This is an interesting exercise, but I suspect since we are all bills fans, we have internalized "positional value" from the perspective of the current Bills perceived needs, and that the draft is starting to show this bias. I think most of the players highlighted in yellow here will probably go somewhat later in the real draft, than a draft of hard core Bills fans. By and large though, it has been pretty conventional so far, staying pretty close to consensus big boards. (Hendon Hooker in the first seems to be the outlier)

I want Darnell Washington for the Bills. Hard to see how we get him though. So looking through measurables and stats for TEs in the draft and came across Mason Fairchild TE. Besides his football accomplishments Fairchlid was a NATIONAL high jump champion in high school. Here is the tale of the Washing vs. Fairchild Tape: Stat Washington Fairchild Height 6' 7" 6' 5" Weight 267 261 40 time 4.64 4.85 Targets in 2022 43 ? Catches in 2022 28 35 Passer Rating when targeted 2022 111.2 148.3 TDs 2022 2 5 Sacks Allowed 0 0 Pressures Allowed 0 1 are two inches of height and 2/10's in the 40 the difference between early second rounder and UDFA?

Washington is much more than the 6th olinemen. The passer rating when he was targeted last year was 105, better than Michael Mayer. I have this minor fantasy of people imagining he is staying into to block and instead releases to an wide open easy catch the way Kelce seems to be able too. And as I said, the way the Saints use Graham early in his career was not really even as a tight end. I think the skils for washington and knox, would allow for a lot of creativity.

We use Knox extensively and effectively in the red zone. We don't need to use him between the 20's. We literally had the fewest punts in the league last year. Knox has been used more in playoffs and has been suffessful for us in the playoffs. Personally I think Darnell Washington at TE would allow knox to become a Jimmy Graham type TE (ie quasi-wr). And knox becomes weapon 2, if not WR2.

I don't this could happen, but if we could get Wright and Washington on this offense, I think we would be unstoppable

They were a fluke play away from beating the Bengals in the playoffs ( a team that kicked our butt the next week). If Lamar plays on the tag, and OBJ plays back to old form, they will be better than the team that almost beat the bengals.

I expect Tippmann to be taken before Schmitz in real draft.

Real question. What did Edmunds do that Nickle Safties don't do?

Young needs a water bug and a strong defense. Stop wasting your picks on these lineman.

Well, Beane already shored up the guard position. Bates is not great, but just was not the disaster Brown was last year, notwithingstand a GM trying to talk up a player.

It seems like there is a real push-me pull-me on the Bills Board. Its seems there is a consensus that the NFL as a whole has "devalued" the LB position. It also seems people seem to think the most important position on the Bills defense is a linebacker who is no longer with the team. The Bills scheme will just shift to whatever allows all the other teams to "devalue" LBs.

Tippman is still undrafted.

Lining Torrence up next to the mountain of a man human turnstile Spencer Brown is is not appealing to me. If we are looking for a mountain, lets draft Dawand Jones. Jones is going to be good in the NFL, if he can hold up for the entire NFL season.

I think Hyde, Poyer and the two safeties we draft this year are expected to handle the slack from Edmunds. In reality Edmunds played more like a safety than an LB.

Cover 1 Just put out a new Mock Draft, Edge round 1.

After this season, we may be facing wholesale changes. Hyde, Poyer, Miller, Morse are all older beat up. All of them could be gone. Tre White post injury was not good, without a return to form for White, and Hyde and Poyer aging, the secondary is a disaster. Bills should use the first round pick on someone who can contribute in 2023 as well as in the future. Drafting a DT now who doesn't improve the position meaningfully in 2023, in order to fill a 2024 makes little sense to me. I don't want to draft McDonald, but teams should only count on the rookie contract. In the case of Edmunds, we could not afford his peak years, after the rookie contract. With McDonald we would be getting his peak years for the entire rookie contract. -

If Campbell is a 3 down starter from day 1 and for 5 years, that is a perfectly good use of pick 27. (some ifs in there though) -
Hendon Hooker will help the bills as much as Jordan Love has helped the Packer so far.
