Draft Capital, Cap Space, Restructure Capital - Bills have challenges.

Among the top 10, the Lions are the only ones that have a QB solution in place. -
After the combine it seems he will likely be there at pick 59.

Draft Capital, Cap Space, Restructure Capital - Bills have challenges.

Different ways to look at it. One perfectly reasonable way is to say, the Bllls are positioned to improve more than 7 teams. 24 Teams are positioned to improve more than the Bills. But the big issue (not new news) is the Chiefs and Bengals are better positioned to improve than the Bills. And their GM's have been almost as wizardy as Beane the last couple of seasons. -
Henry has one year left on his contract. It doesn't get any less risky than that.

Leslie Frazier "taking a year off from coaching" per Bills PR
Chaos replied to Roundybout's topic in The Stadium Wall
The official Bills company line seems to be "Frazier was a great DC, responsble for the Bills success on defense, but he won't be missed because he was really not too consequential" -
Oliver is in his last contract year. Time to make a decision.

You are free to speculate. We all are. But its just speculation. My speculation says to believe that McDermott does not tell white lies to assuage and grown man's feelings though. -
Narrow thinking. Titans might trade Henry for Oliver. No NFL team is trading a good olinemen under contract to Oliver. The Oliver for Henry trade concept has zero impact on improving the line. Does not help. Does not hurt.

Several things can be simulataneouly true. It does not make sense to give up draft assets and $11 mm of cap space to sign Derrick Henry Item 1 is not the only option regarding Henry. Trading for Henry is, IMO, a one season decision. The only way it might make sense depends on what the teams plans are with Ed Oliver. Oliver and Henry have almost exactly the same Salary Cap impact for the 2023 season. Both Henry and Oliver can likely be replaced with much more cost effective assets in any NFL draft. The Bills can't just cut Oliver and recover the cap space. If the Bills plan to move on from Oliver after the 2023 season AND if the Titans in an effort to accomodate Henry were willing to trade Henry straight up for Oliver, the question becomes a one season question. Would the Bills be better in 2023 with Henry, or with Oliver. Personally I think the anwser is they would be better with Henry.

Was MdD involved with coaching the team at all during the last two playoff losses? Because it seems like many fans think McD is just on the sidelines observing what the DC's are doing. -
Stop checking? would that solve the problem? In real life we ended the last two seasons on very depressing losses. And we are watching Beane maneuver through his first salary cap challenges, resulting from not having a super star QB on a rookie contract. Hopefully the arrow points back up, but right now the arrow is pointing sideways, with a chance it points down. This is an actual depressing situation.

Think of the question this way: Would I feel bad if the Chiefs added Derrick Henry?

WR Allen Robinson available, Rams willing to eat salary

There really is no such thing as an undervalued veteran free agent. These guys are well vetted by 32 pro scouting staffs, and the market for pricing is pretty efficient. Not sure another older receiver is a good use of any Salary Cap. Rather role with hoping Gabe Davis gets better. -

What makes you say that? McD said it was 100% Frazier's call. -
Is there any defensive player you'd be happy with at pick 27?
Chaos replied to HappyDays's topic in The Stadium Wall
I am giving up on Spencer Brown. He can fight for the starting role. At this point best case scenario is he stops being a turnstile just in time for his rookie contract to be up, and he can get crazy free agent money. -
IF the Bills did trade down, Who would you like?
Chaos replied to Victory Formation's topic in The Stadium Wall
He seems to have tumbled down post combine big boards. PFF dropped him from 52 to 68. Saw him at 76 somewhere else. Everyone seems to have Tippman and Wypler going before Schmitz now. If we are fantasizing I would rather get Avila and Dawand Jones and pass on Charbonnet. -

Unless Skoronski, Paris Johnson, or Broderick Jones falls to 27, the pick will likely be defense. I was pretty impressed with Dawand Jones at the combine. He is likely to be there at 27. Not sure the Bills will like him as much as I did and pull the trigger at 27 on Dawand Jones though. -
Pacheco did well. He ran for 872 yards. No one in the world would confuse his performance with Henrys though.
-
Which teams have achieved that?
-
Oliver's cap hit makes that unlikely. He is about zero net asset value. The only reason the Titans would make the trade, is to accomodate Henry, plus anything else we would give up to the titans to make it happen.
-
Hopefully in the same way it hurt the Chiefs in 2022

Let me phrase the question another way. Should factoring in personnel availability be a significant factor in scheme development? Why make it harder than it needs to be? Maybe there is a good reason, it is a real question. -

Have you considered the Bills might want to start developing a defensive scheme that works with prototypical NFL linebackers, and does not rely a very rare combination of physical measurements. Most teams seem to be limited by "need" "positional value" and "best player available" while drafting. Bills seem to have all of that plus "must have physical traits to fit wierd and unusual scheme"
