They never planned to be a big player, big spender, at CB2 (that was reserved for pass rusher). So by being a secondary player in the market you should not have expected someone right off the bat. Unusual circumstances have the acquisition delayed a little longer than in the past. Steve Nelson is not coming in as depth. You aren't seriously thinking Booth would start over him are you? I would pencil him in as the starter. Same for Rhodes/Callahan/King/Haden/Fuller/Gilmore/maybe Sherman.
  24. Why can't they draft with confidence that they have a vet CB if Beane tells them he will get them one? What you're suggesting is a classic example of drafting for need. Generally frowned upon. It is a unique situation where there seem to be a glut of FA CBs still out there. If Beane is confident that by waiting he will get a significantly better deal, then of course, they should do that. It is not foolish.
  25. I agree C Watson will be there. He's probably going to be the 6th or 7th WR taken. What I don't agree with is your super bowl window stuff. The draft is supposed to be for the future. If the FO thinks a stud WR is the BPA you take him. A stud WR is extremely valuable and is a key piece in keeping the super bowl window open.
