Final Pro Football Focus Oline Season Grades
Chaos replied to 78thealltimegreat's topic in The Stadium Wall
There must be statisitics on his passer rating with a clean pocket. Pretty easy to extrapolate from that. -
An offense that only works when the QB is perfect has problems. Every credible observer in the world knows Allen is one of best 3 QBs in the NFL. Allen’s production is in the top 3 by any measure. Anyone who seriously thinks the improvement on offense includes upping Allen’s production falls into the not credible category.

Buscaglia: Both Bills Coordinators are likely to be back in 2023
Chaos replied to JohnNord's topic in The Stadium Wall
The lowered expectations will be easier to meet, ensuring a return of the same coaches for 2024 as well. Drop Josh Allen on almost any team in the NFL, and the expectations are that making the playoffs are automatic. Management and coaches are going to ride this horse for a decade, before a change is made. You can book it. -
Bill Parcells says Josh Allen needs help
Chaos replied to Buffalo_Stampede's topic in The Stadium Wall
All those dominating Patriots teams struck fear into people's hearts with their running game. People shake when the Chiefs come to town for their running game. So I see what you mean. -
Bill Parcells says Josh Allen needs help

The don't really need a consistent running game. They need a line that can pass block. Allen is an assasin when he has time. -
Buscaglia: Both Bills Coordinators are likely to be back in 2023
Chaos replied to JohnNord's topic in The Stadium Wall
Given Beanes observation that 3 of the final four teams have QBs on rookie contract deals, I am looking for him to trade Josh for a bunch of draft picks and starting over with a new QB on a rookie contract and some new CBs and DL's -
Which one was worse ? 13 seconds or Cinci fail ?
Chaos replied to Repulsif's topic in The Stadium Wall
13 seconds was the worst coaching choke job in NFL history. It does not even have a close contender. The stomping the Bills took against Cincy was nother horific example of bad game coaching. But lots of teams have been stomped in the playoffs due to bad coaching. So not that big of a deal. -
Frank Reich named new Head Coach of Panthers

this is the first logical step to becoming the Bills OC. -
Bills Coaching Staff Changes Thread
Chaos replied to hellofellowbillsfans's topic in The Stadium Wall
I was mocked three months ago when I started a thread about how the teams problems were rooted in its safties coaching. .......... I jest. -
Its not worth the energy to do an exhaustive analysis, but I think there is an agreement that Bills rookies did not play as many downs as the rookies on most other teams. This thread is to discuss what the primary reasons for this were.

Old Buffalo Bills Message Board
Chaos replied to Floridagatorsbuffalobills's topic in The Stadium Wall
It was a shame they just tool all the old content away. It would be fun to back and see some of the old threads from many years ago. -
I would reduce the Salary Cap committed to defense from the highest in the league to the league average. This probably means letting Edmunds walk among other things that the real Beane won't likely do. I would expect a committment from my Defensive Minded head coach and DC that with an average budget, they can deliver an NFL average defense, like the Chiefs or Bengals do. If they can't deliver that committment I would start a coaching search. I would spend committ all available draft and salary cap growth to the offensive line. 100%. I am not saying I would draft seven offensive linement. I am saying I would use the 7 draft picks to trade to get the best two or three linemen I could possibly get. I would not worry about additional offensive skill players. Diggs, Cook, Hines, (Singletary if affordable), Shakir, Knox and Davis are good enough, if we improve the line to top tier. Josh Allen with time is a brilliant passer, one of the best in the league. Given even an average amount of time in the pocket, Allen would elevate the production of all of the skill players we already have. On a separate track, I would consider what is an odd track for OC. I would tell Dorsey I am opening up the position, and that Dorsey remains a candidate, but he has to provide a plan on why he is the best person to be the OC. And I would interview others to see if I can improve that postion. Presumably Dorsey, will have a better answer than "Obviously I will be better in year 2 than year 1". Every player has to compete for his job every year. I don't think it is that odd to make Dorsey compete for his position.

are you seriously suggesting 13 seconds was just a close lose, and not a choke?
-
His cards were laid bare in Sunday's drubbing. He told the truth today. KC and Cincy are better, and he doesn't know how to make the Bills good enough to beat them.
-
I am not a "you win in the trenches" advocate. But I think the reasons the Bills can dominate weaker teams durning the regular season is that most weak teams have a poor pass rush, and Josh Allen combined can overcome our horrible Oline to crush opponents. However the stronger teams generally have good pass rushes, and even Superman can't overcome an oline that looks like it is playing with 3 linemen on most downs. So we end up getting dominated. The teams best move is to stick with skill players, don't waste another nickle on defense to retain anyone, and build the best possible oline.

There are only 3 questions.
-
Not completely True. John Madden and Ken Stabler won their first Super Bowl after 7 or 8 years together, in the late 70's.
-
Its no ones fault. Everyone did their best. We are not in a position to make any changes. We are not as good as the competition. Is this a fair summary?
-
Lets stipulate the Bills "were in the same bracket". HOw do you explain choking or getting stomped in every single end of season game?

Here is my definition of a retread. A coach who had five years or more to build a team and implement a system. Andy Reid is a retread by this definition and a hell of a coach. Sean Payton is a retread. John Gruden was a retread. Josh McDaniel is not. Doug McDermott would be a retread on a different team. If Brian Flores were to get another opportunity, he would not be a retread under my definition. He might not be a good coach, but i would not define him as a retread. Bill Belichek was not a retread when he was hired by this defintion.
-
What percentage of HCs are retreads based on your criteria. My guess is more than 60 percent which means 60 percent is a fail. And if you remove Belcihek from both sides of the equation you are at 6/14
-
I would not. Payton’s involvement in bounty gate disqualifies him. I would be more interested in the next Sean Mcvay, whom I never heard of before he was hired. I assume I have never heard of the next star HC. The record for retreads is horrible.

I am in the how do we win a championship crowd. Full stop. If the best answer is 100 percent maintain the status quo after analysis I am good with that. if the answer is gut everything and completely reboot around Josh Allen (Allen should be considered a sacred cow in any analysis) I am ok with that. However any analysis that includes comparisons to past losing Bills teams is invalid from the get go in my opinion.

No idea. But it seems like we really struggle to incorporate players new to the team
