This is a great point. @dave mcbride should Drew Lock have thrown a couple more picks instead of balling out? He's getting paid a lot of money and it would be better for his organization for him to suck and lose more. I think you’re misunderstanding, I know teams tank. i know it’s probably smart for the Giants to tank at this point. What I find very odd is you expect an employee of a company to make himself look worse to future employers right before he gets fired for the sole benefit of the company who is gonna fire him. Would you be picking up extra shifts to benefit your company if you were getting fired in 2 weeks? Of course not. That’s not selfish. That’s self-interest. If the Giants wanted Dabs to tank, they should have empowered him to do so.

If Daboll is going to get fired, there is zero reason for him to lose games purposefully. It will only harm him get jobs in the future to completely bottom out. So yeah, it’s extremely intelligent to not tank if you won’t see the objective interest lol

I too also voted for Ladd to have the best rookie season production-wise. He was stepping into a team without any receivers at all with a known good QB and good coach. It wasn’t much of a stretch. But the difference between production like his as a rookie and Chase’s as a rookie is still really stark. Because one of them is a boundary guy and one of them is a slot guy. Also, not extending Shakir is a no-brainer. Paying him $20M+ AAV when CB1’s making less like Humphrey can erase him is a total mistake.

And the Bills are the 9th best pass offense, 2nd in total points and 8th in yards. And they don’t have elite slot Ladd? How could it be? Diggs/Allen were moved the slot because they were declining physical players. Because it’s an easier position to play. Rookies see more time in the slot. Because it’s an easier position to play. Where are you getting extra 3 to 4 years? Are you under the assumption that we are paying a slot WR big bucks right now? Or that we need to? FWIW, Ladd will be more expensive than Shakir in cap dollars this year and next. Sure if the Chargers called and said they would trade Ladd for Shakir straight up, I think that’s probably a no-brainer. If they said they would trade us Ladd for 2 seconds, I would not bother. as good as he is been, I think we are seeing around his ceiling as far as production goes. The Chargers will of course target more receiving help and if they are successful, they will eat into Ladd’s numbers. Slot guys are nice. Great running backs are nice. Great linebackers are nice. But that’s all they are.
