I will clear this up for you. The defense cost us any chance to win the game.

Doug Pedersen coaches the Jaguars. He has a process to trust. We have a process to trust. -

Ok, we have something in common with the Jaguars. My bad. -
Last year I thought it was obvious we would have gone on to beat the Bengals and Rams, except for that blunder. But I no longer think that is obvious. It is likely the Bengals would have beaten us just like they beat the Chiefs. And Miller and Donald would have killed us in the Super Bowl had we got by the Bengals. The net result is last year was a regression from the previous year, dropping from the final four to the final eight. This year we stayed pat being in the top 8, but ended the season with a massive beatdown, so it felt like a regression.

Will the back 11 give a 10 yard cushion on third and five?

zero turnovers against the Bengals until long after the defense had lost the game.

To my read opinions of posters on TBD are split on the Bills general direction. One group thinks the Bills should stay the course and keeping doing the same things and that through some experience/maturation process the Bills will get better results. The second group thinks the coaching staff has peaked and won't be able to do further in the playoffs than it has. There is a smaller group that seems to think coaching changes automatically results in disaster and as long as your current coaches are competent NFL coaches and you don't should tempt the fates with a change. I am in the second group. I am not sure thinking team McDermott has peaked means "fire everybody", but I feel like any further failure to progress means something should change. I may be guilty of overrating Josh Allen, but I think any current NFL coaching staff would get the Bills 2022 Roster to the playoffs, simply because Allen is that good. So the goals have to be set higher than that.

The Bills are the only team whose fans are requested to "trust the process". So presumably, other teams don't have a process. Just random grabass decision making with no direction or purpose. And like the proverbial monkeys on a typewriter one of the other 31 teams random grabass directionless decision making results in a championship every year. -
While neither the Chiefs or Eagles have a process to trust, it is pretty remarkable that the Eagles drafted 10 offensive starters and then added AJ Brown. I would be suprised to learn that any other Super Bowl team had that much drafting success in the last 30 years.

A 3-4-4 would be preferably to the 0-2-5 we run in the playoffs. It would provide 1 more person in coverage and three more pass rushers.

PSA: This is Sean McDermott's defense, not Leslie Frazier's

Elway, third season after bringing in Mike Shanahan. Before this Dan Reeves held him back for nine seasons. Manning, fourth season with Dungy as coach. Elway/Reeves is a good comp to Allen/McDermott. The good news is, if it is, we are only four years away from acknowleging the failure. -
Josh = Phil Rivers (just messenger)

Can he be Big Ben instead? -
they made two super bowls with two mediocre QBs. They started that run with nothing. No reason to think McVay can't do it again.
-
Did he take the system to Tampa Bay?

So you’re saying the Ravens are a tougher playoff team than they the Bills? Because Cincy stomped us.
-
Why could Sean Mcvay Zac Taylor and Nick Siriani get to skip so many steps to get to the Super Bowl?

Scouts, Scheme, Evolution, free agency, and a Hands-Off Coach

The Bills strategy on defense is to be passive and let crappy teams make unforced errors. And it works really well agains those teams. It collapses in the face of teams with talent and aggressive game plans. It seems unlikely to ever work deep into the playoffs. -

In real life coaches get to the Super Bowl within a couple of years if getting an elite qb on board. McDermott has had a long chance. He is currently the longest tenured coach without a Super Bowl win for his team. McVay , Taylor and Siriani are examples of recent guys who have gotten to the Super Bowl with a much quicker process.
